All they had to do was wheel her out..............all they had to do was wheel her out! Just 10 seconds of her in a hospital bed with a nurse saying "It's ok, you'll be alright" OR "Sheriff, we got a live one here!".

**** YOU, CHARLIE!

...a limp that seemed to disappear by Scream 4. :oldrazz:

Well, it had been ten years (compared to two years between Scream 1 and 3). I'm sure he could've had surgery to repair the nerve in that time period.

I don't imagine he'd be allowed to be Sheriff of Woodsboro if he hadn't been at full health anyways.

It would've been the more interesting ending if Jill had gotten away with it. Especially if they're using this to start a new trilogy. Imagine a sequel with a new killer going after the old killer. That would've been an interesting route.

Now I really don't know where they can go. Just another random going after Sidney? Now it almost seems inevitable for one of the trio to end up a killer before the franchise ends.

...unless this was truly the end.

I had something of a thought in the shower for a Scream 5 backdrop/backstory? What if Hollywood tries to get a Stab reboot off the ground, but Sidney sues their ass again? While this happens, the real truth about Jill has gotten out and she inspires some psycho teenage looneys bored in small towns like Woodsboro to do something similar to what she did but with THEIR friends? Maybe it happens two more times with someone wanting to be the new basis of Stab?

Sidney is attacked in the opening like the original Scream 3 opening by Williamson by the latest one to be inspired by Jill, and then she gets a call by another Ghostface, initially she thinks it's another one of these people, but this one clearly has a different motive. Continue movie.

You're thinking of Ghostface while in the shower, eh Billy? :oldrazz:

I am guessing that the next film will tie back to Roman, maybe through an unseen accomplice....maybe Kincaid?

It would feel weird to make Sid, Dewey, or Gale a killer at this point. I could've bought it in Scream 4....they were driven mad by the first three movies, but now...it would feel forced and its what everyone keeps expecting.

I do think the next movie needs to open with Gale dying. It would up the stakes, make a threat feel real and solve the problem of the Arquettes seperating. Though part of me thinks that there should not be another movie. Four ended really well, the killer made sense....maybe its good that it didn't perform too well this weekend. Let it end.

That's the only part you took away from that?! Pervert. :p

If they got rid of an Arquette it'd be David, before Courteney, UNLESS Courteney wanted to go before he did. Courteney's the most recognizable face of the main trio, they'd want her presence more than David.

Of course that would be optimal, but Courtney's hit series has been renewed for another season. She already had a somewhat limited role in this movie (spent half of it in an off-screen hospital). Something tells me due to her TV schedule, she will be the one who dies.

Killing off Dewey would be like killing off Dr. Loomis. I do think he should go before Gale though. If it ever came to that...

Eh. Dewey's no Doctor Loomis.

As for the problem of Cougar Town. They'd obviously try to film around her schedule next time. During the summer before the hiatus ends. If I recall the shooting of this one got pushed back a few weeks, and that was probably part of the rewrites, cutting out some of Gale's stuff so Courteney could get back to Cougar Town. If she could film an entire trilogy while doing the biggest hit series of her lifetime (Friends), Cougar Town shouldn't be much of a problem for her.

Dewey is Loomis-esque in the way that he is Sidney's protector.

Friends was an ensemble cast with 5 other lead characters. Monica had several episodes with limited story lines during her filming of the original trilogy. It was made up for by the 5 other main characters. With Cougar Town she is the only main character. The episodes center around her. There is no one else to pick up the slack. Just a hunch, but I think this one was her swan song.

Most people don't even watch Cougar Town just for her however. It's an ensemble in of itself, with sometimes her friends or her son taking up portion of the episodes. I don't really see how it could be a problem in the slightest.

I don't see either Sid or Gale going if Williamson wrote Scream 5. He's went on record by saying that he enjoys writing for them more than he does Dewey. He's the one who wanted Dewey to die in BOTH Scream and Scream 2. Test audiences saved Dewey the second time. Wes saved him the first time. And the 4th time I guess he just gave up trying to kill the bastard off.

Everything about Kirby was great....except for her hair. :oldrazz:

I'd actually say that [blackout]Jill[/blackout] is the second best, but not behind Billy, but instead behind Mrs. Loomis. That is in no small part due to Laurie Metcalf playing the role so damn brilliantly.

Other than that, I agree entirely with your summation. Really well put.

I liked Mrs. Loomis a lot as a villain, but you can't top the original. Skeet Ulrich was just so creepy (and Matthew Lillard so hilarious) that they were iconic.

BTW when I first saw Kirby's haircut I also thought it was terrible. Some kind of lame retro-'80s chic bad idea. But Hayden rocked that thing and made it look great in the movie.

I doubt there will even be a scream 5 at this point. Unless it's a total reboot with no returning cast members.

I like both Gale and Dewy. I'd hate for either to go if someone should have went [blackout]Sid, my fave of the trio, had a perfect send off when Jill "killed her" in Scream 4.[/blackout]

With that said, I'd accept Gale going before Dewy. Dewy is just too sweet and affable to be killed off. That is why Wes and Williamson brought him back to life in the final shot as an afterthought in the first film. If they were to kill Dewy, they had a great opportunity in Scream 2 (now THAT was a death scene!), but he lived. He's just too much fun. Plus he and Neve Campbell were putting a lot of effort on screen for Scream 4. I felt like Courtney Cox, even with her reduced screentime, seemed to be coasting in this one as Gale.

If someone had to go, it should be Gale. In fact, I thought Gale was going to die at Stabathon. When she lived, I decided the original were invincible....and then I grew sad that Randy was the only survivor of of the original film that wasn't....Randy was my favorite.

I'm think with how desperate the Weinstiens are for franchises, they'll green lit whatever it is Williamson has planned but make the budgets for 5 and 6 smaller. Especially considering how it's at 37 million and still has weeks left in theaters.
