This is almost a dream come true for me. Only one problem. Sony is rebooting it instead of Marvel.

I wish Raimi had a chance to redeem himself, and SM3 was no wasnt so bad that there should be a reboot

BUt yes. Teenage Spidey thats what I like to see Michael Angarano is my top pick

Strange. So does this mean that Vulture will be in the reboot with Malkovich portraying him or is he gone with the SM4 script?

I was actually really excited about another Spider-Man film with Raimi and the whole crew.

Say what you want about SM3, the first two films are still among the best comic book films, hands down.

Spider-Man 1&2 are TIMELESS CLASSICS. How DARE they reboot the movies. Just because Spider-Man 3 sucked chode, doesn't mean you have to completely start over!

I have issues about the direction of the franchise (particularly the effects of S-M 3 :awesome:), but it wasn't really anything that couldn't be corrected by some sharp moves in the fourth film (even if it was under different directorship and lead actors :awesome:). The word 'overkill' seems very much applicable.

Does this mean another round of 'webshooters vs. organics'? :hyper:

I agree. SM3 had its faults but it wasn't beyond saving. SM4 was really heading the right way. The whole cast was really excited, the addition of Malkovich, new writers, Raimi returning to his original ideas for SM3...

I'm a little disappointed. Well, a lot.

I have very mixed feelings about this..

I'll miss you forever Tobey Maguire. <3.

I'm so confused. SM4 is scrapped?

It'll be like the beginning of the Hype boards all over again! :atp:

Why do they need to reboot it?

We have everything established, so I really hope they just continue on where spider-man 3 ended. If there's no need for a reboot when Stan Lee left the spider-man books, then you don't need to do it with the movies.

I'm sort of pissed with this news since I loved Raimi and really think he would've made #4 his best. Either way, I'm excited for the next spider-man movie.

Hopefully now though Tobey MacGuire will be able to get more great roles like the one on Brothers

I'm pretty happy about this Rami made a good Spider-Man trilogy. Can't wait to see a better Venom. :woot:

WOW!!!!

I'm speechless. This is....unbelievable. I never thought they'd do it, despite how badly Spider-Man 3 was received by the fans.

Damn.

Bad move, Sony. Bad move. A reboot would've been fine after a good fourth film, but this.... even though SM-3 had a lot of problems it wasn't nearly bad enough to commence a reboot.

It's too soon.

YES!!!!

This is a dream come true.

Mark my words, Spider-man fans will love this if they're going for a more serious, comic-accurate, and gritty take on the source material.

Less kid friendly, more Batman Begins-like.

Better realism, and definitely a better cast. This is exactly what the franchaise needed.

I have no doubt that when the rebooted film rolls around in 2012 (if we're even alive...jk) it'll be great, but this franchise feels incomplete. SM4 could have brought the franchise home and full circle.
