Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings General Discussion and Speculation thread

Simu did a Reddit AMA today

Got my tickets for the Thursday night preview today. Really looking forward to it - especially since it's the first MCU movie since Captain Marvel that I'm going with one of my best friends, who we had a tradition of seeing them together, opening night.

I'm about to book my tickets. Could someone tell me the runtime of the film please?

My expectations for the movie are a blank slate save for one thing: I hope Liu's Shang-Chi is as likeable as he is in real life. Somehow I don't think that's asking for too much.

The trailers can only show so much but it didn't seem like they were going for anything different to that with him. No trace of Strange/Stark-like arrogance lol. I hope the film is received really well and that leads to a lot more of Shang Chi/Simu around the MCU.

How much does Shang Chi need to make domestically to prevent the Eternals from moving dates? Experts have said that if the film underperforms, Disney will probably move the Eternals and then causes a domino affect for all of the MCU films released in 2022, however, they have never said how much it needs to make to underperform. They never said "If Shang Chi makes this amount and underperforms, Eternals moves."

I'd like to know this too. It also seems kind of unfair to pin that on Shang-Chi because it's the new kid on the block in the MCU. Eternals is too but that has more star power than Shang-Chi does.

My guess is anything under 50m for the 4-day is gonna trigger Disney.

Got my IMAX tickets for Sunday, and it was an empty hall when I booked. Good that we might have the entire hall by ourselves but bad that it might be a bit concerning for the BO if that’s a sign.

Seeing it Tonight. Special Screening IMAX format. Looking forward to seeing how they do The Mandarin's story and the legacy of the Ten Rings.

So....when is the quality of these movies going to dip like some keep claiming now that the Infinity Saga is over? Cause....it ain't starting with this one. This movie is awesome

Glad you seen it. I'm watching it Saturday but to answer your question, I Felt Black Widow was lackluster. Not a terrible movie but just plain forgettable.

I liked Black Widow. At the very least, like you said I can see it being plain or mediocre to some. But then they follow it up with THIS. The quality is still clearly there

I should be seeing this either tomorrow or Saturday. Kind of excited for it.

I thought this was one of the better origin films in the MCU. The climax gets a little long and frankly, kind of ugly to look at and the movie is better when it focuses on the more grounded martial arts angle and not the full mystical stuff.

Very excited to see the character going forward though and his growth in the MCU
