Spider-Man: Edge of Time - Part 1

Nah hes not in. Just speculation.

Alchemax supposedly being an science-center lends itself well to scientist villains, and villains with unusual power that one could imagine being incarcerated and tested on. So I don't think we'll see any street villains actually.

Here's some info gathered from Game Informer about this game:

- It is speculated that the villain who kills Spider-Man is either 2099 Goblin or Halloween Jack

- Amazing Spider-Man isn't interested in changing reality, as the alterations in time have given him a wealthy job at Alchemax

- The entire game takes place inside Alchemax's headquarters

- Often times, changing time as Amazing will cause unwanted results in 2099; for example, if a giant robot is destroyed in Amazing, a bunch of smaller robots will be made in 2099

- The areas in the 2099 universe will be constantly changing

- The relationship between Amazing and 2099 can be compared to the relationship of Spock and McCoy from "Star Trek"

- New powers for both characters have been added to the formula; so far two have been announced

- Amazing's new power is the ability to automatically dodge any sort of attack, making him invincible for a limited time

- 2099's new power is to make a clone of himself to distract enemies

- Beenox is still currently developing the game

Just got the new GameInformer, and it comes with a story on Edge Of Time. A couple of new screens are in it.

I've never watched Star Trek, whats Spock's and McCoy's relationship like?

I just replayed the Sandman level from Shattered Dimensions, its still fun. There are some (okay, plenty) of kinks to be ironed out that I hope they address. One that sticks out is the audio cues. Hearing Madame Web telling me to throw a water barrel three times in quick succession totally breaks immersion. Same when the dialog layers over it self.

Oh god, same here. Madame Web was such a moron in that stage.

Halloween Jack would actually make sense as the 2099 villain who kills Peter. He was first introduced as a power-hungry Alchemax scientist, a notable 2099 villain, has never been in other media beyond an action figure for X-Men 2099, and has experienced both time travel and dimension travel before.

If it is him, it's already a step up from having Mysterio as a main villain.

How would Peter have a job at Alchemax...if he's dead? I don't get their time travel storyline here...I understand the dude who kills Amazing Spider-Man sticks around to create Alchemax and then Spider-Man 2099 goes back in the past to fix everything, but....if Peter is alive with a job at Alcehmax...did the time traveler scientist go back in time once more before he kills Peter 616? Lol...so...freaking...confused...by...plot.

And...who's Halloween Jack? Sounds like a name that should've been used on The Cape.

those are some interesting tidbits from Game Informer.

What's there to be confused about? Spidey 2099 knows that Peter will die soon and warns him about it before he dies, but after Alchemax has been founded. Obviously, Pete's death will not cause Alchemax to start early, but one of their plans would have been foiled by him, which would expand it enough to become an empire in 2099.

What's confusing is the fact that Beenox made it seem like the guy going back to the past just wanted to kill Spidey, but now it seems the guy just wanted to create Alchemax earlier and Spidey just got in the way(so Alchemax started earlier, Pete works there and Spidey 2099 should've just gone back in time earlier to just stop the scientist from even creating Alchemax). Which, that sounds even more stupid.

Why search when I know there are people like yourself that can enlighten me? Lol.

Just got my new issue of Game Informer in the mail 2 days ago. Cool new pictures, but I wish they'd give more info on the gameplay.

I like the idea of Halloween Jack. I don't like that Parker doesn't want to change the reality back to normal. Wth? I like the other points though.

Oh, and is there a way to find those pics on the net?

This is "The Samaritan", the new Unreal Engine 3 tech demo:

Imagine an open world Spider-Man game that looks like this.

Definitely don't like the idea of "The Samaritan", lol, but I would love this engine to be used on the third Batman game...or is AC using engine 3?

No need to wonder how a Spider-Man game would be on this though...Beenox/Activision does not care for quality as we've said many, many times before.

Well, Activision certainly doesn't care for quality, but I don't know about Beenox.

Exactly. I do get the feeling that Beenox really does want to make a great Spidey game, but are mostly held back by Activision. Unfortunately, many people ignorant of how the gaming industry works immediately blame the developers without thinking carefully about other factors.

I remember this truly obnoxious guy from the Neoseeker forums that made death threats against Beenox simply because he didn't get his precious open-world game, and thought Activision was doing the right thing by meeting deadlines. :whatever:

Glitchvision, most games they released has at least a couple of glitches, other than USM game on the PS2

I think Beenox gave its answer on quality when they made Mysterio as the final villain, imo.
Nothing is wrong with that, Mysterio deserves better exposure, much like Marv Wolfman did in his run of Amazing Spider-Man, not the villain to take for granted

Oh my God. Are you serious? THAT determines a developers view on quality? The final villain? Oh, yeah, forget about graphics or gameplay or sound. It's that final fight that shows REAL talent.

Man, that explains why Arkham Asylum sucked so much...

While I really dislike the final battle in Shattered Dimensions, it was more due to technical reasons than the choice of villains. Mysterio is very underrated, and while he wasn't my choice for a final fight, I could respect why they did it. Not to mention the full-powered Mysterio actually looked pretty menacing and cool.

Okay, let's say if I brought in the graphics and gameplay...that we all know was very poor in graphics, and the gameplay were inferior to Web of Shadows, which was a very ignorant game. If I brought in those two, then there wouldn't be anything new to say..so why did I bring in Mysterio? Well, we were given a B, C-level villain to be the final villain and we get a wannabe Doc OCk and Ultimate version Green Goblin. Terrible choices, imo.

BUT....the story itself should be a reason why quality isn't what Beenox prefers, which is what I am getting at. The story was pathetic and we were shown an awful villain which we should have gotten one of Spidey's top two villains(Doc Ock or GG).

And the games should be using the Unreal engine(2, 2.5 and even 3), but we'll never get that unless someone else works on these games besides Beenox; if they did care about this game, they should've taken more time in working on this game to make SD a 9 or 10 instead of a 7, imo.

Yah, because it's not like Joker is Batman's greatest enemy, right? Awful comeback dude :o

What is an "ignorant game"? A game spouting racial slurs at you? Sometimes you're just talking out of your ass Anno. For one, the graphics in Shattered Dimensions can hardly be called bad by any standards. And I for one do not want any Unreal Engine in Spider-Man, not every game needs it.

I can give you that the story wasn't all it could be, but everything else is just your personal opinion. I do think Beenox care about making good Spider-Man games, no developer sets out to make a bad game.

And you continue to show a complete lack of understanding on how the game industry work by saying stuff like this.

Yea I love Mysterio, he's always been one of my fav Spidey baddies.
