I just cant see Inglourious basterds doing anywhere near the hype its gotten. I say that one leaves quietly with heads scratching wondering what went wrong.

Potter films are very high grossers, and the 6th will be another huge monster WW for WB. The public is clearly not sick of it, as they keep making huge bank and not really dropping much film to film. They are consistant, meaning the base is still interested. It is foolish to write off Potter IMO.
I think it's quite foolish too. When I saw the midnight showing for :ST: Three trailers I remember that were attached were Terminator, Transformers, and Potter. Of those three Potter's applause nearly went through the roof as soon as that shadowed Warner Bros. logo came up. Terminator had some decent applause when it began and Transformers had some excitement when Shia & Megan came up with the "Bee, I gotta talk to you about the college thing". I agree that Potter will probably rule the summer, I think Transformers will come in second.

You've got to remember that the Friday to Friday drops are usually a lot bigger than the weekend drops because the first Friday includes midnight screenings and possibly previews. The Friday drop for Wolverine is less than for The Hulk and Watchmen, for example and is consistent with a weekend drop of around 67%. So it's unlikely it will break any records for the worst Marvel performer.

Potter might do well...but I still think the series is lame....not that, that has anything to do with anything...i'm just saying.

And it's also PG...which is a WTF for me....always go up, NEVER go down.

67% is still an awful drop.

Of course it's awful but not unprecedented. Hopefully (because I enjoyed the film), the drop will be smaller. It's a lot better than I feared earlier in the week when I though a weekend total of only $20m was possible. (That was based on FF2 and The Hulk)

I was thinking about 25-30 million, so that was pretty accurate I suppose. I think everyone knew this was gonna drop. But like I said before, it isn't really that bad, most films would be lucky to get a figure like that on opening weekend.

But ya, as long as I get my Deadpool movie, I'll be happy as larry :D

As accurate as possible. No compromises in terms of black humour and violence. Sorta in the mould of the first Blade movie. They don't need to make it a massive, big budget blockbuster, keep it relatively modest in terms of budget and there is more chance it will be R. Directed by Robert Rodriguez and produced by Marvel like the reports suggest.

Whether those things happens is a whole different story though!

Sounds good to me. Throw in a wicked extended cameo by Cable and I'm definitely game! The first Blade movie is a nice point of reference. Kinda gritty and low-profile but still cool and crazy.

Obviously the odds are against all the Deadpool fans out there but let's keep our fingers crossed!

And toes! :D

But yea, I don't really think it's necessary for a Deadpool movie to be big budget.

And Cable? Michael Biehn for Cable all the way! Or Kurt Russell. We need some old school action heroes for ol Nate.

thats a big drop. i am not a BO expert but even i know that this is big.

lets see what happens in the next 3 years.it will be interesting.

call me crazy but i think a wolverine movie could be realesed in winter. december.

Which mean more cheaply made X-Men films... WOOOOT!!! Whatever... the sooner we let the crap films become even crappier the sooner the rights shift back to Marvel.
Gah! I don't understand it. Why do people keep talking about rebooting to Marvel as if that automatically means its going to be a better movie??
And I don't really think they were cheaply-made, just not to some people's liking.

That's what I was saying in another thread. It's a winter movie, pushed to a summer season whereby it's not really blockbuster material. I think that's partly why I was disappointed. I thought it would be this huge blockbuster, but turned out being quite low key and cheap.

It doesn't mean a better film. But I'll take my chances with Marvel over Fox.

an x-men movie with Marvel will be better than with Fox, that's for sure.

Look at Ironman, TI Hulk.... Thor in progress...

They are taking care of their films, Fox not.

I should watch Hulk again....

In my first watch I wasn't as interested as now with comic movies....

I'll watch it soon.

Fox will never want to let go of X-Men. It's their only franchise.

It did drag in places, but I thought it was great. It was one of the first comic book movies to try and be more than a action fest, long before the likes of TDK came along.

But ya, it's a matter of taste really.

They still have Fantastic Four and Daredevil.

And where have you been? Ain't seen you in ages.

Yeah, well...X-Men is their only lucrative one. I think they want to reboot Daredevil, The Roth said that some time ago I believe. Haven't heard a thing about FF.

Oh, I've been kinda busy...Life gets in the way of the message board experience :hehe:
