The Amazing Spider-Man Should They Use The 90's Spiderman TAS Cartoon As Source Material

I thought the 90's cartoon was edgy and somewhat gritty. Ironically, back before the very first Spiderman movie came out, I thought that was the tone Raimi was going for but it ended up not being the case. Anyway I hope they go with the 90's cartoon for inspiration.

If the 90s cartoon was one thing, it was way too melodramatic.

The 90's series was many things, but not edgy. It was plagued by many ridiculous censorship examples, and the "seriousness" of it was just melodrama with no humor. Besides, "edgy and gritty" are not necessary to make a great show, just maturity, and Spectacular Spider-Man proved that possible.

The 90's series was many things, but not edgy. It was plagued by many ridiculous censorship examples, and the "seriousness" of it was just melodrama with no humor. Besides, "edgy and gritty" are not necessary to make a great show, just maturity, and Spectacular Spider-Man proved that possible.

It wasn't as edgy and gritty as Batman but it was more serious than any thing that had been released about Spiderman. The 90's cartoon had humor but it wasn't over-the-top and cheesy like the humor in Raimi's films and thats mainly why I don't like the Raimi movies.

One thing that I hope is adapted from a cartoon is the diversification of characters from TSSM. No major characters like Norman, Peter, Gwen, MJ, Flash should be changed at all, but minor characters like Debra Whitman, Miles Warren, Liz Allan, etc can be changed to make NYC more diverse from Peter's point of view...heck I still want black Roderick Kingsley since TSSM has been tossed aside for a show based on Ultimate...heck maybe they can get Courtney B. Vance to play him...*runs out crying*

That it was...One of things that annoyed me recently about the 90's series is how Green Goblin would tie himself to Norman Osborn all the time in front of people (even Kingpin). I have to wonder why no one went after Osborn when Gobby told everyone he was doing what he was doing for Norman.

- Where everything is tied to Kingpin. Including stories where he doesn't belong.

- Where the word Insidious is used instead of Sinister.

- Where everyone including street punks and the police shoot lasers.

- Where the actor playing Spider-man overacts with lines such as "MAAAARRRRYYYYY JAAAAAAAAAANE! MAADAAAAAAAAM WEEEEEEEEEEB! SHOOOOOCKEERRRRRRR!"

I'm talking about the tone. The tone was kind of dark and adventurous compared to any other Spiderman cartoon. I don't want to see anymore "chick flick" Spiderman movies like the Raimi movies. I swear, if you took out the Spiderman costume and villians from the Raimi movies, you would think you was watching "Dear John" or something. No more movies where Peter is constantly pining over Mary Jane and not having enough action and adventure, thats what I'm saying.
