gotta give it to Marvel though they really know how to start speculation. As annoying as the blackedout characters are they could be anyone. I'll be the first to admit my theory on a solicit with no info that won't be out for 2-3ish months could be complete horse sh** or I could be right. That first image though could be any big(physically) character best bets are Beast, Gorillaman, or Venom though. I just hope if it is Beast they get Wonder Man on that team.

Immediately I thought Hob Goblin, but I doubt it. My next guess would be Taskmaster, which would be awesome.

My guesses for the first two remain:

Daredevil
Moon Knight
Iron Fist

Brubaker has written both Daredevil and Iron Fist before, and the latter has been quietly dropped from New Avengers, so he's a dark horse candidate for this team.

VENGEANCE OF THE MOON KNIGHT will last up to at least issue #7-8, but it sells too low to last beyond issue #12. Marvel may decide that it is time to give him a rest, at least in terms of ongoing titles.

Beast? So, Marvel wouldn't let Dan Slott have Beast for an Avengers title, but they'll let Brubaker? Even when Bendis Himself was declined Magneto for his Cabal? I don't buy it. Marvel would rather allow SWORD's cancellation to make Beast fade from memory than to allow anyone outside the X-Office to have him. That lesson was apparent in the late 90's.

(In Marvel's defense, Brubaker seems to outsell Dan Slott, so if they did allow him Beast, they could claim "he sells better" and is worth the terrifying risk of putting someone from the X-Men besides Wolverine and Storm in the hands of another franchise again. Still, Slott's issues of ASM still outsell most other runs on that title.)

I think it's too long a list. And of that list I'd be very surprised to see Cable in it, as I'm kinda expecting him to die in or just prior to Second Coming.


I do think that it is Beast on the teaser image, and if that's the case this may be he one Avenger title I buy. I'm not a big Brubaker fan but I love Beast. I guess I'll just have to see the lineup.

If that's Beast, does that mean he's grown a finger back? Or is the three-fingered and one-thumbed hand from the feline version a fluid concept?

Given the silhouette and the tagline I'd bet money that it's either Sentry or Moon Knight. I've LOVE if it was Sentry and they were bringing him back to his original mini roots, but frankly with what's happenin in Siege and with the fact that it'd be hard to have him as a secret anything, I'd put strong odds on it ending up as Moon Knight. I'm guessin this may end up being more of a street level team.

Some have theorized the second image is Wanda or Moon Knight. I'm not sure why it would be Taskmaster, he isn't usually on the side of angels, even when he pretends to be. He's out for Number 1.

If he did, he'd need to change his costume. Unless he wants to go for Ghost Rider appeal (and a lot of people in the MU probably don't trust Ghost Rider either).

They didn't let Slott have Beast cause he was playing a very important role in Uncanny X-Men, and Bendis couldn't have Magneto for the Cabal cause it would completely contradict what Fraction was doing with him. Also I don't get your idea that Brubaker would only use characters he's familiar with? That doesn't really make any sense.

At the beginning of Brubaker's Uncanny run, Beast talked about how he was getting articulation back in him hands, and they seemed to be reverting to a more usable form.

So who knows, maybe Brubaker will run with that.
