Spider-Man: Edge of Time - Part 3

Hi guys, I beat the game at around 6am this morning after pulling an all nighter, I'm exhausted, but it was worth it lol!:sleepy: The game is fun to play, the combo moves are pretty awesome but what really makes the game is the story and especially the back and forth between Josh and Chris, really fun hearing them go at it.:D:up: I'm not gonna sugar coat it, the web swinging kind of sucks, it's not terrible but it ain't great either.:(

On a positive note you get a crap load of costumes which is awesome, but you have to jump through a few hoops to get the better ones, it's a decent challenge though.:up: I just wish the whole game wasn't in one place and was a bit more open ended, it wouldn't even have had to of been full on free roam, maybe something like Arkham City just a highly detailed section of New york would have been awesome but I digress.:wall: The game has a few flaws and can get annoying in a few places but over all it's a winner and does more things right than wrong, 9/10!:spidey::up:

P.S. The final boss fight is pretty awesome!!!

I want to play through this, but yea, I'm just gonna wait for it to hit that 20-30 dollar mark. Shouldn't have to wait long.

Here in Sweden, I've looked around everywhere checking the cost of the game. And at most places, this game is more expensive than Arkham City.

Good luck...

This game won't sell well.

Yup, it's expensive on account of being low profile here in Sweden. I mean, Spelbutiken (one of the better online retailers) still have the release date listed as October 28th. And you can't even pre-order the 360 version.

I actually just read a few reviews this morning. Joystiq's review is what I'm going with. Stuck in one building for the entire game, no thank you. I'm hoping this is a lesson learned and next games are back to Freeroam.

Yeah! No TV commercial or anything of what I've seen so far. Hadn't it been for me being a Spider-Man fan, I would've never known about this game. Even Gamereactor hasn't picked up much of it. At least not compared to other games. I'm eager to read their review on it btw.

I don't know about you, but I'd wait for at least Gametrailer's review. They're the ones I listen to the most.

I think it's a matter of taste. Joystiq's reviewer obviously wants an open world Spider-Man game. Now granted not having played it yet myself, the impression I'm getting is that if you liked SD you'll like this, if you hated everything about SD you'll hate this.

Yeah there have been nothing at all. Even Jonas Mäki haven't written anything about from what I've seen. And he's a pretty big Spider-Man buff from what I understand. And yeah, SD got a pretty good review from them.

I never just go by one review. It's easier to see what the general consensus is on a game, and not pass it of from one review.

I know, right. What was Rocksteady thinking of when they stuck Batman in one building in Arkham Asylum? :o

I didn't really like that review. At least with the others, they criticize the game for its own merits (story, voice acting, graphics) and faults (repetitiveness, too short). The Joystiq one just sounded like a ******** guy ranting about the lack of free roam.

Beat the game. The final boss battle is pretty cool because you're constantly flipping between timelines, and what you do on one, effects the other. I have to say though, the end cinematic is pretty lame. I can also confirm that there's a total of 4 bosses in the game.

To me thats what the Joystiq review sounded like. A guy complaining about stuff the game didn't even try to do. Sure it may have some merit but complaining about the lack of free roam in this is like complaining about the lack of free roam in God of War. Sure other Spidey games have used it but there is no rule they have to have it in the game.

The end cinematic in SD was lame as well. How long would you, and the others who have completed it, say the game is? The first impressions said 6 hours, but reviews seem to say 8-10. This is kinda important to me because I don't wanna shell out to much money for a short game. Also, how is the variety in the game? Does the fighting feel as constant as it did in SD or is it paced better?

I would say it's somewhere around the 8hr mark. If you go back and try the challenges (how you unlock costumes), then you'll easily squeeze 10hrs out of it. It's a solid game, but I'm not sure if it's better than Shattered Dimensions. Maybe just as good, but in different ways. I would love to see an entire game with 2099, or go back to the regular universe and do an entire game with some characters that we all want to see. Either way, Barnes and Keaton need to stick around for good.

SM2 had great webbing but I didnt find its combat particularly great or fun
I actually loved the combat in that game. A combination of that and the combat from WoS would be awesome.

One of the many reasons S-M2 still remains my favorite Spidey game. :spidey:

Basically, Chris Barnes and josh Keaton make an amazing team. Hopefully, they are brought back for more Spider-Man games.

One thing that I've noticed in some gameplay vids is that I've never seen any of the Spider-Men use the Web Strike moves that are in SD.

Is that move not even in this game at all? That would be a major disappointment.

Guardian, and anyone who finished the game, can you replay missions with upgrades? Level select menu?
Is there the ability to roam in Alchemax and choose which Spider-Man to play with freely?

He was stuck in an island with 5 or 6 buildings, but none of them is this large

What were Capcom thinking when they placed the heroes in one building in RE2?

Why haven't there been any pictures of the Ben Reilly suit yet?! :argh:

I quite positive I saw the web strike in a walktrough a while back.

The people need Ben Reilly!

Anyone? I won't play the game before a year from now

The web strike is in the game for amazing. 2099 has a cooler move.

Do we get anything cool during or after the credits? An epilogue?
