Honestly, I think I would have a hard time buying Goku as a lovable loser if he started the movie being built like a tank.

Since when has goku ever been a lovable loser? He's always been a pure hearted ass kicking winner in life and every other pursuit. Highschool melodrama doesn't suit the character at all.

Unless 3 of the 7 Dragonballs are in the basement of Goku's high school, don't expect more than 15 minutes of the movie to be "high school melodrama." This is a movie about training and searching for the Dragon Balls from everything we've heard so far, so I don't know why people are so worried that high school will be the backdrop of the movie, when it clearly won't be.

Anway, Goku has to start off somewhat low if the audience is going to get attached to him. If he starts off as a built kicker of butts who has no self doubt or personal problems whatsoever, the audience won't have enough reason to want to see him get stronger and succeed.

I agree. Everyone over the age of 12 knows what it feels like to be knocked on your tail and have to get back up again, literally or proverbially. That which doesn't kill us, only makes us stronger; one of the most prevalent plot elements in the entire Dragon Ball/Z series.

I know, Transformers only had like five minutes of it, so people should say it'll be based on a high-school kid wanting to be with a girl...it'll be about an alien wanting to destroy Earth, lol.

Judging from set pics, NO. Although his clothing colors are reminiscent to those of his classic gi. I will be disappointed if he's not wearing an orange gi at some point in the movie though.

Something else I wonder, will they cover the 22nd Tenka'ichi Budokai, also? That's right when Piccolo Daimao made his first appearance, and features a great deal of character development between the supporting characters.

I don't think anyone at SSH takes this film all that seriouslyand based on its source material, I wouldn't.
