Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

i think this will also be the last appearance of the iron spider suit. i think he will go back to his regular duds by end of the movie.

Not to mention the big death, the major twists, all the Easter eggs, every major plot point of the film, and the very final scene of the movie. I think the only surprise they left for us was how bad the film would be when we actually saw it.

Damn I’m like usually 100 percent team shinlyle but..... But i actually liked the movie and had fun with it. Thought it was much better then what critics and so on said....Would have had more fun if the entire movie was spoiled on tv.

However, Everyone entitled to their opinion....

Unfortunately yours is wrong for once :yay:

Can't say TASM2 is near and dear to my heart, either. Not a fan at all.

I like 50% of that movie, man. The first 8 minutes dealing with his parents again, and the middle hour dealing with his parents...again, killed it for me. I loved the beginning scene and the ending. I just didn't like Jamie Fox as Max Dillon (liked his Electro, though), and I wasn't terribly fond of the Goblin. I like it just fine....just not as much as ASM1, which already dealt with that whole Parent issue.

And it's okay, man. We all have our illusions! ;)

1 billion dollars is happening, boys and girls...so long as the movie isn't a total crap-fest.
That's a given by now.
If it does end up being the highest grossing Spider-Man movie, I will express a lot of pleasure knowing that happens to a movie with Mysterio as the antagonist.

I agree with all your dislikes though lol . They should have scrapped Jamie Fox and electro completely. Just focused and developing Harry/goblin. I will say though the action sequences were better then any other Spider-Man movie not including a train.

I liked the bridge scene in SM1 better than anything action-centered in TASM2. Anything in TASM1, for that matter, even w its own bridge bit. People underrate that first Raimi flick. The action is tense and visceral, and that warehouse fight is bloody & sweaty without being a top-to-bottom cartoon.

For me the school fight in TASM is still the best. it seems the most spider-man like. more from a creative standpoint in personality, use of power abilities and fun.

The Raimi action is often huge and fun but lacks the personality. if you changed up a few things and replaced spidey with superman it could be done easy,

I love Jimmy questioning why they are still in high school after 5 years and no one has an idea how to answer.

I will say that I’m not sure if I ever want a true 616 interpretation on the big screen. Like I’ve mentioned I’m a huge die hard fan of the character. However i feel it’s such an “easy” character to mess up .

Most fans and the general public perceive her as a gorgeous dumb ditzy supermodel chick. Her personal demons, struggle, her family history, issues with self worth and so on are subjects that I don’t think anyone other then fans that are well educated on the material know about. For the reason it would seem like the easy way to just portray her as the that “cliche” hot female lead that contributes nothing but “screams of danger” and I don’t want to see that done to her. I just don’t have faith in the team that they would make it work.

So for that reason, I just prefer adding different spins to the character ( like the PS4 version, ultimate Spider-Man version, MCU version). Just seems safer that way.
You're probably right, a proper adaptation of MJ wouldn't be an easy job to do, but the thing is they haven't even tried to do one. And that's what really bgged me the whole time. TSSM TV series gave us a great version of a character so why this seems like an impossible job for the movies to at least try? I mean, what's the reason for Zendaya being MJ while not being Mary Jane? Even their explanation for making everything different for it to feel fresh doesn't work here because it's not like we had an accurate portrayal of her in the movies before so making Zendaya's MJ closer to the comicbook version would've felt different from what we've had with Dunst.

Wow, this is a real cover?

I think Dunst was about the closest we've gotten on screen for MJ. They had some of the aspects down for her. The problem I had with Dunst was that I just didn’t like her. It never clicked with me. The characterization was there on some levels and missing on others but they tried a bit. The casting was just off for that one for me. I can still hear her annoying screams echoing through my skull..

I do think zendaya could have pulled off 616 mj and nailed it. For whatever reason I just don’t trust them to pull it off though so I guess I would just rather play it safe.

The opening web-swinging was amazing. I still love how it was shot. From the opening dive to the entire opening car chase...it was some of the best Spidey action aside from Spider-Man 2.

what if the gut punch is they use zendaya in the gwen stacey role and she dies in this one?

That’d seem awfully heavy compared to how light Holland’s solo movies have been so far, plus he just lost Tony.

But it’s something Holland was worried about the reception of and which Watts said would be divisive, so who knows.

Unless it’s something totally exaggerated and predictable like Mysterio being a villain that they’re just being overdramatic about.

The movie having some kind of shocking reveal doesn't shock me. I mean, Mysterio is in this movie, and deception is his game. So I am thinking there is an aspect to his plan that subverts expectations. So, we'll see what that means, but I doubt it is something as basic as "Mysterio is a villain, wuuuuuut!"

I just hope it's not like the Mandarin twist, which was fun for 5 minutes, but then you realize they just wasted a character.

Well the fact that it said people will probably hate it. i guess its gonna some big taking change that some won't particularly like.

Hopefully not anything that would impact Holland’s future in the MCU.
Yeah...I keep fearing they are going to jump the shark and bring in a live-action Miles and finish out Peter's story...after we just got him back! I don't mind a live action Miles, but just not yet.

Oh god damn I wasn’t even thinking about this and now you planted this seed in my mind. Paranoia is setting in for me lol

I’m far from a miles hater but in a perfect scenario Holland would star in 4-5 more movies and actually grow up with the character as well. Would love that. It’s not time for miles yet.

What if it's revealing that mj is Mary Jane? Michelle Mary Jane Watson? That could alienate some people.
