Spider-Man: Edge of Time - Part 4

Honestly, I was interested in SD, but Chris Barnes was the only reason I bought it. I freaking love that man.

It's killing me that I don't have EOT, but it's also sad that it apparently sucks.

My favorite part of SD was actually 2099. If I wanted to play all Noir...I'd just play Batman: Arkham __________.
I like how NOIR guy shuts thugs up more than Batman giving them the chance to scream though

Yes, it does. There is one section of the game that looks slightly different and thats because theres a few trees. The environments are one of the reasons the game is so damn boring.
Like 4 or 5 rooms looking somewhat different, the rest are the same?

So apparently my cousin played and beat the game and basically told me the story of this game (Surprise surprise Walker Slone (Val Killmer) is nothing more than a red-herring the real villain of the story is none other than [blackout]Peter Parker of 2099[/blackout]).
I want to see that:hehe:

What's that I said about no longer caring for Activision Spider-Man games?
I think it will now stand firmer, but I will still get this game just to keep my collection of all Spider-Man games I can get, after it cheapens a lot

Really? I hated it everything about it. Terrible bosses, environments always looked the same, enemies were lame, etc.

Most reviewers didn't dig 2099 either. Well, I know PSM hated it.

Noir was fine, I actually didn't care for Amazing or Ultimate...they got old too fast. Granted, I felt EVERY dimension got old fast, but at least with 2099 I got to play as S-Man for the 1st time ever (and not just a costume alt), I did like the environments, and I preferred 2099's combat more than Ultimate's and those damn Web-Shapes melee attacks from Amazing.

Just a little tid bit of info that I thought I could mention. Sorry if this has been discussed prior.

On the main menu screen for EoT there are several options to choose from such as, New game, Continue game, Web of challenges, Upgrades, Bonus Gallery, etc. There is one option that says VIP Unlock Codes.

Then, across the top of that main menu, in a scrolling news bar format, it says to "stay tuned to herohq.com for info regarding the VIP Unlock Codes for additional in game content." If you go to HeroHQ.com's Facebook page you'll find that they are keeping a tight lip on it but will releasing that info soon.

It's a longshot probably, but it'd be cool to see them release some more 'gameplay' type content such as additional maps, more bosses to encounter, arenas, etc. Anything to help add to the replay.

I doubt Activision would go out of its way to use this for actual DLC support. Most likely just early access to the Identity Crisis suits for those who didn't get them or something equally lame.

the ending to Edge of Time was so lame
the final boss battle was pretty cool though.

Yeah, the ending was pretty simple, and yes, the final battle was pretty awesome. Far, far better than the overkill that was the Mysterio battle, and this one actually felt epic.

Peter David mentioned in his blog that the ending had to be re-written back in April. I wonder what the original ending to this game was going to be?

Wait for a collector's edition for that, the has to be one to unleash

One thing that I didn't care for in Shattered Dimensions was how Spider-Man 2099 was characterized. I was really happy playing Edge of Time how in-character he was, and that is no surprise coming from Peter David himself. Always reffering to himself as Miggy, saying shock all the time :woot:, his password being Lyla, being mostly totally serious the whole time with a deadpan sense of humor, I just loved the attention to detail with his character this time around.

That's good to hear. That was one of my only nitpicks with 2099. He was too funny.

In the main menu, there's a crawl at the top of the screen that says there's DLC coming. I wonder if those are the bonus costumes from the different retailers, or actual DLC (levels, more costumes, etc) are on the way?

Maybe some challenges

Agreed overall, lol.

I need to read Spider-Man 2099, I have the comics but never read them

Yeah like I said it's probably a longshot for additional gameplay oriented DLC but it's still something worth hoping to get. If it's more costumes or something equally lame I am gonna write a strongly worded letter to Beenox :cmad:

The characterization of 2099 is MUCH better (as is the voice from Barnes), but the overall gaming experience from Shattered Dimensions is better than this game. Switching between the two Spider-Man didn't really feel all that apparent in terms of the combat. You're basically dealing with the same exact characters throughout the game. I was hoping for more varied combat, especially with Amazing. His web attacks were severely limited this time around.

Yeah not as varied but I love that web hammer. So cool looking.

I only don't own a small handfull of spidey games
Are you saying you own a handful of spidey games or you own several? I own twelve spidey games. So has anybody here played the 3ds version or know where I can read a review of it? There aren't any as far as I know. I'm thinking about asking for a 3ds and maybe this game to go with it. Is it the same as the regular ds version?

Any word on who voices Anti-Venom and Doc Ock by the way? Behindthevoiceactors.com says Steve Blum is AV.

They are correct. Steve Blum is listed in the credits as Anti-Venom, along with Fred Tatasciore as Atrocity and J. Jonah Jameson.

However, Doc Ock is not listed in the credits.

I think someone said it's the same as the Wii

Steve used the same voice for Killer Croc. It's definitely him.

the best part of this game was probably the cinematic, those were very fun to watch.

Yeah, I might just watch all the cutscenes on Youtube instead of actually playing the game... :\
