Re:

Brilliant.
He and andrew were paired for some tv in singapore and it worked incredibly well.
Webb is very on point and confident.
Dane's not here with us.

Earth Hour was a real win for spidey -- so much so that apparently the crowd of many thousands who were there all left the minute we did...

AW:

Not that great. Depending how today ends up w/e b.o. should be around € 2.6/2.7 m. Although warm, sunny weather had an impact the movie did not that big number that Disney hoped for. As I expexted and told you on the call.

We will be in a much better position with Spidey. I will get a full report regarding our trailer on Monday . However for what it's worth I saw our new trailer on Friday with CA and the audience and it looked fantastic and got great reponse. Internet reaction are also good but I will gather more information tomorrow.

Best,

Who the hell is Jon Silk?

This is recent from back in November, and I don't like how Jeff Robinov keeps trying to suggest his friends to work in the Spider-Man related projects. And by the way, look how promising this Jon Silk dude is:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1698314/

Production-executive in Terminator Salvation (:barf:) and co-producer in Gangster Squad (:barf:), what is this, is Robinov trying to hook up every Warner Bros studio reject with Sony now? This is ridiculous.

Here's hoping Marvel will make these dudes to STAY AWAY from Spider-Man. For the love of God Sony, just don't DO anything, let Marvel handle this.

Adam said he could do a work sheet that calculates the number of seats per theater x the ticket price if you want. And he can do it for honduras also ;)

A lot of emails have Cap or cap2 or cap3 or Captain America or "civil wars" in the headline if anyone wants to look for inFo

Yes what I'm doing is focusing on people's emails, like Jeff Robinov and Amy Pascal. There's a lot of things been talk in November that could spill in the movie, and I hope in my heart of hearts that Marvel won't allow these people anywhere NEAR Spider-Man. Just sign the checks and collect the money, Sony. Let Marvel handle this.

Well this is an interesting thread. But as for deal. I don't see why sony didn't sell the rights. They where out of ideas and directions. And we know sony is in deep money woes. Would have been smart to sell for a good check. And work on getting some back end money if film under marvel hits a certain mark.

but now with deal it would be wiser let marvel do all the creative stuff and direction and look of movie. And get that marvel touch. And sony just forks over the production costs and OKs crew and thst. So in the end it's a marvel movie but sony gets name on it and gets the money from bo. As we know marvel would make more on merch sales.

been really fun so far. all the service stuff especially. wanna keep that going. the spiderman mission of spreading the love. jamie and em are so great to do this with. so funny and lively. we balance each other well and get each other going i think. been really fun. really great having some time to rest and recooperate in each city. it makes our ability to show up for each interview with all our energy and passion and livliness much easier.

when it starts to be a grind is when we get diminishing results. when there is no time to reset between cities is when i feel the strength and usefulness of the press goes south. not as effective. it all becomes more general and generic and you arent able to fully bring yourself to the interview or photo or premiere or simply the moment.

the moments with kids have been the greatest part about it. so pure and perfect. exactly what this is all about. the excitemement the kids experience is contagious. we need young spidey fans in each premiere and each press conference. it changes the energy.

really fun so far. xx

Got world tonight that the academy sent out their press release only to place who had printed the other story as they believe that sending it out wide would just add fuel to the fire

I'm sure if it continues to spread they will. Continue to issue their response

If that makes it go away that will be fine

I am really glad to know ag did go to Disneyland Monday because I can't pretend my motives were completely altruistic although that was a happy component to the spidey publicity I did end up feeling really bad about that little boys disappointment

I know Andrew is none if the things thoes atories implied and I know his heart is always in the right place it's just that we need to help him sometimes get in over active brain in the right place

I am looking forward to getting beyond this and I promise you that most of the folks at the company are disgusted by the academy's behavior so lets just keep it there

And get back to the business of In front of us

Also I know he has a big press day Monday so lets get things back to a place where we are moving forward

Re:

Despite the botched communication regarding the international launch of the photo - Dane as goblin was not a secret. And his look appeared in the tryptic banner and the Superbowl materials. This is the first print look at him that was not produced by a marketing vendor.

Indeed mixed comments are living on cinephile sites. As I think about the impact of that image holistically, it created a spike in conversation about the movie and for me, for the first time, shows Spidey in real jeopardy. Actually mixing it up in a fight with one of our previously announced villains.

I'll have team send you some buzz.

Below is the buzz around the Captain America Super Bowl spot preview that released on GMA this morning. Thus far, it has received 3,740 mentions to date (compared to Spider-Man’s 6,020 mentions as of this morning), with buzz skewing 89% favorable, 5% unfavorable and 6% neutral (compared to Spider-Man’s 92% favorable, 4% unfavorable and 4% neutral).

Discussions have picked up across general entertainment, cinephile, comic book, social media, and video sharing sites. Main topics include general anticipation for the movie, praise for the cast, and discussions around the appearance of Falcon. Secondary topics include praise for the Falcon's wings, and comments around how good the first movie was. Tertiary (low in volume) topics include comments on the short length of the piece.

Example consumer comments below.

POSITIVE

- Thought the first one was really well done, especially the first half. This one looks to be even better. (EW)

- That may be tough being that the first one was excellent. Dare I say, in the top 10 best superhero films of all time. But of course, we hope for the best. I'm with ya. (EW)

- Looking forward to this one. (AINT IT COOL)

- Will definitely be the best film out of Phase Two. Movie looks fantastic in every way and the cast looks perfect in every way in all of their roles. Couldn't be more excited. I mean the first scene of this teaser alone with Bucky holding the gun and walking into the street gave me goosebumps. (JOBLO)

- This looks good, so far. Looking in hindsight, I think we're all glad that Chris Evans landed the role because he nails it. But, seriously why haven't we heard anything from Sebastian Stan? Mackie talked about Cap 2. So has Evans and ScarJo but nothing from The Winter Soldier himself? Not that it'll damage in any way, I'd like to know his thought process into becoming Cap's foe (JOBLO)

- Falcon !!! (SUPERHEROHYPE)

- Digging the close shot of Falcon's flight "wings." I was wondering how they'd work on screen. I was concerned it would look too bulky and awkward. In fact it looks pretty damn cool. (SUPERHEROHYPE)

- I went from teased to PUMPED!! (SUPERHEROHYPE)

- look forward to this no matter what (SUPERHEROHYPE)

- My word, the body on ScarJo in that poster. (SUPERHEROHYPE)

- Awww yeah!!!! That was pretty neat (COMICBOOK.COM)

- That standoff. Niiiiiiiiiice (**************)

- Captain America is my favorite superhero, and this looks EXACTLY like a Captain America movie should look like. Cap working with his classic partners Falcon & Black Widow and doing battle with the Winter Soldier, Crossbones, and Batroc should make any Cap fan STOKED! (**************)

- Yup I'm pumped.That's right! Pumped. (**************)

- This is going to be the greatest film of all time. (**************)

- That looks awsome!!!! (**************)

- The wings looked great and cap and Bucky are about to duke it out at the end (**************)

- Awesome (COMICVINE)

- I'm so ready for this movie. (COMICVINE)

- Was that the Falcon? cool, I did not know he was in he movie (COMICVINE)

- Captain America in a political thriller? this has bags of potential, ballsy move marvel (COMING SOON)

- My level of hype can not possibly get any higher... It's gone beyond excited to this strange level of calmness. It's like I've reached nerd-nirvana…. (COMING SOON)

- ohhhhh crapppp! I hated the first movie, and im not a disneymarvel guy, but im a huge HUGE fan of the brubaker CapAm run, and this looks tremendous, with that plus Guardians of the galaxy, looks like I'm about to turn into a disneymarvel guy! (COMING SOON)

- THE ANTICIPATION. IT HURTS. (COMING SOON)

- I’ll be first in line for this one, no doubt. (SCREENRANT)

- Looks good. I’ve been looking forward to this since the last one. (SCREENRANT)

- Scarlet looks amazing in that poster (SCREENRANT)

- anyway…..as far as the teaser goes….the title of the article is a little misleading. I thought you guys actually had the superbowl trailer. Nevertheless, the teaser, is just enough to whet our appetites. looking forward to this one. (SCREENRANT)

- I still think this has a chance of being interesting just because Captain America will fight a kind of terrorist and not a supervillain, for what I can take from the trailer at least. Like I said about Thor 2 and 3, I'm losing interest, they better bring something different to the table soon. I hope this can change my mind a little. (ROPE OF SILICON)

- I need The Winter Solider. This film looks like it'll do the books justice. BUCKYCAP ftw!!! (FACEBOOK)

- I can't wait to see this movie in April. (FACEBOOK)

- falcon in this movie ? big news … (FACEBOOK)

- This movie's going to epic I can't wait (FACEBOOK)

- damn ! looks good (FACEBOOK)

- I'm ready (FACEBOOK)

- That my friends is the only reason I like super bowls (YOUTUBE)

- Those wings! (YOUTUBE)

- The stand-off scene between Cap and Winter Soldier......EPIC!!!! WOW!!!! April cant get here any sooner! I HAVE to see this film (especially in 3D). (YOUTUBE)

- This movie will be amazing much better than the mediocre first avenger. Even falcon looks badass and tons of character devolpment for fury and black widow who desperately need it can't ****ing wait for this movie it's going to be so good (YOUTUBE)

- EPIC (YOUTUBE)

- This might be the best movie marvel made, hopefully it will pull through. (IGN)

- First marvel movie to look serious and fun since iron man 1! finally and thank you! (IGN)

- Falcon looked badass! (IGN)

- Yeah he did! I'm pumped (and a little surprised) that he looks so cool. (IGN)

- Cap going head-to-head with the SHIELD fighter jet on his motorcycle looks to be an epic scene. Tony Stark is going to see news footage of that and go, "Daammmn. So *that's* why they put him in charge. Jarvis, erase the footage we just saw from the internet. Nobody's allowed to think that mommy's boy is cooler than me." "Yes, sir." (IGN)

- this movie will kick so much asses. I hope it is as good as Iron Man 1 was. MARVEL FTW!! (IGN)

- Honestly, I'm more excited for this than the game. (IGN)

- Falcon wings looked pretty sweet in that clip (IGN)

- Evans is way better as Captain America than Johnny Storm. This and Spider-Man might be the best comic book movies of the year. (IGN)

NEUTRAL/MIXED

- It was cool, but wasn't better than spidey though. But i do think both movies will break a billion!!! (COMIC BOOK MOVIE)

- hope the CGI translates better to film that looked very GI Joe-ish. (COMICBOOK.COM)

- I really hope that connection between Black Widow and Bucky is made in this film (COMICVINE)

- Hope the sequel is going to be 100x better than the first back in 2011. (EW)

- Falcon's wing thing looks lame. Why only one guy, shouldn't they be mass producing these things? (AINT IT COOL)

- Shouldn't they give the already-superhuman Cap America the hightech flying suit to make him even more lethal? (AINT IT COOL)

- Meh this movie look totally out of place for some reason. Some scenes just doesn't like mess together and look too TVish. Take a look at Captain America : The First Avenger trailer and how well and cinematic it look. (AINT IT COOL)

- I don't understand this whole "teasers for trailers" thing. A teaser is a short trailer for a movie. (SUPERHEROHYPE)

- I am really hoping that Redford ends up being the red skull. I was in target yesterday and the toys out for Cap 2 does include a redskull. not saying that means anything at all, but It did make me a little curious. (SCREENRANT)

- She looks really out of place and awkward with that pose. (SLASH FILM)

- For a film called The Winter Soldier, they aren't showing the Winter Soldier that much. (SLASH FILM)

- Meh. Not nearly as good as Spidey. (YOUTUBE)

- The music at the begining sound like the first intro of PS1. (YOUTUBE)

- Hopefully the Falcon has a bigger role than Black Widow. (YOUTUBE)

- I don't know why so many people are worked up to see Falcon. He was shown quite well in the previous trailer. (IGN)

- Please don't fall under the same silliness Thor 2 and Iron man 3 did! (IGN)

- That's my biggest worry for the film. The humour in the Avengers worked wonderfully, but it seems as if Marvel's producers realized that and now they're relying on comedy a little bit too much. They need to lay off the jokes a little bit and focus on the drama. (IGN)

- I've was disappointed in Iron Man 3 and underwhelmed with Thor TDW. It's all riding on this for me, and it looks awesome so far. Hope it delivers. (IGN)

NEGATIVE

- That Captain America costumes looks like crap!!! (SUPERHEROHYPE)

- Ah. Fake-contrived Nick Fury is back in this one. (AINT IT COOL)

- 16 second teaser for a 30 second teaser... Wow. **** you movies (NEOGAF)

- God that was really painful to watch. (SLASHFILM)

I had to log in to this ancient account just to say thanks for combing through these emails and finding such interesting stuff.

For me, the coolest stuff I'm seeing is all the financials. "Pay Drew this; Pay Marc this" and Drews requests, as well.

I've found some very poignant piece of evidence how good Jeff Sneider is at this game.

Take a look at this:

As I did with brooks barnes, I denied we are in any negotiations with Marvel about licensing Spider-Man back to them. He is NOT writing anything right now.

Hi Jean and Charlie, just wanted you to be aware of this email I sent to Elzer in April 2013, which he subsequently denied. I'm still hearing these now well-publicized rumors that Sony will let Marvel borrow Spider-Man... but for Captain America: Civil War rather than Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Kevin Feige addressed the speculation today at the Marvel event and said it was just a rumor.
I'm told Sony definitely plans to license out the Spider-Man character for Marvel's use in exchange for use of a similar major character, or at the very least, trailer placement for Sony movies in front of Marvel movies...
Does Sony have any comment about the possibility that Spider-Man could appear in a future Marvel movie, or does the studio have no plans to license out the character?

Hey Steve, so I spoke to a well-placed Marvel source this morning and I'm told that Sony has signed a deal to license use of the Spider-Man character to Disney/Marvel for use in "The Avengers 2." Furthermore, I have a source who previously witnessed Andrew Garfield leaving Marvel with a stack of "Avengers" comic books under his arm.
I'm told that Fox has also agreed to license characters from its X-Men universe, as well as the Silver Surfer from Fantastic Four, for use in The Avengers 2, so this would be part of a larger story.
Please let me know if you can confirm. Appreciate any guidance you can offer on this one.
Best,Jeff

He knew something was up since back October, 28th 2014. :wow:

I'm more surprised that talks where in place before ASM2 was even released.

fyi - left word for Luchterhand. Since I'm not sure when I'm going to hear back from him MM is going to call Jason as well.

Kadin and I just discussed our proposal for Pratt. Michael Marshall is about to send you an email outlining what we want to offer for the movie and sequels.

Also… Julie just told Alex the same thing that Jason told Kadin - she likes the script and if we make a real money offer he's very likely to do it…
