Should Thor (the character) be CGI in a live action movie?

Well if the actor they choose for Thor is going to be in the Avengers movie as well as the solo movie then you have to keep the other actors in mind. In the early days Thor was drawn about the same size as other heros but for the last 15-20 years he has dwarfed people like Captian America and Iron Man almost as much as the Hulk dwarfs him. You still don't need a pro wrestler or football player but he should be the biggest cast member, or at least as big as anyone else.

I think it's interesting how some posters feel that Thor MUST have bodybuilder-level biceps. The vast majority of comics characters have been drawn with godly biceps, I'm not sure why Thor deserves some extra special consideration on this front. Similiarly, if you want godly biceps, then you need your actor to become a body-builder... to basically spend a year training, just physically, for the part. Not sure that's effective or necessary. Pretty sure its not going to happen.

Just don't wanna see a scrawny Thor on the screen when the time comes. Here's hoping for bodybuilder-level biceps

Well, they can always get this guy to play Thor:hehe::hehe:

Hell no to CGI Thor. Paul Michael Levesque is perfect for the role. He has the build at 6'4 280 lbs. He is on a nationally syndicated show(s) every week showing his (somewhat rough) acting abilities and entertaining millions. He brings with him a ready made fan base. He's had small roles in film (Hey you gotta start somewhere!) already.

Now if you hadn't known it was Triple H would any one have dismissed him out of hand as only a wrestler? Give the guy a shot. There are such things as acting coaches. And if we dismissed people by what we they did before hand then Christopher Walken would probably still be a dancer, Harrison Ford would still be a carpenter and Steve Buscemi would still be a NYC Fireman. Does anyone actually believe the academy is going to give this movie a best actor nod?

No, just no, no, no, no, a thousand times no, I don't k(no)w how to say it anymore clearly just NO!

HHH looks the part but watch him in Blade 3 and tell me you really want him to have a lead roll in any movie.

I understand what you're saying but it was a small part and if chosen he'd have at least a few months to get some acting lessons in. Is it any worse than some of the *****ebags they've picked for parts in the past?

They're are not going to give the lead role in a multi million dollar film to someone who needs acting lessons and people with no natural talent for acting aren't going to learn much in a couple of months either.

You're probably right but the pickings on this one are real slim.

The reason everyone is saying no to HHH or any other wrestlers is because of their perception of what a grappler's performance will be like.

Wrestler's these days do have to act to some degree, and Thor is the strong silent type anyway.
I think an NFL dude could be the way to go. Obviously such a person would have to have acting coaching, but the fact is THOR is F-kin HUGE- and has the body of a god.

Get that bit wrong and it won't be Thor.

I think it's a lot easier for a good actor to look huge on screen (hitting the gym, camera angles) than a wrestler/football player/bodybuilder being a decent lead actor.

Movie magic, anyone?

Thor the strong silent type? Since when? Strong yes, silent almost never! He's always loud boisterous and a braggart.

I could see HHH working for the action scenes so if they wrote a script where Thor didn't have many lines maybe HHH would be ok but personally I want Thor as a main character!

Braggart yeah I remember that part, last Thor series I read was the JR JR 98 series, heh.

Perfect choice since he's a braggart!:woot:

Yeah, the Thor I know is most definitely none of the above  Maybe he was long ago, but I've certainly never read him written that way.

LeVesque looks the part, but he will never be offered it.
LeVesque needs to be Aquaman.
