Same way I feel about AVP2. Not a very good film, but I still enjoy it. Partly because the small town setting reminds me of my small town so it was like watching the movie unfold in my very town. So it's a guilty pleasure.

Speaking of Predator 2 and Danny Glover did anyone else feel like we needed Mel Gibson in the film lol Riggs.... Lol it may have been better.

I did. Whole time I wondered where is Riggs. Or at least character like him. Didnt mind Glover, just felt someone bit crazy is missing on (good side), specially bit to the end. Glover tried make it work, but you dont buy it. I think Lethal Weapon dynamic with Predator would work. It would be basically what is Aliens to Alien.

I hope this will be good. I don't know how I feel that Fred Dekker in working on this. He made RoboCop 3.

He also made Night of the Creeps and Monster Squad. Definitely watch those!

Talking to IGN, the Nice Guys writer/director said that he was very conscious of Scott's relationship to the Alien franchise when it came to how he was approaching The Predator.

"How can I follow in the footsteps of someone who re-invents and brings that much event-ized quality to a pulp franchise?" he wondered aloud, continuing, "The worst thing you could hope for in one of these is a shot in bright sunlight of a field and the Predator just kind of walks on and 'hello' — you want to do... I keep going back to Ridley Scott, the way he captured the alien in that first movie. The sense of mystery and portent.

If we could just cut into a little piece of that — that sort of vibe — and then I think there's humor to be had too. And tonal shifting."

That's great news. I really enjoyed the katana fight in Predators, but the Predator full view in a field did take away from it.

I'd like to see this take place in a different time period, where the weapons weren't as advanced as they are now. I know the Predator's weapons will still be way more advanced that anything we have today, but what made the first movie great was that Dutch beat it using ingenuity, and did not rely on military weapons…cause he had none!

It would be cool to see this take place during the Colonial times, the Civil War, or during the Roman or Greek era.

The Predator could be used as the inspiration for many legendary monsters. Sasquatch, yeti, the minotaur, ogres, trolls, all sorts of creatures can be based on The Predator.

I thought about this before as well. The Predator character always had the potential to have a franchise done as an anthology. If the Fast and the Furious franchise can shell out 8 movies then so can the Predator.

It's fine for a what if comic book or maybe a series of episodes of some television series but making it Predator vs is just a failure waiting to happen. Look at the travesty of the AVP films to get an idea of why pitting the Predator against something as opposed to people trying to survive against being hunted to death is a failure.

The first Predator is Predator Vs Soldiers. The second one is Predator Vs Cops. When we say Predator Vs Vikings, Samurai, etc, it obviously means that we want to see the Predator in a setting where he's hunting them and they are fighting for survival.

It's about what TYPE of people have to survive/fight against them. If it's just "Predators vs. modern-day soldiers" every freaking time, then the formula will get stale rather quickly. Whatever other issues they may have had, Predator 2 and Predators at least tried to do some different stuff, which I appreciated (even if the results were mixed).

And give the Predators strange form of warrior/hunters code, having them go up against groups like the Samurai, or the Vikings, etc could lead to some interesting compare/contrasts as well.

I've liked the idea of placing the Predator in a situation where he's being hunted by some other species or by his own kind. A rogue Predator if you will.

AVP failed miserably in the box office because it fails as a film. The characters were walking cardboards, the story was a wet rag, the visuals were rungs lower than Predator 1 and 2. AVP2 was just an abomination on celluloid.

Predator vs other warriors from different eras will be a fresh concept as long as it's executed well. The differences in warrior codes, weapons, environments and how the Predator adapts to it is a promising concept. If it's treated as a "let's plug in a Predator against these guys for sh*** and giggles" then it will surely be horrible.

With all that said, I just want a live action Batman vs Predator. Is that too much to ask from the world?
