Season 6, Episode 7 "The Broken Man" Discussion Thread

I think it would be better in a arya centric episode titled No One.

Why do you feel a need to debate everything lol

Anyways... Does ANYONE know where the **** Melisandre is? she rode off with them and is no where in sight.

Oh she's around, sacrificing chipmunks to the Lord of L. in a campfire. She's been forced to scale down.

Arya should've either stayed in her hidey hole and used her skills to sneak aboard a ship...or went straight back to the House. Going back to the House, I'm following the line of thought that they'd be so busy searching Braavos that they wouldn't catch Arya right under their own noses.

Didn't they say this season wouldn't follow the books at all? So to complain about that at this point to me at least just seems silly.

I didnt say anything about the books. We have like 16 eps left and a lot still needs to happen.

I stumbled on this theory on reddit lol

So here are a few things which are interesting about the waif.
She is only seen by either Jaqen H'ghar or by Arya.
She has a very incredible back story, much like Mercy or Cat of the Canals.
She know's what Arya is doing, all the time. She knows when she lies. She can tell where she is.
She tries to force Arya to leave. She makes her insecure.
So here's my theory, get some tinfoil..
The waif is Arya. Arya is suffering from some sort of bi-polar dissociative identity disorder. A case can be made that when Arya came to the House of Black and White, the water that she drank induced this in her. In a way, The Waif is no one. Her only mission is to kill off Arya, the inner Arya, the one who can never be one of them.
This is why Jaqen H'ghar always wants the Waif to leave the room before he begins talking to Arya. He essentially wants Arya to stop behaving in a dual personality manner. He just wants to talk to Arya. So the Waif leaves. Just when Arya is alone, she appears again.
When the waif asks Jaqen H'ghar, "You PROMISED", it's actually Arya. Arya has finally asked to kill her inner self. Al lot of people have observed that Jaqen H'ghar looks a bit pleased with himself when he permits the Waif.

. And I agree that they made Jon look a bit silly.

i think it was done in order to show that Jon suckd at the Game of Thrones. He's always been the ant-social guy. People follow him for his actions, not his diplomacy. That's why he needed Tormund and Davos to speak for him.

Also what the hell with the Brotherhood without Banners (was that Lem yellowcloack in the middle btw?) slaughtering inocent people? That would only make sense if they had [BLACKOUT]Lady Stoneheart[/BLACKOUT] leading them, but rumours has it that she wont appear in the show, so.....

Thank you, Fist. Exactly. I have trouble saying anything on here without someone calling me an idiot, I am glad you saw the ridiculousness as well.

I'm not hear to argue man so please don't start anything! Totally unnecessary. Just a bad attitude is all you have and It just makes you look silly is all.

All I said is Arya is still a young child and is not as brilliant and smart as everyone thinks she is or wants to believe she is just because she is Arya and has had Many Faced Training and such. She's feisty and Naive and this who she is and always has been! She will never be the greatest warrior like Briene or Yara! She will never be as Wise and Smart as Her father Ned! Do we really want her to be? No I like Arya for who she is. So Whilst I can understand why some of you would jump at writers being lazy with writing; I just have to disagree and say it's not lazy writing it's about right she is nothing but a kid and kids can be careless! I'm not putting her on the highest smarts pedistal just because she is Arya stark

Guess so. Looks like he is REALLY bad at it then! He needs a backup crew with him at all times to speak up for him whenever what he says has no impact.

Jaime's gone a complete 180 from his book characterisation. Eesh

As wise and smart as Ned? Most characters on the show are wiser and smarter than Ned. :woot:

Give him some credit... he ***** slapped black walder

ANYWAYS..

Blackfish and Jaime stole the episode IMO... Jaime may not be his book counterpart but Nikolaj seems to be alive again and it was great seeing the Blackfish in full on pissed off mode.

Okay... forget for a second the question of how the **** Arya is not dead.

Let's say somehow she gets sliced and then stabbed repeatedly in the stomach in such a way that no vital organs in her skinny body are harmed. Now her stomach muscles are shredded, she can't possibly stand up straight, much less fight and head-butt that chick the way she does in that scene. Absolutely laughable and ridiculous.

I'm not putting her on that pedestal either, but she's not quite as young and naive as you're suggesting anymore either -this isn't Season 1! And it doesn't require "brilliance" to acquire some basic understanding of the people you've been living with and training with for an extended period of time. She's not new to Braavos or this cult, and she knows how they operate now. The Faceless Men knew she took out Meryn Trant so she knows damn well they have people all over the city watching for her. This was just stupidity for shock value. These writers aren't above that, we've seen it before.

Exactly.. the whole scene was pointless and shouldn't have been included, in this episode or the next for that matter (though i said it would fit better in next episode)

I'm surprised she ain't dead either or severely injured like you said. It is silly that the waife didn't just go for the heart! But she disobeyed her master and wanted her to suffer I guess

I don't want to debate. I just wondered know why you would say she belongs in an episode you haven't even seen or why you would say she didn't belong in this episode.

Do we know for sure that No One is an Arya centric episode? Episodes in GOT have been named for things that take up only a bit of runtime. Myhsa and Dance of Dragons for instance.

well, you cant say any episode is character focused... except like Watcher on the Wall... but from spoilers she is heavily featured in next episode.

I can understand and respect your understanding!!

I guess all I could respond about is I understand she isn't Arya season 1...but she is still a little foolish and careless to me and some people hardly change so I guess it doesn't quite shock me this happened to her. But I see your point :yay:

Can't wait to see what happens
