I think Terminator will rack in big bucks for one reason alone opening weekend and his name is Bale. Off of the huge success of TDK, Bale's name is huge right now and he is a huge box office draw. I do think there are more Bale fans than Terminator fans right now and if the movie is good then it will make even more money. But, I do think Terminator will make more money than Wolverine this summer.

Well, if you're saying Terminator will bring in more money than Wolverine because of Christian Bale, then you're putting all your eggs in a basket where Hugh Jackman has twice as many eggs :cwink:

Jackman and Bale are both big draws right now, but Jackman is the bigger draw of the two.

He's coming off the Oscars, its the fourth X-Men movie to the public and to add to that - he is now the title character.

*Bale though the title character in TDK, was a mere shadow once the public got a load of Heath Ledger in December of '07.

If Terminator beats Wolverine, it'll be over quality of story - not due to Bale's image.

I think Bale's gonna have a great year, Public Enemies and Terminator are both looking great

I have to disagree there. Of the two, Bale is the hotter property and draw in terms of box office. Remember, he's coming fresh from the success of Dark Knight. Hugh is coming off of...Australia?

Yeah. :p

Yeah. :p

Well, to be fair, I don't think Australia was ever meant to be a big hit...I mean, it had Nicole Kidman in it. :hehe:

Yea Bale I would never call a BO draw, he's been around forever and even with Batman, TDK was about Heath more than anyone else. Terminator will do well because of the type of movie it is but I wouldn't say because Bale is the big draw of it. He's an amazing actor but yea, no I wouldn't call him a draw. And really other than Will Smith, I don't think there's anyone who's consistently drawing in the crowds regardless of what kind of movie they're in. Its much more about the type of movie now and those aspects than it is the actor in it.

I beg to differ.

Yes, Bale is technically coming off of TDK - but, TDK, a movie that shoulda been Bale's biggest plug, ended up being a Heath Ledger show.

Ledger got ALL the exposure, at least in regards to the general audience.

Bale not so much.

I'm not saying Christian Bale is not a known Hollywood presence, but Hugh Jackman has become a household name.

Jackman's personal projects (Australia, Deception) and his films outside of his Wolverine guise (The Fountain, Scoop, etc) are not suppose to add fuel to his fire or generate any extra buzz.

Wolverine is enough, and has been enough for this guy to be as big as he is now in the Hollywood scene. The general audience likes him in claws and they don't need any more than that.

*The most attention Bale has gotten recently aside from basically admitting to riding shotgun to Heath's Joker while promoting TDK, was his insane outburst during the Salvation shoot.

Jackman has been the talk of the town for a while now, at least since he was promoting X3. That's when the guy went into that part of the radar where everybody can see you.

Peter, you have such faith. It's actually touching.

I remember when so many of us were filled with similar optimism for all things FOX/X-Men/Hugh so many years ago. And now...

:csad:

I actually agree with Peter on this one. I think he's referring to the general audience, not the HC fans, which we all know got bit inthe arse on X3.

Yep.

The hardcore fans would take Christian Bale over Hugh Jackman any day.

*I think they're both great actors.

I think Jackman is great in all his roles, while most people only like him (or remember him) as Wolverine.

On the other hand, I think Bale is better when he's not playing Batman (The Prestige, American Psycho), while most people love him as Batman.

I changed my avatar for a hot second just for you. Lookie....:p

lol...I remember that.

It would have been nice to look forward to an X-Men related film without reservations like we did in the past. I'm still looking forward to Wolverine though, I want to go see it and have a fun time at the theaters. I'd be happy with some decent, it doesn't even have to be amazing. lol.

I may not agree with you on most things(regarding Wolverine at least) but I definitely agree with you on just about all of that.

Hugh Jackman beats Christian Bale, but not by a whole lot. Hugh Jackman has a repuation for not only being the sexiest man in the world, but also classy. Old ladies love that...and there are a lot of old ladies out there 0_0...
And watch it...I loved Australia...even though it didn't make money...
I also love Christian Bale, Prestige, American Psycho, 310 to Yuma, BATMAN, no one can think of anyone else as batman. But surprisingly I hear lots of negative things about his batman from TDK...where is that coming from? Get the stick out of your arse, please :)

And after Terminator, I have a feeling no one can think of anyone else for John Conners.

Agreed, something tells me that Bale may have just found his definitive role in John Connor.

A role where he won't have to speak dialogue nobody understands :hehe:

Christian Bale's highly publicized rant = more buzzworthy and entertaining than Hugh Jackman's Oscar performance. :oldrazz:

Excuse me?

It sounded like the problem with Bale in TDK, was he was acting like a baby, was it? "Oh poor me..." Is that right?
