Ditto, well... maybe not top 5

Hobgoblin
Kaine
Venom
Jackal
Kraven

But he's still pretty awesome eh?

Rez you read Clone Saga yet!!??

Yeah, he's great. Plus I'm big on dinosaurs, so he and Sauron automatically get some respect.

Haven't read the issue yet, but I read your summary in our thread. I have a lot of confidence that it will be great. In fact, quite recently I've changed my opinion on the Carnage arc, to some degree. I still feel as that- for Carnage, another villian high on my list- it was terrible. But as a love letter to the Clone Saga it works very well.
Basically, here's the deal: If Scarlet shows up, I don't care if the entire thing is garbage; I'll still be happy. If my precious blue hoodie doesn't appear, then the story better rock anyway.

I don't know... that "haha" sounded like a real kick in the nuts...

I'd watch yer back if I were you. :(

:D ;)

Thats true, I wouldnt butt heads with Doc Ock. I've done it. It hurts. :( :down

Ok, I just read issue 28. I really enjoyed it. Ock's reaction was everything I wanted it to be.

He was angry because Spider-Man was 15 years old when they first clashed. He felt humiliated and betrayed because he thought Peter and Aunt May had been laughing at him behind his back. But best of all, he was pissed because he missed the opportunity to snap Peter's neck when he unmasked him back in ASM #12.

And I loved how Peter was so freaked out by Ock's anger that he didn't get smart with him once. He didn't mock him, he didn't address him as Ock, or Octopus, or Doc or anything like that. He was that desperate to try and calm Ock down that he kept addressing him as Otto. Didn't help though :D

The Jordan kid and his girlfriend was an interesting angle on the story. You could see the similarities they were trying to show between Peter and Jordan. Liked the convo Jordan had with Peter about helping him become a Marine Biologist, and Peter assuring him that nobody knows Octopi like he does :D

Brave kid too confronting Ock. I was wondering what reaction he would evoke from Ock when he pointed out that if he kills Spider-Man, he'll be killing a family man who has people who love him and depend on him. Again, Ock's reaction did not disappoint as he didn't give a damn about any of that :D

The art was really cool. The writing was great. Ock was a badass. Great come back for my fav tentacled villain.

And best of all, just when he's captured in Sensational, he's been set free by Baron Zemo over in the pages of Thunderbolts. And is looking to get revenge on all the super heros

Ock, is this book worth my money, or should I cancel my subscription to it along with ASM and FNSM (which I haven't read in months)? Sounds like it may still be worth the money...

Enhanced by what, exactly? I know she used to be ranked as "athletic human" stength, so is she wearing some kind of strength-enhancing bodysuit that bumped her up a level or two? Even if that's the case, an "enhanced strength" character is still only about one-tenth as strong as the Lizard, who can lift 12 tons.

In PPTSSM #89, she received various powers from the Kingpin including the ability to generate bad luck for her opponents, increased agility, the ability to extend claws and other "cat-like" abilities. In the ASM #352-354 (I think,) arc where SPidey gives up his powers through a machine that muted his abilities, Black Cat lost those powers when Spidey used the machine to get his own back. She subsequently went to the Tinkerer in a future issue, (I can't remember the exact number,) and got some devices that mimicked those abilities, (agility, claws, etc,) incorporated into her suit.

Now considering that the machine that took her powers away only muted them, not removed them altogether, it's not a stretch to think that the machine's effect lessened over time and her abilities came back, enabling her to take on the Lizard, or to simply say she's still using the devices the Tinkerer made for her.

In my humble opinion it's worth it. A good story to come out of a bad decision. I don't like the unmasking any more than you do.

But, this story was great. Ock's reaction to Peter's unmasking was handled very well. He was major pissed off over several things, as I hoped/expected him to be.

Great read IMO. Not to mention it's great to see Ock again. His appearances in Marvel Knights last year was not worthy of him. This one issue was a much better outing for him.

Is he in character, Ock that is? I had fears that they wouldn't handle his reaction right.

Well, it looks like this series gets another shot, then.

I might look into this issue, m'self. Doesn't sound that bad.

Very much so.

He rants and raves, and viciously attacks Spidey. And there's a nice flashback to ASM 12, where Ock recalls where he had Spidey unmasked, and how he should have snapped his neck back then.

Yeah... this issue was one of the BEST Spidey tales told in years.

Ock acted very much like how I would have guessed he would have acted, and I absolutely loved the continuity notes with mentions of May and the scenes from ASM #3 & #12.

:)

Glad you guys liked it. I thought it was an excellent issue myself!

Heh, i KNEW Roberto was going to do great stuff in this book.

Read this issue this morning. Definitely a good story, and a great Ock reaction. Kudos to the references to the first Ock stories, especially when he unmasked Peter and just tossed him aside, thinking it was a joke.

And also how he thought he and his Aunt May were always laughing at him. Sacasa did a good job. Crain's work was pretty good in this issue, and I liked the flashback parts, he pretty much about nailed the stuff panel for panel, recapturing the Ditko pencils.

So far, so good with the unmasking in my eyes. Everything has been handled well and the continuity was there. Ock was actually still lifting weights when he found out, which shows that at least THEY'RE TRYING to have a tighter continuity. Hopefully, they can keep this up and not sputter out much like things seem to do lately. :O

But great issue, and a very nice story. The character of Jordan was also a nice touch, paralleling Peter in a way.

As Doc Ock said, it was (IMO) a great story to come out of a bad decision. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa shows again that he gets the character. He's clearly a fan writing for the fans, as opposed to making a name for himself via a big 'earth shattering' story. Just his bad luck that he's writing at a time when so many old school fans who would really appreciate his writing are ditching the titles in droves.
