The Amazing Spider-Man Percy Jackson's Logan Lerman in Early Talks for Spider-Man

I'm sticking with Lerman having a good chance at being Spidey, until I see them actually cast someone else.

Exactly! Until I hear someone other than Logan has been cast, I still see Logan in the running. I remember when Sam Jackson was declaring left right and centre that he hadn't been cast as Fury and wasn't going to be in the iron man movie.....well, we all know what happened there, eh.

this is getting ridiculous.
the movie comes out may 4 2012, so you have to assume the movie has to be in the can at least a movie in advance april 2012. that gives them exactly 2 years to hire the entire staff, complete pre production, principle shooting, pick ups, post production and music...

and they haven't even cast the main lead yet...

this movie is going to be so rushed.
this is a joke right? they have still a loooooooooooooot of time for summer 2012.

Captain America comes out next year and they only just cast Evans a couplke weeks ago. So, I really doubt this new spidey flick will be rushed.
Spidey not...............but fact is that Captain America will be rushed.

the train sequence took two years to complete and look at the quality of that sequence compared to everything else in trilogy. I was hoping they would get a head start for the effects would be perfect because spidey's dynamics is easily the hardest thing to get right and look real.

they spend more time on the sandman effects then on the trailer sequence.

A lack of announcement is not a lack of progress. Besides, Iron Man 2 is coming out about two years after its predecessor, and that looks pretty groovy and polished. (But this is just from trailers.) It's not as if they're starting blind. They can look back and improve upon everything Raimi did for Spider-dynamics in the trilogy.

Watching 3:10 To Yuma, Lerman was good. A young character that wasn't annoying and provided a heartfelt father-son story in the mix. If he's cast, I'll have no complaints.

C'mon Sony, 100% confirm it, will ya.

That will in no way be as easy as you make it sound. John Dystryka left after SM3, and the team he lead, who worked on the first two movies, were hard pressed to equal those movies in 3. As much as the action sequences rocked in SM3, a lot of the sfx were not as polished as the work in the first two movies, especially SM2. So, think of how hard any new guys will have it, Dystryka is a legend in sfx for good reasons. He not only pioneered the space battle work in Star Wars(the camera he invented for these purposes is actually the Dystraka-camera), but created the first CGI superhero used in a movie back in 1995 with Batman Forever. Hell, the sfx he did for 'Batman and Robin' still look better than most CGI work in superhero movies today. It might have been a terrible film, but the sfx were top notch.

you mean he left after SM2? I watched the making of SM2 and dystraka said the worst of SM2 had to be better than the best shot of SM, obviously that credo went out the window with SM3.

going back to lerman if he accepts the role (for 3M) then no way on this earth is he going to be the new peter parker.

Yeah, the only one he did not work on was SM3, the team he lead on 1 and 2 did SM3. So, his guiding hand went a long way. That's what I meant in regards to what the poster said I was responding to. I think folk take that sfx work for granted, if the actual people who worked on the effects for 1 and 2 cannot equal that quality without their leader, what chance do a bunch of newbies with less time to work on them have?

depends if they keep the effects at sony imageworks which let's face it, seeing as its sony is VERY likely

Which is bull because the flip turn/razor bat dodge in the burning building and the final swing in SM are probably the best CG shots of spider-man throughout the series and in most movies in general. What I hated about these movies were the lack of consistency with the CG. Sony imageworks needs to piss off somewhere and bring in a company like weta or ilm to handle the CG.

Meh. Glad it's settled.

I wonder who Sony is actually considering for the role.

That still proves nothing. So Logan has no idea what's going on...so he says. Could be true may not be true. However, who ever they cast, I just hope it's a bloody good choice.

"I know nothing, to be honest," Lerman told MTV News. "As for that movie, Marc Webb has got to be one of the most talented directors out there. Whatever he does, whatever Sony does with the film, they're going to make an awesome movie. But I know nothing about it." Was the actor ever actually in discussions? Is he still a contender or has he been knocked out? While Lerman remains tight-lipped about exactly how extensive his conversations with Sony were, t's clear now from his words that the actor is no longer in consideration for the part"Basically I was just a fan," he said. "Just a guy who was interested in the movie and I was just hoping to be considered for it. As of right now, I don't know where they're going with it. Whoever they get and whatever happens with it, I'm sure they're going to make an awesome movie out of it." t." So with Lerman seemingly not fated to land the Parker role, who in fact will take over for Tobey Maguire? Rumor has it that Sony has narrowed its sights to five actors: Jamie Bell, Alden Ehrenreich, Frank Dillane, Andrew Garfield and Josh Hutcherson. As for Lerman, the kid didn't even get a chance to try on that iconic Spidey suit"No," he said when asked about the suit. "No." Disappointed that Lerman's out of the running?
