Is Raimi and Maguire coming back? I haven't been on these boards in awhile.

Ah...I see. That's good to hear. I don't really care if Dunst comes back, but I'm sure she will if Raimi and Maguire are on board.

Yea I think she will, hopefully she will have a smaller role though, she really does my head in.

I think Raimi and Maguire have signed on for 2 more films.

I seriously can't imagine what will happen to this franchise! After how they managed to screw up with Sm3 it's hard to believe they can pull off a great story with SM4. I only hope SM4 will be better than 3, because I doubt it will top SM2 and even SM1.

I still don't know why did they had to screw up the story even more by bringing Gwen Stacy in SM3.:facepalm

I have a little bit of confidence, because after the reaction to SM-3 they know where they ****ed up and they should know where to improve.

^ Well I don't because the same people are still in place and their style of film & storytelling will not change...

Yea I know what you mean, but surely they can't just make the same mistakes again. I think the problem with SM-3 was that after SM-2 they thought they could do no wrong, they got arrogant and that leads to sloppiness. Hopefully after seeing how crap SM-3 did with fans they'll learn by their mistakes.

As long as the Raimi Bros don't wirte the script and instead stick to directing ONLY, everything will be fine.

Well I certainly don't think that was the reason. IMHO, the main reason was to many heads and not enough parts of the body. Avi, Laura, Sam gets some of the blame because of his lack of stance, I say Amy Pascal as well... to many hands in the cookie jar.

Neitherless, Sam style of film making won't change, there lies the problem. Look at his litany of films, and stop ignoring that fact that's his style.

Oi don't get all lemon with me, to be honest I couldn't give a toss. You say Sam has got his style and yea I would agree. But after the critical failure of part 3 do you really think all those guys are so arrogant they'll just sit there and not try and improve on the failures? They just be like "Ohh well, the last one was crap but who cares? Let's just make another crap one!"

Look, don't wear your panties so tight, I was making an observation, chill.

If you listen to what Avi and Laura have said, the only problem they think they have made was rushing Venom and to many villains. That says nothing about character usage, story flow, maturity of the story, realism, characters motivation.

Sam is the same, he had no problem with the film other than Venom and Gwen, which he would have inserted Vulture... come on man.

lolz ok pal. no worries. Maybe you are right, you probs know more about it than me. I just hope they learn by their mistakes. If not? Then well they will be ridiculed forever!! HAHAHA

People seem to forget he made SM1 and SM2. If he made one bad egg of the bunch doesn't mean he'll make another crappy film.

Probably because they thought bringing her in would both please and attract the comic-book fans. Which didn't work. That faceplant was necessary, I mean Jeez, what were they playing at, ruining such an important character?

Let us hope so. If they screw this one up, they may aswell kiss goodbye the the modern Spidey movie franchise. Let alone that Venny spin-off : / .

The inclusion of Gwen Stacy (or whoever that really was, it was NOT Gwen Stacy IMO) at this point in the movie franchise was nothing more that a nod to the comic book fans.

Unfortunately, with the so-called "Gwen Stacy" we got, it was a patronizing and insulting nod.

I guess one could say she fits (unfortunately) in this bizarre world of the movies. Fitting right in with the GweMJ autrosity we have.

A pity that their attempt to appease the fans came at such a cost to a beloved character, and the characters many different storylines.

We DID NOT get to see Capt Stacy's relationship with Peter (dating his daghter) like we did in the comics. We DID NOT get the great storyline where Caqpt Stacy dies during one of Spidey's battles, and we DID NOT get to see the love of his life (Gwen) HATE his alternate ego (Spidey). Pure Greatness... Missed.

We obviously DID NOT get Gwen's greatest story line, and we cannot, since the GweMJ is "the girl" in this warped timeline. And it appears in this unGodly timeline we have no more Goblin Bloodline to work with.

Pity. And pure stupidity.

I truely fear for this franchise (as it is). Even with the greatness that could be the Lizard's storyline pending. I fear this will will just be another in the long lines of "DID NOT's" to haunt this franchise.

Pity. Pity and Stupidity. Sad when the two meet.

Don't pity it too much, they've made a fortune off it. How, because most movie-goers don't give a crap about the details that fanboys do. If only MARVEL cared about their characters, especially their flagship character...but they do not. Just give them a check, and you're free to do what you like with the characters. Good Ol' Marvel.

Time has nothing to do with it. SM3 was three years in the making, longer than SM2's two years.

Hey, thanks for the re-cap, professor.

What makes this franchise so bad? Sam made some changes because it's his film and he still satisfied alot of us, including me. No comic film will have 110% of the material from books put into the film. As I have said, this is still my #1 favorite superhero franchise and I'm sticking by it.

Sam Raimi and company have the ability to make a good Spider-Man movie. They showed that when they made Spider-Man 2. The franchise has been decent in my book. Not spectacular and not horrible, but decent.
