Sounds about right. The game looks terrible.

Damn, a 4.5 on IGN!? I don't like to take everything IGN says too seriously anymore but wow, that's pretty low. I'll still be adding this to my :spidey: game collection but still, that's pretty shocking actually. Shattered Dimensions was pretty awesome.

I don't get why they don't have the same person review the same games. This guy would have given Shattered Dimensions a two compared to the stuff he disliked in Edge of Time. But I don't listen to IGN anyway, they're ****.

Except IGN is usually too soft on games, rather then too harsh. If the guys who were willing to give free passes to things don't like it, its a bit of a red flag.

I was just about to post the IGN review. I have to say I was really, really surprised when I saw the score. 4.5 is low.
Nothing against the new X-Men game, but I wasn't fussed at all by that, wasn't even going to rent it. I thought it looked very boring, but the IGN review for that got a 5.5. I just can't believe that that would be a better game (by a 1, sure) than this, according to IGN.

IGN is easy on top level games. You will never see a game like Gears of War, Halo or CoD get a bad score. Ever. That's what they are notorious for. They always give those kind of games 9s or higher. I haven't seen them give one of them an 8.5.

Except they give higher scores to almost everything, not just those types of games. IGN almost always gives a higher score to something then say gamespot This is like getting a bad review from David Manning. If the site that is overtly generous gives you a bad score, its not a good sign.

and how often do you see those games get low scores elsewhere? They score high bc by and large, those are great games

you cant necesarily compare different games to their score especially when reviewed by different peopple

I swear I had a conversation with my co-worker the other day about IGN and how I said "When did we get to a point where the first remarks about a game we're interested in brings up what IGN decided to give it so we can judge it through them?" We agreed their scores have been pretty WTF for a while too. I always find myself browsing their site and reading their reviews. It's kind of like TMZ with me, it's ridiculous but very 'Ohh I wanna read that..' *click*

No, I usually agree, but I still find it weird just how many game get a 9. Just a 9. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I still find it strange.

Eh, looks better than SD, that crap was revered even by them
The moment he said "It's rare to have a good Spider-Man game, and SD is one of them" I turned off the review
IGN lost my respect a long time ago.
IGN never had mine

Yeah, right

Yeah, the low score is probably due to a different reviewer. Greg Miller, reviewed SD and gave it a surprisingly high score of 8.0. It does seem inconsistent that the same site would give it 4.5 if it were the same reviewer.

And that bit about the story being straight-forward and boring is way, WAY off, considering what I've been spoiled about it.

Yeah IGN isn't the best site, but it's that the score was so low that shocked me. I can get behind that the environments seem bland and so on, but a 4.5 from IGN practically means that the game is broken beyond belief, which EoT certainly doesn't seem to be.

Indeed.

Plus, I loved how the review bashed this game for not being "episodic" and not having first-person moments.I'm sorry, but weren't these aspects that were CRITICIZED in SD? Don't get me wrong, I had no problem with them, but I do remember there being a lot of complaints about them.

Anyhow Gameinformer gives Spidey Edge of Time a 6,5/10 ah well maybe now Activision can give Beenox and others more time, alsong as noone is purchasing Silicon Knights' X-Men Destiny and Beenox's Spider-Man: Edge of Time, can't let the slacker distributor getting too much monayh. Ah well this is kinda good for me since theres already so many exciting games comign out.

Just beat the game earlier, pretty fun all in all. Ill probably sell it soon.

I'll probably get this for the PC. It's cheaper and can probably be modded so all the costumes can be worn by both characters.

A 4.5 from ign is a little surprising, would of thought more around the 6 mark. It always looked like a less interesting Shattered Dimensions. Glad to see it get low scores and hopefully poor sale. Maybe that will force Activision go try a bit harder.

I did borrow this from work tonight, so I'll beat it over the weekend and see how it really is

They'll probably decide it's the developers fault and look for a new one.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised if Activision looks at it this way.

IGN's review is crap, though. A 6 would be the lowest score I'd reasonably imagine.
