Homecoming Sony E-mails on wikileaks

Re: new ending from alex

I think the Peter, Aunt May and Gwen beats feel really good.

There's something off for me about seeing the Gentleman walking through Special Projects for no reason other than to show the Rhino suit. Wish we could give this more purpose. I also think the pages read as though between this walk and his walk down the corridor at Ravenscroft to see Harry that five months have passed and I don't know why we need this scene between him and Harry. It sets up an expectation that Harry is going to break out at the end of the film but then it's Rhino we see Spidey fighting. I understand having a beat like that as a post credit piece to tease the next movie/Sinister Six but it feels odd and off-point in the midst of the Peter getting over Gwen story...

I think it could use a little tweaking of the dialogue between May and Peter, and some of Gwen dialogue in speech. But other than that I like it.

Any way to post pdf I think I found something about incremental profits for Civil War and Avengers 3/4

I am in the minority of loving ASM/ASM2 and was at first bitter about the reboot, but after reading these emails, I'm so glad these plans never saw the light of day. They're such a hot mess.

Besides not understanding what this means...
did you mean Infinity Wars I and Infinity Wars II (instead of Age of Ultron)

I'm just copying what Ike Perlmutter from Marvel emailed him...

it looks to be a choice for Sony to decide if they want Marvel to cofiance either 30 or 50% of the Spider-Man movies while Sony fiance 5% of the Marvel movies

Ah, my bad. I got confused since it wasn't in a quote box. :whatever: I thought you made those calculations. XD
Wonder if they actually though AoU would come after CW...

I just find this extremely interesting since this is volume 5 of the pdf so they must've had other figures and this e-mail is from November 20th

Hmmm... maybe v5 came after 5 years of trying to make deals with Marvel. :woot:
At least 5 years that Sony was trying to do math to figure out how to make a deal. :funny:
Or it could be just a 5th back and forth email where numbers were changed around some and it was all within a week.
We would have to find the others to know for sure.

Even though only Spider-Man '17 has been officially been announced... I'm guessing Marvel wants to make two sequels

Sounds like Sony want to see how Spidey 2017 and Cap 3 does first. If successful they will let him be in Infinity War and Marvel can do the sequels. Think Marvel would be happy to do as many sequels as they can, but they'll probably also wait to see how it goes.

Looks like the rumours of Iron Man being in the Spidey film are correct and he was the character they swapped. Going to be interesting going forward. This is basically Marvels Spiderman. Sony are just paying for it and have the right to veto a decision (probably only use it if they think it would hurt the brand, which is not in Marvels interest).

Thanks for posting all the e-mails. Took me ages to get through them, but very interesting.

Seems like they thought the deal was off at one point.

I think that's good
I'm pretty sure the Russos will told to move on
(No spidey)
Let's get a brain trust together
I've been thinking about it a lot and talking to folks
So has everyone
I met with Sam
I love him
That isn't the answer
But it was interesting

I think its the sequels that are up in the air, but it seems like infinity wars are pretty much locked from Feiges recent statements

I would agree.. Only 3 people associated with the MCU have gone on record publicly about Spider-Man.

Feige - Teen with a home made costume already swinging through ny

Downey - Quoted saying he wants Parker on Avengers and believes Stark industries will be involved

Evans - Wants to mentor Spider-Man

Hemsworth* - didn't even know Spider-Man to marvel was a actual thing

Also judging by Ike's estimates Marvel expects to make 4b total for Avengers: IW

Sorry missed that. What did he say?

He said something along the lines of the plans for spidey being locked in for the next four years, basically all of phase 3. So anything beyond that (the sequels) is up in the air

I am really really really hoping the Marvel character to appear in Spider-Man is Daredevil. But I would say from a recognition point of view Sony would want IM.

Daredevil is hot right now though, and everybody is singing its praises for it. Definitely seems like something both sony and marvel would want to jump on, especially since its proving to be a popular team-up

From purely a MOVIE standpoint (**** profit) I absolutely think Spider-Man and DD would make a better movie than S-M and IM. Spidey and DD are both street level superheroes. They have a deep relationship in the comics and are far more relatable to each. I think the would be far easier to write where as IM would feel shoehorned in.

Also for season 2 of Daredevil, imagine the rating spike if Spider-Man shows up for an episode.
