How did this get turned into a who is a better actor and who is a better person round table discussion?

I don't think anybody would disagree that Hugh is the better all around guy so mentioning it in every post isn't necessary. I think that Bale is in the media more right now and his name is out there more right now than Hugh. Bale's last movie was a huge success and his role in Terminator has created a lot of buzz and for that reason it will draw big numbers.

Honestly, I can't help but think that if one of the gaffers or something ****ed up on set, Jackman would not only not go on a tirade, he would crack a joke about it on set. That's just the kind of guy he is, I could never see him pissed about anything.

Last time I saw him on Broadway, a glass broke during an earlier scene and a stagehand had to quickly run out on stage with a broom to clean it up before the next scene. Hugh was on stage at the time. He stopped the show, introduced the stagehand to the audience (his name was Ian), then took the broom from him and cleaned up the mess himself, telling everyone he'd always wanted to be part of the crew. He explained to the audience that someone was drinking between shows that day and broke the glass (it really just fell over during the last number, I heard it break during the song). :oldrazz:

Christian Bale has been one of my favorite actors for a long time, so I don't even try comparing the two of them because the roles they've played are so vastly different and they're obviously different kinds of performers.

As far as that rant is concerned, between that and his arrest last year, a lot of people on another forum I read can't stand him, and a lot of them did say they lost in interest in Terminator over it. Granted, they were irrational and jumping to conclusions based on tabloid gossip, but it was a lot of people.

I don't think it will affect the box office at all, but I think it definitely created some negative publicity in the non-fanboy circles too.

Well I think the leak hurt this film more than Bale's rant hurt his film.

That is so awesome. How can some one be that nice?

Not significantly though I don't think.

The broken glass wasn't part of the show, obviously...but the ad-libbing was something he was pretty famous for. When it happened, he was in the middle of asking some audience members who were just taking their seats why they were late. As soon as the guy ran out with the broom we knew he wasn't going to let that guy quietly off the stage. :oldrazz:

Stage actors have been known for meltdowns - Patti Lupone famously went crazy on some jerk taking pictures during a performance of Gypsy a few months ago, stopped the show, and yelled at the guy while security escorted him out of the building.

I know one time someone took a picture during Hugh's show - he had someone backstage get her a program and told her the pictures of him were much better in there.

Not significantly though I don't think.

I hope not.

In the sense of Jackman, even his commentary on the leaked Wolverine thing doesn't come off as pure anger, more like, "come on guys, don't do that."

Yea, he seems more disappointed and sad rather than angry. But he'll be getting money from me on April 29th

He wished you happy birthday! You lucky girl! :hehe: How did that happen?

And oh yea, do you know when they will be doing interviews for the HYPE?

My folks managed that one - I'd been to the show a few months earlier with my best friend, but my friend and I kind of chickened out of waiting at the stage door. So right before my b'day my folks saw the show, and they waited at the stage door (I had no idea they were even in NY that day).

From what I've been told, he asked my mom what my name was, asked if they were having a party (we were, although I didn't know about that either), and he wrote my name and a happy b'day along with his autograph.

And the next week I found myself at a surprise party and my parents sprang that one on me. I still can't believe they did that. My best friend actually screamed. :oldrazz:

So yeah...you won't find me stealing Wolverine online anytime soon. :cwink:

And oh yea, do you know when they will be doing interviews for the HYPE?

No idea. I didn't even know they were doing interviews until the thread was posted. I'm guessing in the next week or so.

Very cool Danoyse!

Yea the interviews must be coming up soon, I hope at least one of my questions gets used :D

This thread is way off topic! lol.

I think that it doesn't matter who's bigger or better.

I believe that Terminator will do better than StarTrek and Wolverine. Personally I see Transformers 2 winning the year easily. Overseas Harry Potter will easily win but domestically it has no chance.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong but I still think that Wolverine is a one weekend movie, granted it's going to be a huge, probably 100mil, weekend but thats still only one weekend. Star Trek's early reviews are strong and Fox hasn't exactly put Wolverine out for reviews...despite the fact that it comes out a week earlier. More and more Star Trek is looking like a legs flick while Wolverine is looking like, well...another wham bam Fox movie.

Part of me say that this film will have an amazing opening weekend, and then disappear due to bad word-of-mouth. Part of me (albeit a very, VERY tiny one) thinks they'll clean up the film, get good reviews, and exceed X3's totals. The last part of me thinks that this film will get horrible reviews but due to strong marketing and a strong turnout of brain-dead, fantastic four watching Americans, it will do 200+

I think Terminator will outgross everything, including Transformers 2.

I think this will have a great opening weekend, then drop off. But not to the levels of X-3 though.

One thing that does worry me is this. Could audiences around the world be getting sick and tired of comic book movies now?

Wolverine has been out for review. I suspect the lack of reviews is due to an expectation that Fox will not turn a blind eye to people who break the embargo on reviews.

You're on your own with this :csad:

Sick of Comic Book movies? IRON MAN, DARK KNIGHT...we are living in a comic book movie age. It's possible, but with the coming avengers...I don't think it will slow down, infact it seems to just be getting started. If studio's make better quality films, like iron man, dark knight, and then they will make more money. Are they sick of poorly made comic book movies? absolutely. If fantastic four was released 10 years earlier, it might have made LOTS of money. The bar is raised, the expectations are high, so it all depends on if people can meet those expections, sometimes it's impossible, but it also pushed people to make better movies. Except for Fox, who knows what they are doin.

If only the whole thing had a positive effect on Bale's career...

Haha. I know. Honestly, I think things like Chritian Bale's rant and the Wolverine leak only provide these films with more free publicity and little negative effect. At least, I hope so. We'll see within the next couple weeks, which I can't believe are already upon us.

I really don't understand how the rant could hurt the film. Bale's a prick, old story. I still like his work. Not as much as I used to, but that has nothing to do with his personal life, but the fact that he's been pulling the same act in so many movies recently, that I've started to think can this guy do anything differently anymore.

I don't like Jackman either as a person. Guy's too ****ing positive and thinks everyone likes him. + he likes to think that he "gets" Wolverine. Didn't stop me from enjoying The Fountain and The Prestige.

Crowe's an *******, but he's still one the best actors around now, and I'm always looking forward to seeing his new films.

Jamie Foxx is another. He belongs to the white trash of black people. Still, to my surprise, I really liked The Kingdom. Jarhead, too (that wasn't a surprise tho, I really like Mendes).

In the end, I don't need to be their friend irl.

I'm not gonna predict how much money XMOW is gonna make, because I'm really bad at these things. You knever know how these things are gonna turn out. Hopefully it won't make enough to warrant more Fox's X-films.

You don't like Jackman because he is too positive? Wha...?

I know some people can be annoyingly happy all the time, but the guy is just great. He hasn't got a big ego, he respects fans, basically, he knows he lives a privileged life and doesn't ***** and moan about it like those other hollywood types.

I honestly don't know how anyone can not like the bloke.

To me, he just comes off as a guy who loves himself too much. I might be wrong, but I don't like his attitude.

He's actually pretty humble, and according to everybody that works with him he's a joy to have around.

The guy commands $20 Million a picture but acts very down to earth

Because of the leak, the economy and the summer competition, I don't see this movie doing the box office office that it should. Maybe that's a good thing. Maybe Fox will let the rights go back to Marvel, or maybe they'll pull their heads out and start making some better movies.
