Spider-Man: Edge of Time - Part 1

I liked Anti-Venom, but the slimmer version of his first appearance. I don't like this brute one.

I love that last part of the trailer when Anti-Venom leaps onto Spidey.

OK, I'll admit, technically, Anti-Venom is NOT a symbiote. If anything, he can actually kill symbiotes upon contact.

I'm surprised that one of Dan Slott's creations showed up here and not in SD. Wonder how he'll fit in the game's storyline?

Well, now I have another reason on why I won't be getting this game.

What? Having symbiotes?

Both the PSX/N64 game and Shattered Dimensions had them...

Anyway, i'm still not impressed by this game until I see it play out. Seems like a rushed thing tbh...

Since when is Anti-Venom a badguy?

Well, the trailer really doesn't say he's a villain. Just that he's fighting Spidey. And remember that Eddie is still a bit unstable, so "misunderstandings" cause the two to fight, like right now in the comics. So, Eddie sees Spidey attacking a "legitimate" company like Alchemax, and feels the need to stop him.

A game that played a different tune with the symbiotes(c'mon, Doc Ock creating a machine to duplicate symbiotes is an interesting take than what Web of Shadows did), and then a game that had the Ultimate version of Carnage, and just as one tiny level is different than seeing game after game after game with just the symbiotes and them not even caring about making a decent game with GG or Doc Ock.

Plus...this looks like a re-hash of Shattered Dimensions, and I don't care about any kind of sequel to that game. At least SD felt somewhat original.

Plus...tired of those graphics and the gameplay. EOT should have been different. They can pass the whole two different times and what not, but at least make it look different than SD.

"Sorry Spidey, I know we've teamed up, but still....no bueno. Now I must kill you. Can't eat your brains though; that was Venom's shtick. And I'm ANTI-Venom!!!!! Dun, dun, dun!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Blame the current comics for that one. :cwink:

Now that you mention it, I find it amusing that in the comic, Venom joked about eating people's brains.....and later writers took it WAY too seriously.

Anti-Venom should at least get himself a motto of eating hearts, or at least toe clippings.

Beenox messed up...read this...:csad:

Activision confirmed that Anti-Venom is the foe that takes Spider-Man's life and kicks off the entire game.

:cmad:

Also, the evil scientist that goes back in time is in control of Anti-Venom. I dunno if that means he IS Anti-Venom or he has some mind-control on him...but still...

Wha?

They should have made this an actual sequel to Shattered Dimensions, that way, it would have been Ock who kills Spidey!

Well, according to IGN

Whenever Anti-Venom touches Spider-Man, he sucks the radioactivity from his body, rendering him powerless.

Wow. Ok now can we officially deem this game a pass?

Haha. You can. I never truly cared who killed Spider-Man...at least it's someone who has the ability to. I never honestly buy too many games based on how good they are. I have fun with "bad" games all the time.

Yea and I do too man. I mean I own Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and enjoy the s**t outta that game. But c'mon, anti venom? Really? I mean I don't dislike the guy but of all the villains to kick off these events, they go with anti venom?

Yeah, knew about that. I had a feeling he really would do it.

Oh well. At least it wasn't a random regular scientist. :oldrazz:

I love anti venom, I don't like how they're using him though.

could someone explain to me how Anti-Venom taking out Spider-Man makes this a bad game? Why are some of you writing it off purely for this?

How does it not make perfect sense that Anti-Venom could take out Spider-man? He takes the spider abilities from him just by touching him (healing his blood of the radiation from the spider bite)...if someone could take control of Anti-Venom, he could feasibly kill Spider-Man.

The reason I'm not excited for this game is because it's looking to be a part of the usual Activision formula of create a game and then milk it to death with yearly iterations that don't improve much (if at all) over the previous release until the franchise is left in ruins.

But people acting like "oh Anti-Venom? pff...this game is pure trash now" are being ridiculous.

You might wanna consider spoiler tags...just a thought...

This post had me lawling. Just the way I read it had me busting a gut.

Ah. Thanks to your hate of this game, I had a good laugh. So thank you.

You're welcome, lol. I find it better to make some laugh while you hate on a game than getting heat for it.

I've been saying this game will suck from the beginning, so I can say, from my point of view, it's not just because of Anti-Venom.

Well, the way that they explain it in the IGN article is that Anti-Venoms power to cure people means when he comes into contact with Spidey, he technically cures him of his radioactive blood. I don't really mind it to be honest, simply because the very fact that Spidey is killed in the beginning of the game already lets you know how high the stakes are, regardless of the villain. The fact that it's at the hands of a reluctant villain, if anything, interests me more.
