I wish after he was blown up by Harry that would of been the last we would of saw of him, that way he could show up later as a villain.

You're guys idea about showing Lizard then going back in time sounds like a TV episode. Unless there is something HUGELY revealed and hopeless about the future, people wont care if Spidey is fighting is big reptile. For example: Mission Impossible 3 did that, but it revealed that Tom's love just got shot in the face, and is dead!

In the book it was stated that even penny knew there was nothing that could be done with her illness, so I would assume Flint is spending his final time(s) with his daughter
INdeed. I'm actally glad they didn't kill him off. IT would be quite sad, actually.

And then what? What happens to his character afterwards? Is he just going to be sulking around for the rest of his life?

yep. oops I failed at life. boo hoo. I'm gonna go cry on the beach. maybe if kids make sand castles out of me, that will cheer me up.

Based on the sources that were posted in this thread, Sony wants that Vultress non-sense, and are not keen on the idea of the Lizard cause they want a villain who looks more human.

I can see not using Lizard. Like I have been saying, much of Lizard's story was used in SM2 and added to Ock. Also, how has he been hinting at it for several films? Just because Connors is there? That doesn't mean he intends to make him the Lizard ever. That just means he decided to use the character on a regular basis. It's not like he has alluded to becoming the Lizard ever in the films.

Actually they have, Connors had lizards in cages in the background in Spidey 3.

Honestly, I don't believe Sony wants Vulture. Rami originally wanted him in Spidey 3 & the ONLY reason Venom was in Spidey 3 was because WE wanted it. That means Sony listens to us a little bit, it's a clear that Lizard is the most popular choice for the next movie. Lizard = Money, just like Venom did.

Plus, if they want a more "human" character then why Vulture? Why not someone with cooler powers & who's more popular? Like Electro, Black Cat or Scorpion. I'm not hating on Vulture here, I actually think he'd be a good villain if done right... But I'm smelling some BS.

Finally, someone did some research.

But that could have been said in the film as well (it's a deleted scene).

People can say what they want, but Sandman in the movies is way more interesting than Sandman in the comics. I will take the daughter bit over "I juz wantid mai deplowma" anyday.

I don't see the BS, cause if Sony was pushing a villain into the film due to fan desire, it wouldn't be this Vulturess thing. It would be the Lizard, but we've heard nothing about Sony wanting the Lizard. Only a small report on them not wanting the Lizard.

What do you think the BS is exactly?

I'd say Carnage is the 1 dimensional, 1 note villain. All he does is kill, kill, kill, kill, kill. That's it. Nothing more to the character.

That's maybe what SM4 needs.... a villain that is totally magnificently skillful at what he does; that's not only a threat to Spidey, but humanity as well.

That's a heavy challenge to overcome.... and I'm sure there's a lesson to be learned from it.

Sam

Twas A Good book. and I think that was filmed, it was in the shot of sandman beating the bejesus outta spidey, and in the background you can vaguely makeout his family.

Spider-man villain has to be visually stunning. Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman (which you have to admit, many of his scenes were really cool), Venom (also had a couple cool scenes), Green Goblin 2 (best fight of Spider-man 3), and you want to follow that up with Vulture? Are you kidding me? Do the Lizard already! It seems obvious.

The Vulture is lame as hell, and no physical match for Spider-Man. Go simple, go with the Lizard, then bring in Electro and/or Scorpion.

^
Well Vulture's suit gives him super strength, and he could give us more aerial battles.

I'm sorry, but we don't need any more aerial battles, with technology similar to Oscorp, or probably taken from them.

Not sure if it's been posted yet but has anyone seen this?

http://www.cbc.ca/arts/film/story/2010/01/06/spider-man-dispute.html

I personally don't believe it since it really hasn't been reported any where else or maybe I don't want to believe it because I want the Lizard to be in the film rather than Vulture.

Thanks for the post.

I knew people were already talking about it but this is my first time reading the actual article.

Personally I hope this isn't true or as bad as it sounds, in regards to the studios trying to force Raimi's hand.

If that is fairly accurate, I'm all for having just the Vulture as the main villian like it says Raimi wants. The first two Spider-Man films only had 1 main villian and did fine. People think Vulture is lame in the comics but on film you can make him a badass. Just like people complaining about Whiplash in IM2...no imagination.

Again I don't mind Vulture, but I really don't want him as the only villain. Spidey needs more of a challenge. That's why I say bring in Electro also because Spidey literally cannot touch him and he'll have to beat him with something other his fists.

Vulture could be the brains. Electro the braun.

As I recall, he went off to take care of his wife and sick kid.

I'd love to see Sandman again. He was really under utilizied in Spider-Man 3. Don't think it'll ever happen now, but there was so much more potential with that character.

By the way FNJ, really enjoyed the recent Movie Moan. Great retrospective on the year.

Would you prefer a ground battle against?

Ground Battle with Lizard? Yeah, I'd love that. Sewer? Subway? Yeah, that could be awesome. Used a little bit against Sandman, but there is still lots of potential. Maybe just street level fighting. Idk, Lizard has amazing agility. I would probably make Lizard smart, not just a monster, but a creature who is kinda insane.

Maybe they could have Lizard use his intelligence to try to rid himself completely of Connors. (A kind of reverse Bruce Banner) would be good and more personal story.

there are so many cool things you can do with the lizard

a) the change
all the other villians put on a costume, conners CHANGES into the lizard.
sam could really push the PG13 to the limits. this could look stunning on screen.

b) the lizard can scale walls like spidey
so you have the potential for kick arse action on the side of a building or under a bridge or wherever sam can point a camera

c) the lizard has a tail
which can be used to beat spidey, which can be used as a spring to traverse great distances

d) the lizard is vicious
sure conners can be sympathetic but the lizard can be pure evil, with the duel personality of the lizard you get the best of both worlds

e) conners and peter are already connected
no rediculous retcon needed to form a connection to peter

f) conners has a rich background
he has a family, there is no need to flesh out the character as was the case with doc ock. if you explore the background of conners, show his changes progressively getting worse, his family becoming more scared and isolated, the police as they want to catch the creature responsible for terrorising the city, spidey caught in the cross fire, more than enough material to fill a movie.

the lizard is a villian ticks all the boxes but sam is passing on him because he wants the vulture and vultress and sony are passing on him because they want a human face. clueless, absolutely CLUELESS

I heard Raimi actually wants to use Lizard. From stuff I have read he has good ideas in mind, and a story he wants to tell, it's apparently Sony that wants this Vultress nonsense.

Yeah, I seriously hope they pick a half way entertaining villain...
