The Dark Knight Rises Should Nolan listen to fan's opinion?

While tons of fans have their ideas on how BB3 should be done....do you think that Nolan should listen to all the suggestions here?


For example, adding catwoman inside the 3rd film JUST because batman needs a love interest in every movie....and adopting the title...shadow of the bat even when the average or common joe thinks it is a bad title...



So do you think Nolan should ignore the fans opinion and suggestion here? The last time a director is forced to listen to the fans....we get spiderman 3...with a venom that no fans like...when the director ignore the fans...we get batman and robin.

I think he should listen in a sense, but I don't think if he doesn't do a sugestion, fans should start hating him or something stupid like that. If he feels a suggestion is good and wants to apply it to the movies, it's up to him.

The last thing Nolan needs to do is listen to fans, I'm sure he's got a mountain of information from the DC archives to draw ideas from, fans who don't like it that he doesn't listen to them, tough luck.

In a word, no, at least, not to the majority of the fans who give pretty stupid demands just based off their own inner wish for certain things that just won't make sense or need to be included in a film. However, the fans were the ones clamoring for Christian Bale, and while Im sure that wasn't the reason he was hired, it certainly couldn't have hurt his chances.

Nolan, more than any other director I've ever seen in this genre, goes for actors that on the surface may not be all that obvious to the role, but in hindsight, was a wise decision. One need to look no further than Aaron Eckhart & Heath Ledger, both of whom drew considerable disdain from the fanboy elite (especially Ledger, who now ironically, is the only person most people want to see as the Joker ever again in life.)

Most of the time fans are only looking for someone who may resemble the part or who's played a similar role in their career. Nolan is looking for true actors, and since he hasn't been off too bad yet, I think he should continue to do things the same way

^ Very true, Nolan chooses the actor first, not the character. Fans who don't like that are just fearful of the unknown, as you say they want someone who's played a similar role before, it's just a comfort thing. If say Angelina Jolie is chosen to play Catwoman, there's a sigh of relief because we've all seen that she can play that sultry temptress role, the fanboys can breath a little easier because she's done similar roles and there will be almost unanimous praise in the casting, but if say Hilary Swank is chosen, cries of 'bad casting' and 'totally wrong' and 'hell no' fill the message boards, merely because she hasn't played that sultry temptress role, despite being as good an actress.

I think fans like to have a comfort zone when it comes to comic adaptations, they want things done a certain way, but when someone like Nolan comes in a pulls the rug out, there's panic, as if he's purposely trying to ruin their character, but really, he's just choosing the best possible cast to make the best possible film, and so far, it's reaped dividends.

I do think he should gauge the general mood and expectations of the broader public though, and whether he decides to meet these or pull surprises is up to him. It takes a bit of both. but he needs to know what people are thinking about Batman, the times, film, general pop entertainment, superheroes etc. And he's done brilliantly so far, he should just keep doing what he's been doing.

IF anything, he could led his ear to Jonah a little more. He's enough geek for all of us.

I don't know that Jonathan Nolan is a huge geek...

Although one have to give credit to nolan from being able to suprise the fans with his decision.


Alot of fans seems to want to see a film that can appeal to him or her alone...without caring for any other people.


Being able to win over a huge amount of fans is hard.

He can chose to or chose not to. He's got no reason to change his formula now unless he's planning on doing something that's completely opposed to the spirit of the Batman franchise.

NO. The guy should do what he does. Whether you want to agree with his creative choices or not, its hard to deny that he creates engaging characters in a well crafted story.

In terms of who should be included in the next movie i think Nolan should take into consideration what people are saying but if he doesnt decide to do so then he should dresss the fact that he heard what was being said.
