Good news for fans for Percy JacksonFox 2000 is planning a sequel to the 2010s Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
According to the Los Angeles Times blog 24 Frames, an unnamed source told them the movie will be subtitled The Sea of Monsters from the second novel in the author Rick Riordans five-book series.
The source also confirmed actor Logan Lerman will be back as Percy Jackson in the sequel.
Fox 2000 has hired Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (Ed Wood, Agent Cody Banks) to write the script adaptation of the novel.
Director Chris Columbus, who helmed the first film, is not expected to return to direct the sequel. However, he will produce the sequel along with Karen Rosenfelt (Breaking Dawn). No new director has been named at this time.

The original film introduced Percy Jackson as a boy who discovers he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon in todays modern world mixed with Greek mythology. The film managed to gross $89 million domestically and received an additional $137 million overseas.
