Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 1

Honestly, there are so many things I dislike about that alleged leaked plot that I really, really don't want it to be true.

Its definitely Ock. They're setting up the Sinister Six and Ock Is integral. They're essentially doing an adaptation of the Master Planner arc. The mysterious man putting together all of these villains

Based on what, exactly? I don't doubt they'll get around to doing an MCU Sinister Six story eventually, but I don't know that Vulture last time and a broad cameo/setup for Scorpion is really enough to assume Ock's in 2 and already starting plans for an evil team.

It could be, sure. Just seems a little early for all that though, unless they're playing a really really long-game with the setup and we don't actually get Ock himself front-and-center until like movie 5.

And hell, shouldn't Spidey probably face Ock solo before we start getting into S6 territory? Sort of feels like the big-deal bad guys like Ock, Goblin, Lizard should be well-established before we start getting into team-ups.

If that's going to be the plot...I kinda like it.

We've had six movies of Spidey in NYC dealing with girls, education, Aunt May, etc. One movie of not that sounds pretty refreshing to me. They're clearly putting Spidey on the path of being an A-squad Avenger, having him deal with larger scale conflicts sounds like a good way of building to that.

Sinister 6 looks like its a definite priority for Marvel, which is good. It's the biggest part of Spidey-lore that hasn't made it into the films yet. Doc Ock is probably the man behind the scenes, but I think there's a decent chance it might be Kraven instead, like in Spider-Man: Blue. I'd prefer Ock.

As for Jessica Drew, I'm a bit  on that one. She doesn't have that big of a connection to Pete in the comics, as far as I know? She's only named Spider-Woman because Marvel wanted the copyright. I'd prefer someone like Black Cat or Silver Sable if they want Spidey teamed up with a woman. But Jessica has been an Avenger, maybe they want her for that purpose. I like Spider-Woman though, she's always been an underserved character.

Jessica is Peter's clone in the Ultimate line. That's the only reason I can think of behind connecting the two characters.

Well, she also calls herself "Spider-Woman", she wears a similar costume, and she can crawl up walls... not that it matters since, at least according to that leaked plot, in the movie she will be [BLACKOUT]just a secret agent.[/BLACKOUT]

I don't see the resemblance in attire. :oldrazz:

Powers don't connect their stories together.

What if she fills the role as the "guest character." I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel owns the 616 version while Sony has the Ultimate one.

Was she ever like that in the comics? I don't know much about Drew

The eyes, the armpit webbing, the color red, the styliz spider on the chest... come on, it's pretty obvious that Drew's costume was inspired by Spidey's. :hehe:

A secret agent? Yeah, as far as I know (tbh I haven't read the old Spider-Woman comics) she used to be one before joining the Avengers. The weird part is that they're taking away her powers... in the source material, she's had them since she was a kid/in the womb (there are two different versions of her origin story).

I don't get why they're doing it. I'm just hoping they will at the very least get her personality right.

I don't think the Sony contract situation is relevant for a Spider-Man movie since that's precisely the point. It's a joint venture so Marvel can use the characters they otherwise wouldn't have the rights to use.

^ Yeah, Homecoming was a Marvel/Sony collaboration, that's why Tinkerer was in it.

This is super interesting, mind sharing a link?
I didn't take that screencap, but as I said you can find the document on WikiLeaks. Just google "WikiLeaks" and "Spider-Woman".

Sure but when push comes to the shove, what it really boils down to is, will Kevin Feige allow his MCU property to show up in another cinematic universe? Doing so makes the Sony universe the MCU universe. I truly think that’s a huge red flag on KF’s radar and he’ll work something out to prevent it or fix it.

Oh yes, I would trust Feige to do everything to protect the MCU from Sony's garbage. For some reason, if Sony starts having success with their spinoff movies, I could totally see them making ill advised decisions.

I wonder who's Freddy Parkington.

Dependent upon if she is in the film, I'd love to see these ladies as Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman:

1. Gemma Arterton.

2. Mary-Elizabeth Winstead.

3. Lily James.

But can't we say or presume that Mac Gargan's line to Adrian Toomes in prison about, "I've got some boys on the outside who'd love to meet him" could mean Mysterio or at the very least Quentin Beck? Maybe Beck starts out as just a common thief but then later becomes this larger than life international thief utilizing his special fx wizardry and teaming up with the Tinkerer. I mean it's possible Tinkerer could've had a hand in making Mysterio's suit like he did with Shocker's gauntlets and Vulture's suit.

I also am wondering if they'll update Mysterio's suit but keep certain aspects as an Easter egg similar to what was done with Vulture's suit.

I really want the traditional look....

But since Shocker really didn't have a proper suit, I worry we're going to get more of Ultimate Mysterio and/or Ultimate Scorpion (if he does show up.)

I would be okay with looks like these but want the cape. He needs the cape and fish bowl or metallic faceless mask.

I'm still grappling with the fact that I know more about this movie then anyone else in the forum.

I really don't want a "grounded" version of Mysterio's costume, the entire goddamn point of the character's look is to be outlandish and theatrical. Also the Shockers were both side characters, so they could get away with having a toned down look, but Vulture got a big and scary design, so I don't see why Mysterio wouldn't.
