Last I read about the Sentry was in Avengers when he freaked out and then the Void (?) showed up at his wife's to protect her (presumably). I suppose I foolishly assumed there would be some sort of explanation as to what the heck happened. Perhaps actually expecting a storyline to make sense or be concluded is too much these days.

So, am I missing something, or am I right that Marvel and Bendis just left that massively cool storyline dangling for months now with no sign of getting back to it (plus Sentry appears to be back to normal now in the upcoming Punisher #1 cover with no explanation)?

Well he's going to have things to do in Dark reign. The Sentry comic may tie in to current events since it strongly hints that The sentry isnt in the reality he is in the comic. Though thats most likely unrelated.

I figured the Void had taken over the Sentry's body, and that's why he's cooperating with all of the villains in Dark Reign.

I figured Sentry was just being a "government tool"...ala Superman in The Dark Knight Returns...

I mean, Norman IS a legally appointed official at this point, isnt he?

Didn't the Void manifest a Sentry-like body the last time we saw either of them, though?

So does that mean Thor will get to hit the Sentry in his face during the main event?

I sure hope so, but I suspect Thor would just wind up getting his ass kicked, unfortunately.

That's the way I saw it. The Sentry is just really dumb and Marvel just needs to get rid of him.

Is there anyone who likes him?

I loved the original Sentry mini...

i like sentry...he's only crap cos writers make him that way...he has loads of potential to be great..but he is simply wasted.

A lot of people did, but the current Sentry bears little resemblance to that. Besides, that mini works much better as a one-off, out-of-continuity story anyway.

Come on now, robert reynolds was just a drug addict drinking chemicals he found lying around. Is it that much of a streach to say norman manipulated him? He's always been a moron. I do hope thor gets to cave sentry's face in though, that would be awesome.

It's perfectly reasonable for Norman to manipulate the 'good' Sentry, but we did see the Void somehow take over as the Sentry, didn't we? I would think that's actually leading somewhere rather than being a one-off random thing that just sort of happened.

Goodness I hope so

Personally, I'd love it if the Void took over. He's a hell of a lot more interesting than the Sentry, and he might actually stick around for a whole battle at some point.

I loved the idea that the void was the real robert reynolds and the sentry was just created to keep him in check. If that's the case I will become a fan.

I don't think I'll ever be a fan of the Sentry, but I do find myself liking the Void.

If it turns out the sentry is just an artifical construct which only saves people to counteract the void's kills and can do no more, then his whining do nothing ass actually makes a lot of sense.

But he's still a whiny, do-nothing ass, so what does it really matter?

at least then he has an actual reason, he can't save anyone till the void kills, he just goes all emo. Rather than he just cannot step away from his collection of gilmore girls dvds.

Also it would make the sentry not even a real person, and that's a step in the right direction, IMO.

I never really understood the Sentry and his origin and all that "everyone forgot who he was" crap. He's crazy, he's a whimp, he's got the power of a million exploding suns... but not really or something. The stuff that gave him his power would only work on him... but also not really. I just don't get him, or his lame costume. He seems like a character that wasn't properly thought through when first created. Marvel should kill em off and make him a martyr in some way, seems like the only way to make him interesting.

That said I don't really care what's going on with him now. But I was curious as to what happened to him during SI, in one of the first issues I remeber a skrull turning into the Void and scaring him off. So did he just sit that whole battle out after that? If so, then he really does suck.

He was thought through well enough when he was created to work within the mini-series he was originally in. It wasn't until Bendis brought him back and subsequently made him a wussy tosser who runs from 99% of his fights that the problems began. He sort of went way overboard with the crazy angle, to the point that the Sentry is so crazy that he's basically useless, and that just makes the character dull in the context of ongoing superhero comics.

Hmmm, I've only read him within Benids books which may be why I don't really understand or like him. He just confuses me mostly, maybe I'll pick up his mini-series which I believe is available in my school library, so it's free, no reason not to check it out I guess.

But my question, did he sit most of SI out?

Go for it. You're looking for his original Marvel Knights mini-series by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee, by the way. There's another mini by Paul Jenkins and John Romita, Jr., but that one wasn't too great.

Pretty sure the one my library has is the Jae Lee series. I flipped through it once and didn't reckognize the art so it wasn't JRjr. I remeber a part with The Sentry talking to Spider-Man and Spider-Man thinks he's involved with Mysterio or something.
