Shane Black Directing Predator Sequel!

T2 is better than every Predator movie put together.

That wasn't my point. I was talking about the overall quality of both franchises sequels compared to the first iterations.
Terminator went down hill, Predator didn't.

Predator > T2 any day of the week.

Also anyone worried about Holbrook, looks like Fox wants to get big names for the other roles according to the THR article.

I would never give a perfect 10 to any of those movies. Come one people they are great entertainment, but a perfect 10 is for a perfect movie. No Arnold movie is perfect.

But this is Superhero-hype, it is expected that this is the kinds of movie people will adore.

Terminator - 8/10
Predator - 8/10
Terminator 2 - 8/10

This new Perdator movie will suck. I have no doubt about it.

Yeah, Perdator sounds like a movie that would suck.

I'd say they are perfect for what they are. What don't they do right? What do they attempt, but fail at?

The original Predator is very nice, but most of the actors are terrible it it. Good acting is very important for a great movie.

Terminator 1 also has this problem but in smaller scale.

Terminator 2 has this abosolutely terrible actor Edward Furlong. He is so terrible that It aways gives me a bad feeling watching the movie. Thank god for the amazing Linda Hamilton.

Perfect movie for this genre? Alien and Aliens. Those are perfect. Not a bad thing can be found in them. Story? Great! Acting? Great (mainly in Alien). Directing? Great. Visuals? Great.

But this is just my opinion. I am not pushing it to anyone. Every one has the right to enjoy any movie they want. :yay:

Since that iconic 1987 John McTiernan-directed film, there have been two failed sequels (Predator 2 and Predators) and two failed spinoffs (the Alien vs. Predator films). Now down to the final sequel naming-convention of adding “The” to the title, Black spoke to Collider while promoting the book On Story – Screenwriters and Filmmakers on Their Iconic Films about his practical and narrative plans for The Predator.

Black confirmed filming begins in Vancouver in “mid-February,” a year ahead of its release on February 9, 2018, with pre-production commencing in a matter of weeks. He also commented on directing such a mismash of genres and his take on the blockbuster project.

“I think the Predator movies have slightly veered from typical sci-fi in that there is a sort of thriller aspect to them. I think it should be scary, I think it should be funny, and I think ultimately it should be wondrous and about perceiving things that human beings very seldom get a chance to see… I don’t mean movie audiences I mean characters in the movie. I’m not saying the movie will be nothing anyone’s seen before (laughs).”

He said Holbrook would be joined by a similar archetypal group of characters as the original, although Black said he intended to change it up just a bit from the pure muscle-mass put on screen in that film.

“I think it’ll be interesting to get a group of credible guys—the hallmark of the first one is you have guys together that are kinda funny and self-referential and also very tough. I don’t know that we’re going to deviate over much from that, but there are at least a couple of factors that we’ve deliberately chosen to make it not just that group of buff, tough guys.”

Black also said that, given Fox’s willingness to go with R-ratings on Deadpool and the aforementioned Logan, they were more than willing to let The Predator be true to its roots and deliver another adult blockbuster.

“Fox has been very cooperative. I mean part of it is the success they had with Deadpool, but I also made a case—and I think they agreed—that fans of the Predator generally, probably aren’t looking to go to see a PG-13-rated version of it. It would be more of a letdown if it was sort of tailored to a family friendly audience than if it were allowed to play out to the same scale and level that the first R-rated one did.”

Black is talking sense about studios trying to turn franchises into PG13 materiel that are not suited to that market.

The most obvious quote ever. It applies to most franchises that started off as R-Rated too. And yet somehow studio execs are blind to that.

I think they were more blind to it until..DEADPOOL. Even then, you also had Don't Breathe being a huge hit, along with John Wick.

People didn't go to see Predators because...it was just an okay movie. A rental at best.

This is an interesting watch

Didn't know they had to hire a massive bodyguard to tail Sonny Landham 24/7 around the 1987 Predator shoot .............. not to protect him, but to protect others from him. Must have been a bit of a loose cannon!

Olivia Munn Joining Boyd Holbrook in Shane Black's 'Predator' Reboot (Exclusive) http://thr.cm/N0CnZQ

Olivia Munn is in negotiations to join Boyd Holbrook in The Predator, Twentieth Century Fox’s reboot of the alien action movie series that Shane Black is directing.
Holbrook is starring in the movie, which was co-written by Black and Fred Dekker.
Plot details are being kept under wraps but this is known: the story plunks the deadly alien hunter, who audiences have seen fight in jungles, concrete jungles, frozen wastelands and alien planets, in the harsh environment of … suburbia.

Munn will play a scientist opposite Holbrook’s Special Forces commando.

Sho she is in similar role as Elpidia Carrillo as Anna in original Predator.

Suburbs. Unless it's isolated and not like how Orange County connects to LA seamlessly, then it's hard to picture. Unless the area is contained, or it's suburbs stuck in a rural area in a forrest or desert. And the nearest big city is 10 miles away.

Shane Black.
Fred Dekker.
The Predator.
The Suburbs?

This gonna be TONS OF FUN!

And Olivia Munn's my Goddess, so.....

Did anyone else enjoy Predators? I enjoyed that one a lot.

Not really getting the suburbs things. I watched the 'making of' for Pred 1 & 2 there and the production team went to lengths to explain that the Predator is drawn to areas of conflict to seek out worthy foes, hence the jungle battleground in Predator 1 and the turf war battleground of 1997 L.A. in Predator 2. But suburbia? ................

Yeah, I thought it was fun. A bit too dependent on the first movie's story and structure (they shouldn't have held back as much on story ideas and budget), but it had a great cast and Nimrod Antal did a good job. I should rewatch it. Haven't done so in a while.
