The Dark Knight Rises Should There Be A ‘Joker’ Spin-Off Film? Brett Ratner Thinks So

The scariest thing about this is knowing that Ratner has a some decent power in Hollywood given that most of his movies have been moderately to very commercially successful. At least a Joker movie won't come for awhile since he currently has Rush Hour 4, Beverly Hills Cop 4 and God of War all on his plate.

wtf? this is wayy worse than wb thinking about a watchmen sequel...ratner proves hes ******ed with that downey jr statement...what a load of crap

Leave Brett Ratner alone.
I'M SERIOUS!!

What's so wrong with RDJ? He's a FANTASTIC character-actor if he tries to be.
but he's also the same guy that ragged on TDK and said " **** dc comics " . do you honestly think a guy like that would put any dedication to playing the joker ? :whatever:

1) He was joking. The sooner fans learn this, the better.
2) RDJ would never phone in a performance. Especially not now, at this time of his career.

an even better idea for this movie would be to have every DC character make a pointless 30 second cameo appearance, that way it ****s on everyones favorite characters in one movie.

and did WB really say they were thinking about a Watchmen sequel? yikes...
I mean Ive always wondered what happened afterwards...but still YIKES

If a Joker spin-off movie was ever made, I wouldn't do it as a prequel. The Joker's origin should never be explained.

My long-brewing idea, one I'd love to write a screenplay for some day, is for a demented twist on "Citizen Kane". The Joker "dies" in battle with Batman, or so it seems. And so the story unfolds from the perspective of the young reporter charged with writing his obituary. The guy wants to get a sense of The Joker's life story. So he goes to Gordon, then to some of The Joker's victims, then to Arkham Asylum. He's kidnapped by Harley Quinn, then rescued by Batman. And in all these episodes, he is told a different story about The Joker. And this becomes The Joker's presence in the film. As a recurring character in all these flashbacks, each from a different perspective and with a different narrator. Of course, in the end you'd find out that The Joker isn't so dead after all. :cwink:

If Ledger were alive, and Jonah was writing it sure. That combo was the lightning in a bottle for this depiction of the character. The actor has to be really amazing as Joker and he has to be written strong and deep enough to support a feature length film. I've always wanted a Joker movie to be honest.

i wonder if Ratner knows how much ppl hate him lmao

I wonder if he knows who Tim Drake is or if he understands anything from the world of Batman that he hasn't read for quick skim through wikipedia. I remember in an interview after X3 he said that hes read EVERY X-Men comic ever...TWICE. I couldnt believe the bulls*** I was reading and that he thinks he knows what hes doing

Well like Crook said he probably is joking... If not, god help us all.

maybe an animated Joker story, possibly using Ledger/Nolan's incarnation, possibly not. A movie about his seduction of Harley Quinn (a morbidly romantic comedy) would be interesting.....so long as a decent director had control

if X-Men can produce spin-offs so can Batman!
bring on the movie where Gordon takes down a whole building of terrorists and call it Die Hard! that would be original and amazing...
or Gotham scientists learn how to clone dinosaurs, and call it Billy and the Clone-asaurus.

speaking of Batman spin-offs was "Birds of Prey" ANY good at all? Im slightly curious...

Brett Ratner - Hollywood's little joke to the rest of the world.

Didn't Batman suffer enough with that movie that was released in 1997?

My thoughts exactly. The last thing fans would need to hear is about possible involvement from the Rush Hour 3 director. The closest he should get to any Batman projects is a seat in the movie theater. This genius wanted to do a guitar hero movie.:whatever:

The only man who wants Ratner to make a Batman film is Joel Schumacher.:o

Brett Ratner?! Since when do people listen to that man?

*looks back at X-3*

I like the idea of a Joker spin-off. I wouldn't want it to be a origin story though. Maybe someone could do it like the new graphic novel where its from the point of view of one of jokers thugs?
Or as someone mentioned a really morbid love story with Joker and Harley in the mould of Natural Born Killers could be cool
