Scream 4!!!!! - Part 4

Sidney wasn't a hermit. She mentioned to Jill that she likes to focus on the people she cares about instead of herself. Okay. So Dewey, Gale, her dad? Is that all? Surely in 11 years she's met some new friends. I'm kinda gonna be mad when we meet these friends in 5 if it happens and they start dying.
True.

That kind of is 4.

It really is hard to be reflective and self-conscious like that. It takes a real talent like Williamson to do it right.

Well my idea for Scream 5 was introducing the killer of be an obsessed fan of Sid.

Well, Sidney's father can be the killer.

According to Craven and co. he died between the events of 3 and 4 but because it wasn't mentioned in the film I suppose they could bring him back.

Having him be the killer would be a lousy twist though

Yeah, but they can still bring him back. If oyu ask me, it's not really a bad place to go in terms of the story. It already almost happened once.

It seems like it wouldn't be a natural progression of the story but more of them running out of people to make the killer. I thought it was clever in the first that he was a prime suspect because it made the twist more shocking.

If there is a Scream 5, I imagine we'll see more of Sidney's personal life outside of Woodsboro, so we could find out what her father is doing now. However, given how bad the drop-off this weekend is looking for Scream 4, I'm starting to feel it wo't make enough for Scream 5 to be made.

scream 4 isn't making the money at the box office to justify a scream 5.

if dimension is going to continue the franchise, it'll need to be a true reboot, not a continuation/sequel.

i'm happy with ending the syd/gale/dewey stories with scream 4. it totally redeemed the series after the crap that was scream 3 and was a satisfying/happy ending with all things considered...

I love that idea, and i don't think this means Scream 5 won't happen. However, that Rio film opened up at the wrong time WHen i whent to see Scream 4 a second time, a bunch of children came running out of te theater because they were on a field trip. Hundreds of kids, so I'm sure that halped Rio also. It's sad, really. Scream 4 is deserving more money than it's making.

It truly does. Apparantly people prefer the conventional horror films Scream is so self aware of. Or they are getting smarter about horror films and seeing them as ****. But Scream 4 isn't that at all.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. There are great horror films out there, it's just alot of them aren't in theaters. After Dark Horror films has a great selection films. Then you have things like The Collector, Hatchet, Wrong Turn, etc. Horror films are stronger in the direct to DVD category these days. The Devils Rejects, Drag Me To Hell, etc, those are ones that were in theaters and are original/ ood ideas as well. Take this one for example, which was critically acclaimed, though, it was direct to DVD.

The idea of rebooting or remaking a series after an installment that's message was ''**** REMAKES!" is dumb. Really dumb. The Weinstien's would get SOOO much **** for that.

Neve, David, and Couretney only make 5 million a picture for these. That's 15 million. The overall budget was 40 million. It's already past that at this point including overseas sales.

Horror films are made on the cheap. It's why there's never really a ''flop" in a series and we ended up with 8 Halloweens in the original series, 2 remakes. Same for Freddy and Jason's series. 8 installments for Freddy. 9 installments for Jason, 1 crossover for both. 1 remake for both. Don't count out a Scream 5 with Neve, David, Courteney just yet.

It was made for 40 million. It has 22 million here currently. 44 or 45 I believe internationally.

I hate these ideas...i hope Scream 5 never gets made.
Look. I think this was a perfect capper as well. I don't see many ways they can go either, but if Williamson comes out and he states his idea and it's the most ****ing brilliant thing ever. I'll be right back where I was with Scream 4 in the beginning. Hated the idea of it, but they had a great idea and I got excited.

If it's a repeat of that and Williamson comes forth and the idea for Scream 5 is brilliant when it's greenlit, I'm not gonna nay say it. I already learned not to do that with this one.

But the question is, do people see these films and do people clamor for them and do they care? Or maybe them not making huge money isn't as bad compared to big summer tentpole films.

Hatchet had enough attention it got a sequel. Wrong Turn is on what it's fourth installment. Though Wrong Turn started out in theaters and only went to DVD for the sequels, because the first one starred Eliza Dushku and it was the only reason I actually watched it cause I try to support all the Buffyverse actors. Same reason I watched Hatchet actually, because of Mercedes McNab. I know Hatchet 2 was in theaters for like all of a day before it got pulled for being too violent.

As for The Collector wasn't that a theaterical release as well?

22? Box office Mojo is saying 26 .. so it could get up to 30 after this weekend .. not including international. Not something to rave about but at least it didn't flop .

I'm genuinely surprised it's only pulling in those numbers. I thought with the fan base for slasher movies, and the big gap between this and Scream 3, it would have done better.

It probably won't be an outright flop, but unless it has some sturdy legs, it probably won't be a success. With the $40 million production budget and the probably somewhere around $10-20 million advertising budget, it's doubtful it'll make enough. It is kind of weird, though, to see the numbers as low as they are. Maybe the GA just doesn't have as much as an attachment to the franchise that one would assume, I dunno.

I blame all of the crappy Saw movies. Audiences have been dumbed down to accept torture porn and gore without any real story or plot as 'good' horror movies. It's a shame really...
