See God of War 3! What am I bid?

Fat Jeff got fired because Gamespot didn't give a high enough score to Eidos' Kane & Lynch. Sony tried to bribe reviewers with Lair. Microsoft gave gifts to reviewers with Halo 3. But Gertsmann getting fired really changed my perspective on Gamespot and comes to show that perhaps a lot of high profile titles like the Halos, the Grand Theft Autos, the Mass Effects, the Resistances, the Uncharteds, and many other games got higher scores than they actually deserve.

Granted WHF (not Stephen though) is going to say that a game like Resistance and Ratchet and Clank is crap simply because it's a Playstation 3 game and he's an Xbot that has expressed his hatred of the non-Microsoft consoles pretty damn well, but maybe, just maybe, Ratchet and Clank deserved the 7.5 it got.

Actually it usually just *****e bags that proclaim to know everything, and consider their opinion to be fact. If the actual scores the game gets are higher than what someone would expect, that person would then resort to the lame ass "company X paid for those reviews", when, if that were the case, why wouldn't they pay for high reviews on all their exclusives? If they did that they'd just pay for all of them, but Lair smashes that theory into the ground. As long as you agree with the village idiots you're ok, otherwise you're proclaimed ******ed, a demon from hell, and various other pathetic insults. If I just agreed all the time, then I wouldn't be messed with at all. It's not like my IQ would change, but I'd be like-minded, therefore intelligent. WHF said himself we rib each other, and this is a game forum, so who cares?
And get over yourself, GFreeman, please. Before you say Resistance is mediocre, put "I think" in front, so you don't look like a total ass. The majority of game reviewers AND gamers thought Resistance rocked, so just shut it. And you're a fanboy in denial, you think the PS3 is a glorofied paperweight, the Wii is a fad, and yet you have nothing bad to say about the 360? If those are the facts I guess you'd have to be a 360 fanboy, because what sane person would pick a paperwight or a fad over a real console with great exclusives?
Your argument is hilarious. "If a company is willing to spend some of their money, why wouldn't they be willing to spend a massive amount MORE of their money? Ha, I win!". Do you mouth breathers really think this stuff up on your own? There has to be some sort of comedy mailing list you're all subscribed to that feeds you this garbage. Hey, EA didn't buy Bioware, that's bull****. I mean, come on, think about it, if they were going to buy one company, why wouldn't they buy all companies? Did they? Hell no. So obviously they didn't buy Bioware. lulz I win!1

Christ. And no, if I'm a fanboy for anything, it's the PC at the moment. I pretty much outright hate the 360 for crapping out on me, I owned a Wii for a while before getting tired of it, and as a matter of fact, the PS3 is currently the only console I have any interest in owning in the near future. And this is exactly what I mean, so thanks for proving my point. You and the rest of the extra chromosomes club are so insecure about someone disagreeing with you that you write everyone off as a "fanboy" for whatever console you're currently opposing. I've basically pissed all over the 360 for a solid year now, but I'm a 360 fanboy because I recognized that Resistance was trash? Ha, whatever man. The sad thing is, I think this is probably more a reflection on your mentality than anything else. You see the whole world in terms of a console war and all the "sides".

*fap fap fap* uh, Resistance, oh yeah...*fap fap fap*...ugh, oh gawd, yeah baby, just like that Resistance, yeah, oh yeah, oh I'm so ****ing close, uh...*fap fap fap*...uuuuGHGHHH!!!.....oh god, oh god, oh god....damn Resistance. You are tight baby. Damn....that was nice.
I can't believe you're still trying to argue with people. Give it a rest kid. Look at yourself. You just tried to counter "Resistance reviews were bought and paid for"...by listing Resistance reviews and posting a pie chart. Come on. Have some self respect.

Resistance is a really good console FPS, regardless of what you guys may think. Seriously. :\
Horse ****. It was a ****ty game then, and it's a ****ty game now. Orange Box is a good FPS. Crysis is a good FPS. Resistance is just Insomniac giving everyone a mediocrity *******. It's just as wretched as all those cookie cutter WWII shooters.

Except everybody else in this thread?

And honestly, GFreeman, you haven't made a single argument as to why Resistance didn't deserve decent reviews.
I've made them, pay attention to help yourself avoid embarrassing situations like this. It was a boring, mediocre, derivative game that couldn't compete with a first person shooter released on a last gen console in 2001. It was an awful amalgam of cliches and Insomniac's short comings as a developer, cooked up in the ovens of video game hell.

No, it isn't, and since a terrible game got looked upon favorably but then was swept under the rug and totally forgotten by everyone, they probably did. You act like I'm saying they walked into review-mart and walked out a few million lighter and holding a certificate for "1 million gullible souls to buy this garbage". They buy with advertising, they buy with exclusive content, they buy with gifts, etc. They give, and the reviewer gives back. It's how it works, and it's never as obvious as it is when a game so widely reviled like Resistance isn't treated as such in a review.

I bet I can cut some X's into my wrists too. Maybe even write some poetry. You've unleashed an emo beast hippie.

The same could be said of the Mario and the Zelda games.

The Nintendo fanboy in me refuses to beleive that.

So you would claim that Mass Effect had paid off reviews? That's ridiculous, considering that I doubt you've even played it thoroughly enough to have an opinion.

I haven't played Mass Effect at all. I'm not forming an opinion of it at all.

I'm just saying can we take any high rated game review, unless it is a Nintendo game since they're perfect anyways, seriously anymore from a major game site?

Well I can honestly say that the game has a laundry list of problems with it. It's the 'sum of its parts' thing again, but most of the glarring issues weren't raised very much in reviews. This is like the Skrull invasion baby, who do trust?

I've played through all of Resistance, it's not the best FPS ever, but it's definetly in the top 5 for FPS games this gen. With Resistance 2 they're really going to nail it out of the park, in all likelyhood. If you guys think Resistance is over-rated, than be prepared for Resistance 2 to get similarly 'over-rated' scores, rpovided they tighten up the way damage and healling works.

True, but the ones that are actually accoladed by the majority of people who play them as well as the press should dispel any doubts. The ones, however, that have a cult following and seem to be forgotten about a year after their release should probably be viewed with suspicion.

You people are *******s. 7 posts, and not one comment on the "you're so tight" thing I wrote. :csad:

Mass Effect, I haven't played it, so I don't know whether the reviews were deserved or not. But a lot of games, they really don't deserve their scores. Fable got a lot of good scores, but everyone, everyone was disappointed. Oblivion wasn't that great either. Perfect Dark Zero wasn't either. Halo 2 and to a lesser extent Halo 3 didn't deserve their scores either, though I still think they were great games, just closer to 8s and 9s than 10s. And don't even get me started on the crap Nintendo puts out that people rave over. You've got corporate pressure, you've got nostalgia, and you've got personal bias, all working to make video game reviews entirely unreliable as a measure of quality. They're no more important than the universally pleasant previews are.

I wasn't disappointed. Most of the disappointment stemmed from what it didn't have, not from what it did had. And what it did have was all the parts of an actual great game, but some people can't just be content with letting a good game be a good game.

I believe we argued once about this for about 5 pages on GR.

:o

Resitance has sold 2 million worldwide on the PS3 userbase, it's not a cult status game, in fact you can find 32 player matches online easilly. It's still being played a lot.

"Lol PS3 has no good games"

But even so if Resistance wasn't good, the online community wouldn't be as active after a period of time.

Now if Resistance a 90 percent game now? versus all the competition? I'd say no, it's more like a really good 80's range. But that sort of thing happens with every game almost that was released over a year ago. Resistance is good and still qualifies as such.

I'm sure that's why there's so many people out there talking about how great the game is, now.

Games tend to sell better with less competition. What competition did Resistance have until November (that is when CoD4 came out, isn't it)?

Resistance had little competition on the PS3. It didn't hit 2 milllion until like 6 months ago or something.

Maybe you don't see them on GR, but Resistance is still very popular as far as online console FPS games go, and you will easilly find people who enjoYED rESISTANCE AND STILL ENJOY IT TO THIS DAY AND WILL DEFEND IT ON MESSAGE BOARDS.

I see big foot more often than I see people on GR defending anything :o

But no, it's not popular.

I don't understand why you started those caps where you did. Is that supposed to indicate a crescendo or what? I understand there are people willing to defend it, but that doesn't make it deserving of the scores it got.

I like to imagine that her partner crawled under the desk and started "distracting" her while she was typing. That's how I explain all of Zenien's errors :o
