WO is NOT a bomb! Anybody who implies such is either a fool, kidding themselves, or just trying to antagonize those who enjoyed it. With that said, it is and will be perceived as somewhat of a disappoitment, in all respects. I equate it a lot to Superman Returns, with the exception that SR got a much warmer reception from critics. But based on box office returns and the popular consensus of the movie-going public that formed as a result, these two films are remarkably similar. Now how they each got there was by different roads traveled to be sure, but the end results will be the same. This is why people should be more cautious in their expectations for sequels and spin-offs, you could be setting yourselves up for a BIG letdown. Remember, all the talk of those follow-ups was immediately right after WO's impressive opening weekend. It's been pretty quiet on that front since it's equally significant second weekend drop, if I'm not mistaken. I'm not saying they won't get made, I just believe the game has changed, and I wouldn't be placin' all my chips on sequels/spin-offs being a sure thing anymore. Besides, don't forget that it is clear now WO will be a weaker performer than all three previous films, which is a HUGE reversal in trend for the franchise. As I pointed out earlier in this thread, it will come in behind the last two X-movies by around a whopping $150M WW, when each is adjusted for ticket price inflation. I'm just sayin'... proceed with caution.
