Secret Avengers

Here is the first teaser to "Secret Avengers" by: Ed Brubaker.

Sounds like to me that this is going to be covert/black-ops team so I wanna know who you think is going to be or who you think should be on this team.

I think the first teaser is Beast. So with that here is my theory:

Steve Rogers
Daredevil
Cable
Beast
Falcon
Sharon Carter
Herculese
Cloak
Dagger
Kate Bishop

All with the exception of Beast were part of Steve's first Secret Avengers team during Civil War. It makes sense to me that this is a team that he gathers (of those not in "Avengers" anyway) now that he's back.

What do you think?

I think it's too long a list. And of that list I'd be very surprised to see Cable in it, as I'm kinda expecting him to die in or just prior to Second Coming.


I do think that it is Beast on the teaser image, and if that's the case this may be he one Avenger title I buy. I'm not a big Brubaker fan but I love Beast. I guess I'll just have to see the lineup.

I don't see why that line up is secret I feel like they'll pull one under on us and like a lot of people said thats gonna be Venom. the image looks a lot like him. while we're all thinking we're not considering why they'd be secret. If the good guys could control a bad guy and use them to get things done awesome roll with it, though I could be completely wrong. and there is no point of Beast on the Avengers if he's not with Wonder Man. I've said my part

I don't believe the list to be too long. It's only one more than Mighty Avengers has now, and the other 2 teams have 8. So it's not like my list is huge.
New Avengers: 8 members
Mighty Avengers: 9 Members
Dark Avengers: 8 Members

I don't see why Venom would say, "I focus on the solution, not the problem." It makes more sense for it to be Beast.

you can make any quote work with a lot of characters, but like I said i could be wrong, but if it is Beast your roster is completely off since half the roster will be in the x-books excluding Beast(who is a fair candidate since he left the X-books), but Cable, Cloak and Dagger are all gonna be tied up in the X-books, Herc is gonna be dead for a little bit, Sharon Carter, Falcon, and Kate have no need to be on the black ops team, and Daredevil has an army of ninjas he doesn't really need to be on any team. I wouldn't be surprised if an Avengers team needs to stop the Hand when it comes crashing down on him.

Its got to be Moon Knight...but i really dont see him joining any team whatsoever, that guy is literally insane. He's like a less extreme version of the Punisher.

The phrase makes me think of Emoball, but I don't see him adoping a cape that only Strife or Apocolypse would appreciate.

These books don't come out until May so there is plenty of time for a lot of this to change. Plus it does say in the Cloak and Dagger one shot preview in either March or April that they have to make a "major decision".

Morbius is a good guess. Looks a lot like Cloak to me as well. I'll keep thinking...Possibly Dr. Strange?

Probably lol. It makes sense though. I say take it one-step further and with Herc's voucher of Ares loyalty after they "bond" they put Ares in charge of the Academy.

I'm thinking Dr. Strange. They've really been focusing on him as a character wanting to redeem himself for recent mistakes. I'd also hope for Scarlet Witch, but those hands look kind of masculine.

jeez i'm losing track of which threads I'm posting on. I agree I think it's the Hood and that would fit with my Venom guess too. If it is the Hood awesome cause that means he's free of Bendis! I really liked the Hood and I don't like how Bendis has used him. He ignored everything set up in the original series. Jeff Parker did a great job in the DR mini though.

I'm not saying they're the New Dark Avengers I'm saying they're basically the new thunderbolts(as in bad guys beaten and given the choice prison or do good) and the Hood didn't sell his soul that was Spider-Man and by soul I mean marriage. And now that I've brought up Mr. Parker the whole concept of the Hood is Peter Parker if he went down the complete opposite path. Instead of having a role model like Uncle Ben, He had his father who dies working for the Kingpin, and he's not even an evil character. He definitely wasn't a good guy, but he wasn't evil till Bendis decided to make him that way. He was a criminal with some ethics before Bendis got him. But like I said why would these be the SECRET Avengers if there's no reason to make them a secret.

That's a good point. It's also why I find it a but dubious for a "Secret Avengers" team to exist at all in the Heroic Age. I really hope this isn't the Avengers' version of X-Force.
