Wait...stuff about Maureen is trivial in the Scream films? Could've fooled me considering the whole original trilogy happened BECAUSE of her.

They're doing a Scream special on the Bio channel right now.

I think late Feb. or early March would have been perfect for it. It still would have lost to family movies but at least it would have had some wiggle room to gain some momentum and earn some money. Now they don't have that at all, Easter is next weekend and then you have Fast and Furious 5 and then Thor so they're kind of screwed in terms of making lots of money. I finally saw Scream 2 and 3 over the weekend and I didnt like 3 at all, it looked like no one wanted to be there and Scream 2 was alright though I think I like 4 more than 2.

We still haven't gotten international numbers either. Alot of people love Never in England since she lives there now, and I personally know a few people who can't see it until next weekend. Hopefully it'll at least do it's a lil past it's budget back here.

Nan I keep thinking over the little things and the more impressed I am with the film
They way both Jill and Charlie messed with Kirby's head with comments about how he liked her , and Jill telling her she should go for it , talk about a cold hearted plan

Yeah, Jill also kept Olivia busy so Charlie could sneak up on her. They were really cold hearted against their friends.

Its amazing once you know it becomes obvious as you start putting these pieces together

I found this film enjoyable but predictable... i had predicted who would be ghost face and i was right.

I went in simply hoping that it would be better than 3 (which was garbage).

I wasn't disappointed. Though they did amp up the humor quite a bit, it still had the same vibe of the first 2 films in the series.

Anthony Andersons death was hands down my favorite, lol.

"**** Bruce Willis!"

As far as the reveal of the killer, at first I honestly thought, wtf? But after thinking about it, I felt the motivation and reasoning behind the killer was absolutely PERFECT. Hands down the best villain since the originals Stu and Billy.

Oh and for the record, Sidney's final line to the killer...EPIC.

This I definitely could agree with. It was pretty clever. I liked Hayden's character too. Actually the only one I liked in the whole movie, just wish she had been in a better movie. Emma Roberts felt terribly one dimensional to me. So when the climax finally arrived I truly didn't give a fig.

Kirby was truly a great character. They took all the best elements of Tatum and Randy from Scream 1/2 and combined them....then cast Hayden. [blackout]Really hope she pops up alive in Scream 5. If she dies, she needs an epic Randy/Tatum style killing after surviving a movie.[/blackout]

As for Jill. At first she appears to be just a Sidney clone set to take over the franchise, [blackout]but that's the point. She's marketed, dressed and acted as a nice, but bland new "survivor girl" to take over the franchise. But it's all an act, because she's so self-aware, she literally KNOWS she is the new Sidney Prescott. That was her motive to kill, so as to reboot/remake the franchise with her as the star. That was brilliant and makes her the best killer the series has had since the first movie.[/blackout]

Hope we can keep this exchange cordial.

Bob put Scream out during a bad period too. Christmas. He just loves countering them up against family fare for some reason.

Couldn't late January or mid February have worked? That's usually the time people are clamoring for a movie...

Those are traditionally pretty tame movie months.

Cheers.

I still think it can pick up. If positive word spreads then more people will go to see it. Halloween opened to a miserable box office. Then word slowly spread, and suddenly it became the most successful independent motion picture of all time.

I'm not saying Scream 4 is going to break records or anything like Halloween. Just that I think the numbers can pick up when good word goes around. It's not like it doesn't have a huge fan base. Or slasher movies in general.

Agreed. I'm a huge slasher film fan and trust me, they are VERY popular. Now, while slasher films are looked down upon by many people (mainly critics) they are still good in alot of peoples midns (such as mine) and teenagers as well as adults wil go see them. This just came out at a bad time. I've got a feeling we're in for a surprise. I just hope I'm right.

I think that was the time that Scream 2 and 3 were released in Late January/February might be wrong. Don't know why they didn't try that instead of the weekend before Easter up against a family movie.
