Scream 4!!!!! - Part 4

Would the Weinsteins really give up that easily on Scream though? I mean, they know Wes and Kevin already have stuff in mind for Scream 5, so they would just scrap it?

Scream 4 is the Batman Begins of the Franchise . It underperformed for what type of film it was . But the wom was excellent . However after a long break after a terrible sequel , hmm sounds familar . It didn't open super strong for a superhero film . Great dvd sales and strong critical reaction to Begins is why we got The Dark Knight.

Now Im not saying Scream 4 is better than Begins . Just saying their are other factors that determine box office besides quality . Scream 3 hurt Scream 4 no two ways about it

^^ It's possible, but I'm sort of doubting it. This is a new decade and a new generation. The box office feedback was altered by that in some ways.

Yes Part of it is the new kids are more into garbage like Saw , but the older fans who grew up on it , didn't exactly flock to the theaters as well . Partly it is because of waiting for video , because Scream 3 was such a letdown . No doubt imo

^^ Well, all that doesn't really matter now, if you ask me. What matters is if we are getting Scream 5. I hope we get info soon.

If it's not making money, then yes the Weinsteins would scrap it in a heartbeat, though it was Bob's baby and cemented Dimension's existence in the '90s. The only filmmaker they'll never turn on, imo, is Quentin Tarantino. He has done too much for them and has too good a rapport with Harvey. They were close to Kevin Smith for a decade but that has gone sour. Albeit, Kevin Smith has gotten very full of himself despite his films keep getting worse. It's strange.

With that said....I could see TWC or whoever owns/buys the rights in 15-20 years remaking it. If they can remake Halloween and Psycho, they'll remake any horror classic. So, they'll wait until a new generation grows up and "reinvent" it for them.

BTW guys, I hate to y'all this....but as Scream 5 is looking highly unlikely now...then Kirby died. :( Sad 'tis true and true 'tis sad. Oh well.

Kirby's first line to Jill when she picks her up: "Promise not to kill me."

Thinking more about Scream 4 after seeing it Sat night, I enjoyed it. It was entertaining. Here's my ratings:

Scream ...... 8
Scream 2.... 7
Scream 3.... 6
Scream 4.... 7

I'd rate 'em:

Scream: 9.5/10
Scream 2: 8/10
Scream 3: 5/10
Scream 4: 7.5/10

Overall a solid series.

^Lol...that's still in question...

Scream 5 idea...Sidney fakes her death...

ok, Halloween 4...

I like 4 being the swan song for the three main.
Aahah...my bad, didn't know...but Craven seems set on having them live throughout the series...pretty sure he said something like that in the imdb interview...

It really irks me they didn't have the balls to kill of Gale in this one.

For a franchise that killed of Drew Barrymore in the first tenminute and Randy, then they truly are "scared" to do what they've already done now. it's sad...

I don't know if Gale dying really would've done that much for the movie. Sure it would've indicated that Sidney and Dewey were fair game, but then it might have also unintentionally told us that "we already did something risky killed one of the three, so Sidney and Dewey are going to fine."

I don't really mind that none of the three died. It goes along with the theme of the movie that you can't keep the originals down.

Well, whiel Randy as a very important character, his death fit well in the series, even though it was sad. The final 3, the trio is where the heart is now, if you ask me.

I'm surprise so many people bash Scream 3. It's definitely not as good as Scream, Scream 2, or Scream 4, and there's alot of goofy moments, but it's still good, IMO.

I'd say:

Scream: 9.5/10 - There's a few things that make it not perfect, but it's a damn near perfect horror film. Nothing more to say here. It really is a horror classic.

Scream 2: 8.0/10 - When I found out there were two of theses and saw the first one I thought the sequel would blow so many chunks. I mean I thought ''How can you do a horror series where the killer changes?" This proved me wrong. It had the balls to kill off a major character in broad daylight, had a suprising twist with Ms. Loomis. Has IMO probably the most suspenseful scene in the series not featuring Drew Barrymore and that's Sid and Hallie in the car with Ghostface.

Scream 3: 6.5/10 - This movie ultimately falls to live up to the others because it has such a silly insane plot and while that could have worked if Williamson had written it, the hospital finale in 4 proves this, Ehren wrote it and it just falls apart. You have the trio magically in Hollywood. Gale seems to already be in her journalistic downfall? Dewey for some reason has taken to working on films that glorify his life story? It all rings false. The only thing that rings true is Sidney's isolation, but it keeps her out of the action for far too long.

Scream 4: 8.5/10 - There are just some things about this one I like so much better than Scream 2. Jill's a better killer than Mickey definitely, Mickey felt like psycho Randy and that just still feels sort of lazy even to this day, even though I loved Ms. Loomis. I'd say Ms. Loomis and Jill rank right up there side by side for me. It makes me think of Randy's line about their being a such of thing as ''terrific female serial killers." I also generally like the attitude that some of the characters are in after 11 years away. Especially Sidney and Gale. Sidney's healed, she spends no time being super emotional. Her first line to Ghostface's are VERY aggressive. ''Why don't you come after me? You got the balls for that?"

Here's mine

Scream (1996) - 9.6/10

Scream 2 (1997) - 9.0/10

Scream 3 (2000) - 7.9/10

Scream 4 (2011) - 9.0/10
