Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings General Discussion and Speculation thread

I feel like this forum has become the default section to discuss martial arts movies!

There haven't been films with martial arts since Kung Fu Panda. :o

I have a Shang chi movie outline that I have been writing to pass the time.
A Bit long but will post.

There seems to be no more news for this production. It's as if it has come to a grinding halt.

Nah that’s fairly normal. They just had some big announcements but it’s not like they’re going to make announcements every day til the movie comes out. They’re probably doing some background work like set design or settling contracts

I hope this is true. I wanted him in this movie and in the MCU, and having him in this film would be a huge get.

Although it says he's in negotiations to play Zheng Zu, who is Shang Chi's father. So is the Mandarin not going to be his father after all?

Is Zheng Zu even going to be a villain along the lines of Fu Manchu? Or have they changed it so that he's good now? I can't see Jackie Chan playing a villain.

They just cast the lead a few weeks back. The script itself may not be finished or going through rewrites.

It will be a bit before we get more solid information from reliable sources.

Has Jackie Chan ever played a villain? It will be interesting to see (assuming he takes the role, and they keep the character a bad guy).

The Mandarin might turn out to be an advisor to Zheng Zu. One who wants to lead the Ten Rings in a more warlike direction and so assassinates Zhen Zu. Which would make Shang's story about avenging his father.

I have never heard of this website before that is reporting this rumour. I don't see it being talked about anywhere else. Nevertheless, I hope there is truth to it, because Jackie Chan would be the biggest Asian star they could get for this movie.

Interesting Rumour.Im guessing if its true that Zheng zu will be good.

Would be a Huge get by the way to have Jackie

A Revenge story instead of an Evil parent story. If true I got to say Smart by Marvel.

Allows them to draw inspiration from classic Bruce Lee revenge movies without

That doesn't fit the tone of a Marvel movie or a Jackie Chan movie though. Bruce Lee's revenge movie was Fist of Fury and that was serious and ultra violent, bordering on almost Punisher-like vigilantism. His other films weren't like that. He died at the end too at the hands of the police because he wasn't going to surrender and there was no way out for him after murdering all these people.

I was actually thinking of Enter the Dragon. Bruce was avenging his Sister in that one

I would wait until it actually gets reported by anyone or thing even remotely reliable myself.

The Hype has a real issue with our members coming into a thread and dropping a link to Nobodyhaseverheardof this.com or Fanboyrumormonger#176.com with some supposed scoop and then you find out no legitimate trade has anything to back it up.

I think she had died some time before as the wounds were not so raw and he was acting as if he wasn't in a state of grief or vengeance. He wasn't avenging her as part of the main plot either. He merely killed O'hara because he attacked Bruce with those bottles and was trying to fight dirty in a tournament.

In Fist of Fury his teacher had just been murdered and Bruce was on the rampage.

Bruce in Enter The Dragon is ABSOLUTELY there to kill the man that he holds responsible for the death of his sister. He was looking for any excuse to do that. He's reticent to go on the mission at first but decides to. Later he is made aware of the way his sister was killed. After that there's no doubt he is gonna look for any excuse to kill O'hara.

Would love to see Jackie in this and he very well might end up in it, but I don't trust that source. I'll wait to see someone else more reputable report it.
