i am scared that Shane Black is going to drop out because of creative differences. right now its very popular in hollywood to have a sequel/prequel/reboot type movie where movie feels like a big deja vu. i dont see Shane directing a movie like this. he is to original.

Predators already came out years ago.

Shane Black brining something new to the table was pretty much the reason he got the job in the first place. And with his writing partner (and longtime friend) Fred Dekker writing something like "If you're a Predator fan, I will ony say one word: Yes" it doesn't seem like there are misunderstandings between them and the studio.

I would LOVE for that to be the way to reintroduce Dutch. I loved the small mention of him in Predators that somewhat references this, too.

Fox has scheduled PREDATOR for release on March 2, 2018.

Seems weird to wait 2 years for this movie. That will be five years between Iron Man 3 and Shane Blacks next movie.

Reboot has a bad stigma, so it's marketed as a sequel while introducing a whole new cast, but still characters that are familiar so you can play familiar grounds.

Just like Jurassic Park and Star Wars. They're reboots.

Neither Jurassic World nor The Force Awakens are reboots. They're sequels.

Not so much, since the Predator on the poster featured in Predators, and the official Facebook page is referencing every solo Predator movie. But I suspect it takes place on Earth, which would make it hard to reference beyond "Hey man, whatever happened to Royce?"

More like legacy sequels or soft reboots. You can argue that Fast 5 is a soft reboot.
