So review coming later, but I'll just say the Woodsboro hospital is one of the worst hospitals ever.
 
I'm a little disappointed. Not by the film, I did enjoy it. It was nice to see a film like this that feels like some of the older horror films I enjoy.

However, I don't know the name of the song, but there's a song that was in the other three films? And I was a little disappointed it wasn't in this. I felt like it fit these movies, so I thought they might have used it again.

Red Right Hand. Yes, it should have been right after the Scre4m logo came on the screen. But not a huge issue by any stretch.

Oh of course not. Like I said I did enjoy the film. I've been very disappointed with a lot of remakes and sequels to various horror films, especially the Nightmare on Elm Street remake which I felt never really took off over the course of the film. It looked promising, but they could have done more with it but it felt dull.

I enjoyed the pace of this film however, had a lot of fun watching it (even though the film went off twice during the showing I went to). It's just a minor disappointment that would have been nice to have heard again in the film. :yay:

Just back from it. Myself and three friends went to see it. Well first of all we all thoroughly enjoyed it. As a Scream fan I left the theater very satisfied.

My main criticisms are:

1. The kills, apart from Olivia's, were rather bland. Just stabbings. I was hoping for some more creative kills
2. They went overboard with the humor in some places, notably the death of the black cop who gets stabbed in the forehead. His long winded death, followed by his "F**k Bruce Willis" line was cringeworthy. Nobody in my packed theater laughed at it. I could hear some people groaning at it. I suspect things like this were Ehren Kruger's additions to the script
3. The wonderful Mary McDonnell was wasted. She had like two brief scenes. I think it's more because I love the actress, and when I heard she was cast as Sid's Aunt, I was expecting something substantial from her role. But she was basically just knife fodder. A missed opportunity there for some Sid/Aunt Kate scenes.
4. Dewey seemed pretty pointless in this. He was mainly just a reactionary character. Gale was out there doing her thing, trying to get to the bottom of it all like the gutsy Gale we love. But Dewey really didn't get to do much other than typical Cop stuff.

Neve was on top form as always. She never lost that Sidney Prescott magic. Like slipping back into a pair of comfy slippers for her. Her scenes with Ghostface were a joy. Gale was back to her old self. Fierce and feisty, the way I love her. The new young cast were all solid, most notably Hayden as Kirby. The opening scene was hilariously brilliant and original. My audience looooved it, as did I and my friends.

As for the killers, Jill and Charlie, I wasn't impressed by Charlie at all. He was pathetic. Culkin was about as menacing as apple pie, and I laughed when he got screwed over by Jill. But I loved Jill. Psycho chicks are the best (one reason why I love Mrs Loomis the best), and Jill was off her rocker. I loved her motive, too. Fresh and as crazy as Mickey's or Stu's, and most of all nothing to do with Maureen Prescott, which made it feel like a whole new chapter in the Scream franchise without pooping on the trilogy theme of the first three movies.

As much as I enjoyed it, it has not replaced Scream 1 and 2 in my heart. They are still in a class of their own for me, but Scream 4 is a solid entry to the franchise, and blows Scream 3 out of the water.

A satisfying 8/10 from me. Will definitely be seeing this a couple of more times before it leaves theaters. It was just like the glory days of seeing the original three movies in theaters back in the day. I felt like a teenager again :up:

I gave it a 9/10,Better than I expected and my fav of the series since the original!(I also enjoyed 2&3 though)

Police officers in scary movies are always EPICALLY DUMB. I work in law enforcement and I'm always insulted by how our boys in blue are treated in these silly horror movies ... lol (jk)... Let's put it this way... if REAL cops were in Scream 4, Ghostface would have been riddled with bullets about 30 mins into the movie. Also, WHY WHY WHY does no one own a GUN!?!?! How could Sidney, after all this time, still not have a gun permit?

I just got back from seeing this! I accidently clicked on '10' when I should have clicked on '9' for the rating. That being said, I absolutely loved this movie! 10 years of waiting was worth it!

The killer reveal honestly did throw me. I never expected Jill to be one of the killers. I thought they were going to try and set her up for a new 'survivor' trilogy of her own. Jill's motive was completely logical in today's world and they played it off perfectly.

The new cast was pretty solid, as others have mentioned. I really loved Kirby though. I was sad to see her die.

I did think that some things were a bit over-the-top, but that's Scream. They mock other horror movies. (ie. The lack of security atWoodsboro Community Hospital and the policeman being stabbed in the head and still be able to walk a few steps.)

THE LINE of the movie for me was...

Sidney: You forgot one thing about remakes! Don't f*** with the original!

I nearly died between laughing and cheering! :funny:

I rarely jump during movies but there was one scene towards the beginning when [BLACKOUT]The girls are driving and Kirby almost wrecks[/BLACKOUT].
That one got me good.

I also want to say 'thank you' to everyone for continuing to use spoiler tags. A lot of people frequent this thread and they don't want to be spoiled.
 
As much as I liked Judy, what if they built her up as a likable 4th member of the trio only for her to be a mastermind behind a new trilogy? Just things I'm thinking about how they'd do a 5 if it gets greenlit.
