Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 1

I'm honestly a little shocked. Unless Kevin's lying to keep it a secret. But I would like this movie to be just about Spidey to differentiate it. Spider-Man the animated series had access to other heroes but they weren't in every episode of the show, sometimes it was just about Spidey and his world, and I honestly think this Spider-man needs to build his world up a bit more. Still have references to the other heroes like Cap's school videos.

While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about his latest movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp, editor Dan Lebental was asked about Far From Home, and how his work there will differ from Homecoming.

"I can’t say much about the new Spider-Man but I will offer up that it will be both grander in scale and even funnier than the last one," Lebental teassed. "The rest of the story will have to wait."

I'm a bit surprised it won't be Strange appearing in the sequel. It just made a lot of sense.

I'd rather Spidey be solo in this one but we all know that's probably not the case. I wonder which hero it will be. I'm assuming Widow now

Is Samuel L. Jackson all done shooting his scenes for "Captain Marvel?" Would be kind of cool to see him in a Spider-Man film. Nick Fury featured a lot in the Ultimate Spider-Man books.

I always loved that father/son relationship between Peter and Nick in Ultimate so yes that would be nice to see.

Actually it was more of a uncle/nephew relationship lol.

Hmmm, so Peter gets killed in IW and the movie that follows up from that is gonna be funnier than Homecoming?

I'm sensing some kind of tonal inconsistency here...

It's a Spider-Man movie. It's always going to have comedy. Especially from Marvel Studios.

Maybe coming back to life is a fun experience?

Or maybe he (and most other people) doesn't remember being dusted at all. That's the most likely scenario, if you ask me.

We have no idea how the results of the whole gauntlet incident will play out.

I'm not saying a Spider-Man movie shouldn't have comedy (it'd be a sin if it didn't), but Far From Home would be a good opportunity to explore Peter's feelings on actually dying, seeing how it affects him a bit.

Of course, that might depend on the outcome of A4 and whether he'll even get to remember or not.

True. And just because it's funnier doesn't also mean it can't have moments that are very dramatic as well.

I agree for sure. I don’t doubt that FFH will address the events of the INFINITY films. Remember, Feige’s said that the INFINITY films will launch FFH the same way CIVIL WAR launched HOMECOMING. Also, I think the title “FAR FROM HOME” alludes to Peter and the residuals of the events of INFINITY.

This. If they get too broody about it, it’ll fall into TASM territory.

We don't know the circumstances of their return, yet. Why don't we judge that at a later date?

The standalone movies should feel like their characters. If the events of Infinity War carry over Spider-Man, and it isn't funny because of how depressing deaths were, then we are into Batman v Superman territory where the tone doesn't fit the character of Superman.
And Spider-Man (most of all) should be bright, colorful, funny, lighthearted. At least in this current incarnation of the MCU.

Honestly? I don't care. I need more Spidey...now. Holland has me more pumped about Spidey movies than I've been since Spider-Man 2. I want it to be funnier, bigger, bolder, and I want it to be awesome. Just...take my money. Please.

Have you ever read If This Be My Destiny, Death of Jean Dewolff, Son of a Goblin, Night Gwen Stacy Died, Venom, Death of George Stacy, Return of the Sinister Six, Maximum Carnage,The Gauntlet, Kraven's Last Hunt etc etc?

Spider-Man has DOZENS of serious, dramatic stories. I don't understand the notion that some have that Spider-Man movies are supoose to be comedies. The Raimi films had the perfect time for the character

I especially hate when some say he’s not a mature character and is for children while Thor is more mature. I think that’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard anyone say. Spider-Man is the face of marvel and resonates with more people for a reason

Agreed.

Also just because the story is serious doesn't mean it can't have some comedy in it or Spidey can't quip his jokes. I too thought, "huh really?" at Spider-Man Far from Home being called funnier than Homecoming....like really? Did it need to be more funny? It was already pretty joke filled.
