Days of Future Past Scoring Days of Future Past - The Soundtrack/Music Thread

Does anyone know the film order of the soundtrack?

Does anyone know the score music playing right after Roberta Flacks "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" after Logan wakes up in the future at the end of the film?

It's a different version of Hope (Xavier's Theme); a softer and more melodic version. I hope it's not going to be an unreleased track. :csad:

Yeah, I listened to the soundtrack and do not remember hearing it, which sucks. I really liked that part of the score.

:wow:

That's Time's Up (Film version) which Ottman previously mentioned was an extremely last minute replacement.

I'm surprised they let Singer walk around like that. (unless they weren't recording)

Glad they did put in Time's Up though, since that's one of the rare moments where we get to hear Jackman's Magneto theme (which Ottman mentioned was a play on his own Wolverine theme)

I do hope in the future we get to hear some of Powell's Phoenix music and Kamen's Logan and Rogue theme. I feel like if there's anything else we need from TLS besides Ellen and Kelsey, it's some of Powell's music.

Indeed :csad:

I didn't expect to like Ottman's ost, since I didn't enjoy X2, but he blew me off! He has evolved so good. Xavier's Theme is the best \m/
He seems the type. :wow:

Oh my...

I always prefer scores after I have images to connect them with from the movie. My first listen pre-release was 'eh, some cool tracks', but now I love Ottman's whole DoFP score

The same here. I was so curious to listen what he did this time and I listen to it before I saw the movie. It was better I thought. But after the movie became stronger! Of course that's what it is ;)

I'm mortified to discover that cues 16 thru 19 are in the wrong order and labelled wrong on my X-Men Days of Future Past album!
For those who care.... In the order on the album (which was NOT the way it was supposed to be heard), the correct cue names should be:
16. Do What You Were Made For
17. I Have Faith in You/Goodbyes
18. Join Me
19. The Battle Begins"

Also, I asked him if there would be another release that has additional cues, he said he wasn't aware of one. :csad:

So The Attack Begins is Do What You Were Made For, Join Me is I Have Faith In You/Goodbyes, Do What You Were Made For is Join Me and I Have Faith In You/Goodbyes is The Battle (?) Begins?

:exp:

But these titles actually make sense now... :hmm

Well first of all, those names make SO much more sense. Been nagging me. Second, I always wondered why the music on the album was out of order. Now I know. :(

Has anyone noticed that Welcome Back - End Titles is actually the end composition of X2?! It's not the end music of DOFP at all, which had hints of Hope - Xavier's Theme in it. Ha, just noticed that now.

Actually no, although I've listened to it so many times. BUT I noticed that the track "I found them" is based on the "The X Jet" track of X1 ost!

There's something that has me a little curious, and I don't know if it's been pointed out in this thread.

The cue that plays during the film's opening titles isn't quite the same as the CD version. It actually goes into a few different keys before "TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX PRESENTS" appears on screen, and then the cue plays out identically to its CD counterpart. Is there a reason for this difference? Was it just something that Ottman decided to replace for the score's release?

A lot of times the deadline for the soundtrack is earlier then the deadline for the complete score, so you end up with instances like this where I assume Ottman had to send the score in for the CD, but was still working on the film after.

Another, more drastic, example I can give is the 2007 HAIRSPRAY musical. Marc Shaiman's score in the film is almost entirely different than what's on the soundtrack because New Line needed it 2 months before the film's release. It's all the same music, but the final version's in the film are more lush, full, and complete.

That, and there's also re-writes to score cues on every film. It wouldn't shock me if Ottman wrote an alternate opening to the main title, as he wrote an alternate to the X2 main title

why most of you here like old fanfare-ish scores similar to 70's films? that's what I noticed in almost every discussion about scores. I know it may be sort of nostalgic, but in a musical point of view, these themes (the likes of old Superman, Batman, etc ..) suck .. and so does Ottman's theme (and the whole score except Xavier theme) ..

I really loved DoFP, but the score was very bad and has nothing memorable .. no track (except Xavier's) can be remembered and would still run in your head and enjoy listening to it in loop.

when DoFP was first announced, I was hoping for Vaughan to direct it, he's a genius and way better than Singer, and Vaughan means Henry Jackman would compose the score, his work in FC was one of the best I've listened to. am still playing most of the score till this day. I even set many tracks as ringtones.

but, when it was officially announced that Singer will direct, I knew Ottman will make the score, and didn't expect anything good from it ..

I still believe if it was Vaughan+Jackman, I would give the movie 12/10 instead of 9/10. It would be the best comic book movie ever.

Giving an imaginary movie a 12/10 is completely ridiculous. :woot:
