Sequels Sony is thinking May 2011 for Spidey 4

Never going to see anything like that. I reckon Doc Ock's hospital massacre is as violent as it can get. And that was awesome.

Not a good scene for anyone who has a thing about fingernails :otto:
I second that!

I think the movie needs new creative control (director/producers). But no one wants to let go of this cash cow. We all know Sam Raimi's style and direction all too well, his style is like a finger print, it doesn't change. That's what Spider-Man 4 needs the most, something new and better in style, storytelling, acting, action, direction, dialogue, special effects, etc. We need to see a film with complexity and maturity, where as we can't guess exactly what's coming next based on previous films.
100% AGREED!!!

And I also want a New Director and Producer! I'm really tired of Raimi's vision, just like Jick mentioned. They delivered with the first 2 Movies, but it's time for something FRESH!

Exactly how mature can Spider-Man go? And don't give me "I want a hard boiled crime story." Becuause that's not it at all. That's Batman. I remember someone saying that to give it a more mature edge. Whihc is incorrect. Spider-Man is Spider-Man. I don't want to see dank shadows and constant rain. Is that the kind of stuff that means a mature take to you? What makes a story mature is the writing and its themes.
I highly doubt he means anything like that. No one said that if the movie is more mature you will see dark shadows and constant rain dude, relax. Since when does DARKNESS or MYSTERY became sinonims for MATURE? The success of TDK is really getting u guys! U think that Batman is the definition of mature Movies now or what?:whatever:

------------------------------

These Movies need to be a bit more REALISTIC and MATURE (unlike Spider Man3). Peter was beat up like hell in SM3 and there wasn't a single scratch on his face! I mean come on, I don't wanna see blood spread all over like some of you understood in another thread, but I don't want uber cheesy fantasies like Giant Sand Monster and a movie which was drowning in tears, complains and etc other Drama **** either. I'm really tired of Sam Raimi's vision and interpretation on Spider-Man and that's why I want a new Director, a New Producer and probably a new cast also (Tobey wasn't in shape at all in the last movie and they definetly need to get a new Mary-Jane)!

He's a fan, just like us. He doesn't think that 0he's brtter than thesource material, he's just combining the lee/Ditko/Romita days of the comics and combining them with his own ideas. That's not a bad thing, IMO.

Between the hating, people bashing CaptainStacy for some reason, and my own personal thoughts, this is the most sensible post in this thread.

No, he thinks showing The Lizard tear someone to pieces on screen makes the movie "mature", lol...
Don't be a complete and utter ass. You know damn well that's not what I meant by a mature and complex Spider-Man. The story-arc Kraven's Last Hunt is mature and complex. But it can't be adapted in its raw form, because it doesn't fit Marvel/Sony's Hannah Montana mentality that they have created for these films.

You know CaptainStacy, you'll one of the reasons why we have a Peter Parker who dances like Jim Carrey in THE MASK, instead of an intelligent speaking and confident Peter Parker of the comics. You're the reason why an A-List villain like the Green Goblin looks like a Power Ranger and recites nursery rhymes. You're the reason we have simple storytelling that has MJ being kidnapped by every villain, as not to confuse kids with an actual meaningful script. You're the reason we have villains whom are not bad nor evil.

You're the audience whom Marvel/Sony are trying to cater to, and are losing quality and the respect of the franchise in the process. The movies are unable to expand, branch out, explore new territories of Spider-Man's methos because of the juvenile, childlike, product placement, boy band box that holds these films hostage. :o

It actually a cop-out. And the reason the franchise is losing its QUALITY.

Apprently that's what many people think. Check the threads out and see.

Can't people explain why they want a new vision that doesn't consist of childish reason of whining and comlpaining? I'm fine with opinions, but when they're complaints gets too out of hand its different.

Wow, I don't believe it. Eight years. Eight looooooooong years, and Visionary has been banned.

I wonder what he did to deserve that.

I want a new vision because I want to see where else this franchise can go. I'm tired of Raimi's vision.
once, he said in a interview (don't ask for link, I won't look) that he likes Peter Parker way more than Spider-Man, and that certainly helped SM3 become what it is - a Peter Parker movie, a soap opera.

I'm happy Raimi is returning, it guarantee's that the movie will AT LEAST be somewhat quality and entertaining. I just hope he learns lesson from Spiderman 3, lessons that need to be learnt so the series can move on to a bigger and better place.

I second that. It gets annoying, if you ask me.

Raimi's right. It's always about the man behind the mask. A person's true heroism. Demonstrated in SM2 with the flaming building. Mirroring the scene in SM2 but with Peter. It shows true heroism comes from the will of the person. Superpowers don't make up for that. It's just something you think will help you. If the will of the people is there, you will always win.

Oh, blah, blah, blah. You hate the movies so much, then don't watch them.

Makes no difference to ME.

Exactly, that's why I think Sam is right for these films. He knows how to make us feel for the characters and understand their problems.

Be fair dude, he is right. We're lumbered with Raimi's vision because enough people have turned up to watch it, the majority of whom are totally indifferent to little things like character nuances.

This current incarnation of Parker with his on-the-nose emotions is becoming increasingly unacceptable. Peter Parker is a cool, witty character. So make him cool and witty!

Whenever has Peter Parker been "cool?" Show me where he has. Even when he is Spider-Man he still is a nerd.

Oh, im sorry; did i some how give you the impression i give a **** what you do or don't "respect"? My bad. :yay:

Only by 1) this post and your use of a cuss word to "try" to make your point... and 2) your previous post where you took exception to me referring to you as an "old man"... but other than those and previous encounters....

"no"

:oldrazz:

:woot:

Yes Raimi does have the right to maybe interpret characters a little different in his vision. But it doesn't give him a excuse to completely butcher the characters. He might as well of just created his own ones from scratch.

Spiderman 1 was perfect, apart from power ranger goblin, the others, not so much. Why make Ock a sympathetic villain?!?! And why make all of Spideys villains linked to him on a personal level? It works with some of them, but not every single frickin one!! Sandman uncle Ben's killer? Do me a favour.

Then he does and makes Peter Parker a whinging little prick, Harry was a much better character than him. And don't get me started on MJ, but that may be Dunst's fault really.

The guy (Raimi) thinks he is being clever by reinventing these characters, but he is just making them crap. He doesn't need to reinvent them, they are already written for him. Little tweaks here and there? No problem. But when you start making your lead a unlikeable prick and decide to make every single frickin villain personally attached to Spidey you are a idiot.

Now I love Spidey, I want to see him get the right treatment. But unless Raimi and co stop thinking they are cleverer than the original comic writers it isn't going to happen.

Well said.

So Lee/Ditko/Romita gave us the Clone GweMJ that we have in the movies, and they gave us the "it's all about one girl" in their comics.

They "did" give us some of Spidey's greatest storylines, storylines that we have not seen in the movies. Capt Stacy's death, Peter's Love of his life hating and blaming his alter-ego for her father's death, Peter's Love of his life being killed by his greatest foe (Green Goblin), Spidey getting no respect or appreciation (a recurring theme, see Gwen blaming/hating Spidey above)...

where we DID get the Spidey Day in NYC... you got to be kidding me???

Guess we can chalk that up to the ole Parker Luck from the conics eh?

NOT

So yes... It is a "Bad Thing".

And no, I am NOT saying Spider-Man franchise is a waste, or was bad, it was good, it is just that it could have "easily" been GREAT if they had stuck more to the blueprint called the comics.

As you said, it comes from the writing and themes. The writing and themes from the comics were MUCH more mature than what we have got in the movies. They have dealt with drug use, murder, etc.

In the movies, it feels more like a teen romance flick that Spider-Man. SM3 was a joke with the relationships between Peter/MJ/Harry/Gwen/Eddie... felt like an episode from 90210 or somesuch instead of a well written storyline.

And that is what Visionary is saying. Improve the writing and themes, and improve the movies to what the comics gave us. And I totally agree.

Never going to see anything like that. I reckon Doc Ock's hospital massacre is as violent as it can get. And that was awesome.

Not a good scene for anyone who has a thing about fingernails :otto:

I don't think Visionary is saying they have to show blood and guts on the screen, but they do need to imply that the Lizard is killing, or they should IMO.

The same as the scene in SM2 with Ock in the emergency room... "greatness", and look Ma.. no blood or guts. :cwink:

"Very mature post" :whatever:

God Forebid anyone have a critical opinion of Spider-Man... or worse.. one that disagrees with "your" opinion. One might get banned for it.
