The Dark Knight Rises Should WB bring in Frank Miller?

Here’s the point, Nolan is burned out from making TDK. Creatively he can’t even begin to think of a third film. Bring in creative people who love the character so Nolan has some weight off of his shoulders. Chris and John can bring in Frank Miller to help with the development of the script while Nolan focuses on Inception getting a break from Batman.

Sorry but no. Sure Frank has had his share of good batman stories in the comics but No.

Frank Miller sucks man, what about this is it that you don't understand?!?

Why are people so morally opposed to Frank Miller, without him this new franchise wouldn't even exist. People bad mouth the Spirit movie, but if it were a new TPB by Miller it would be praised. I'm not saying Frank Miller should have TOTAL creative control. He needs restrictions. Bring him in as a co-writer so Batman 3 can start early preproduction.

Tell you what, you grab us a time machine, go back and get Frank Miller from the 80's, bring him back here, and then, MAYBE. But you put Frank Miller on a Batman movie as he is now, then all we're gonna get is ****es, ****es, ****es, Crappy Dialog, followed by I am the God Damn Batman.

All of that is unfiltered Miller, he needs limitations just like every artist. I can't think of anyone who understands Batman more than Frank. He helped give birth to the modern character. Nolan won't do Batman 3 without a good story, so why not bring in Miller as a muse of sorts to get this project off the ground and into early preproduction? Batman 3 needs to have a purpose and Miller can bring that to the project.

His grasp of the character during his heyday of the Dark Knight Returns and Batman Year One is debatable. He's got the dark, but Batman is a multifaceted character, and Miller's version is pretty shallow.

bingo.

Debatable? Year One and TDKR are the two most important Batman stories in the entire mythos. Miller along with Denny O'neil basically invented modern Batman. Nolan's Batman is based off of Miller's work, so why not bring him in for the third film?

I liked Year One alot
but I feel that TDKR is very overrated

Frank Miller is a great writer and his contributions to film are already notable. Robocop 2 and 3 are awesome, Year One (script) has goodness in it, and his version of the Spirit would have worked in comic form.

Um the quality of Nolan's Batman series and the 2 RoboCop films are severely different. Year One script was awful and the Spirit did not work for the film(which is why u made this thread) and i doubt it it woulda worked in comic. It just was awful.

alright Frank and Nolan have their own interpretations of Batman. You dont want to "cross the streams". They are both very different from each other. Now if Burton was in charge again it would work out better. But Miller has never been a realistic writer and that is what Nolan is usually going for. So it just wouldnt work.

Frank Miller had written wonderful Batman stories... before. Now, he seems that he is just experimenting with concepts, I like reading All Star Batman, but not for taking it as a serious Batman tale.

I think that we must practice patience. Let's wait until Nolan has finished Inception and then see if he does a Batman III. I doubt he will dissapoint us.

That's not the reason why I made this thread. It's to find a way to get Batman 3 off the ground and get made. The story is vital to everything! Nolan returning, Bale's motivation and more. There is no seminal work to base Batman 3 off of from the comics, so why not create a new one. Miller has been and will continue to be one of the most important writers on Batman. He can bring the needed thematic weight to the next film.

You want to get Batman off the ground?
Sit back and let the events unfold. Dont worry about it

The BATMAN: YEAR ONE script was not awful, it was just unfaithful (and never, ever, would have made it to the screen without changes to make it more faithful). It was actually a fairly compelling piece of writing, and well executed for the most part, given the approach to the character and the tone of it all. But no, WB should not bring in Frank Miller for a sequel.

But unfortunately there isn’t an existing premise from the comics that in my opinion would bring Nolan back. A new story needs to be created and who better to do that than Miller. Nolan needs a break, the movie needs to start preproduction for a 2012 or 2013 release date, and WB needs to get the project moving so it can work on it’s other DC properties. Bring in a new writer.

There's not?

The idea of a city overrun with freaks where the hero is hunted ring any bells?

Because that's basically what Nolan began setting up at the end of THE DARK KNIGHT.

Anybody but Frank Miller. :o

Also, Batman has over 70 years worth of stories they could mine. I mean, somebody could take the Gang War Concept and run with it. Bane. Black Mask ala No Man's Land. The Long Halloween. And let us not forget, Arkham Asylum. Personally, i'd like to see Batman and the Monster men adapted, but hey, i'm not part of the "Realism" crowd, so you know, whatevs
