Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: THE GAME!

anyone know if this is gonna be out on pc at all? id like to build a cabinet for this and have it running

There's been no word on a PC version, so probably not.

Wow, you build arcade cabinets? That's cool.

Anyway, I've determined that I'm going to be a trophy/completion ****e for this game. I'm gonna beat it with all the characters, max them all out, and get everything I can find. I started tonight with Scott and just ran through the first few levels over and over; managed to get him up to 100 strength, 30-something WP and defence (lulz, Canadian!), and 62 speed. I beat Lucas Lee literally before he could even call out his skater minions one time. It was insane. It's like a whole different game once you actually upgrade the characters and get some of the higher level moves. You don't feel like it's completely spanking you all the time and you're barely getting by on pure, dumb luck.

I also found Mr. Chau one time and got him blinking yellow, but I knocked him slightly off the screen and couldn't see him, which allowed him to finish me off in like two sword combos. It's probably a lot easier with higher defense.

I also found him! He beat me too! Was really cool fighting him though! Didnt expect that. Wonder what happens when you beat him.

This game is freaking hard, and I love it for that. It's like the old NES days when games would kick your ass a bit. :D

It gets so much easier when you boost your stats. I now have one Miss Kim Pine with all her stats at 100 and I managed to last 8 minutes and take down something like 115 zombies in Survival Horror mode. :hehe:

I'm working on Stephen Stills' stats now. I don't want to finish the game yet because I want to beat it for the first time with my friends, so I'm running through the first level (which seems to net me the most money thanks to the Subspace Highway segments) a lot to max out all of the characters' stats.

FINALLY beat the 4th EX!! I am untouchable with this Bionic Arm!!! Woo-hoo!!!

I realized the other day that I can't get all of the trophies. One of them involves co-op, and I always go over to my friends' house to play.

But I'm still gonna try to do everything else.

Part of me is still hoping they'll do an online patch down the road. I can understand not having it ready by launch time, but a game like this pretty much demands online play anymore. Playing 4 player co-op on this would kick so much ass lol.

I do like this game tho. It really pays good homage to older beat em ups like the Simpson's arcade. In fact it did a good enough job that I enjoyed the game enough to go ahead and read the Scott Pilgrim comics finally (a co-worker had all 6 and let me borrow them, so I cheaped out lol :) ).

Playing 3-player co-op on the couch is pretty fun, but it really does limit things a lot. But I guess every game has that one little "if only" element. Maybe O'Malley'll write some more Scott Pilgrim stuff and they'll release a sequel with online co-op. ;)

I just want to play this freakin game!!! I"m mad you PS3 guys got it before us 360-ers?....:cwink:

But, I'm glad to see everyone raving about it, just made my anticipation for Wednesday go up even more.:hrt:

Yeah, it's a good buy. I'll be playing it randomly for a long time. Hell, I thought that before I had even read the series. Now I'm even more impatient for someone to re-release the X-Men 6 player arcade game on the PSN, and Live. Beat em ups need a come back.

I know the feeling, I've been wanting that game for years. It doesn't seem like they put alot of "arcade" games in the arcade....

The X-Men game would surely sell like crazy, just look at the turtle games.

:csad:

How long does the game take to beat?

Depends on if you cheat or not :D

Starting out, you'll likely have to play the first level a few times to level your character up. Just a total guess, but I've heard about 10 hours?

If you use an exploit, the game becomes infinitely easier and you could probably breeze through it in 2-3 hours?

Quicker than 10 hours, I'd say. If you level your character up to just halfway on all the stats, the game gets markedly easier. Run through the first level until you collect enough money to buy at least one of each of the secret shop's stat upgrades and you should be able to breeze through the rest of the game if you're playing with friends. You'll probably have to upgrade your stats a bit more if you're playing solo. But once your stats are decent, you can get through the rest of the game in just a few hours. It's definitely a game that's fun to replay, though, and Survival Horror mode is endlessly addictive to me.

Ive never built a ful size one, just a mini table top one for my cousins 21st bday

want to make a full sized one for myself though and this looks like a great game to do it for, hardest part will be cutting and sanding the wood - the rest is just an old pc monitor and an old mini pc i have - then just decorate with art work

unfortunately i have no idea how to make it coin operated but i might buy a coin slot and put it on anyway

Awesome. I'm sure you could probably find some kind of guide online about how to coin-operate something. You can find anything online.

ye, i think ill just put my old mini pc inside for now and have it start up with the game

got 2 weeks off work soon before going back to uni so gonna try and do it then (my parents are gonna love me leaving that behind!)

What are parents' houses for if not leaving our random junk in while we head to college? ;)

precisely, i dont think i have thrown anything out since i was like 12
