Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

Perhaps Fiege didn't wanna touch anything that had come previously anyway. after all Mary jane was changed for no reason. and i doubt Sony was like they we wanna make a Mary Jane movie so you can't use her. and Marvel were like ok but what if we create a new versions whose not Mary Jane but is still MJ aaahh ;)

spidey probably has the best rogues gallery with the exception of probably Batman's, so I think theres some truth to trying not to repeat stuff thats been done before, but I don't doubt that we'll eventually see an MCU Doc Ock, Goblin, Sandman, Lizard, etc

If the train of thought that spidey will be in the mcu for years to come with multiple trilogies rings true, then I don't doubt that we'll see some of those aforementioned villains after they're done putting their spin on villains not previously done before.

Spider-man would be the only one to get multiple trilogies. none of the other characters have broke the 4th movie yet. after the characters had their 3rd movies they just went on to appear in other characters movies.

and he should be the first to do it, its spider-man for crying out loud. He's the crown jewel and while he isn't completely necessary for the future success of the MCU, the spider-man merchandising rights are still with disney, so the more successful the character is on the big screen, the more merch they move. And I'm sure DIsney would rather be in control of that as opposed to letting sony give everything back to Avi Arad and the rest of those clowns. Not to mention the fact that in order to keep playing ball with sony, marvel has to have a spider-man movie out every 2 years or something like that.

Also starting him out in high school kinda calls for multiple trilogies if you really wanna flesh out a full arc for MCU spidey.

so the more successful the character is on the big screen, the more merch they move

Well really all Disney have to do is let Sony make Spider-man movies in general, and they can profit off the merch. just think into the spiderverse... thats pretty much a goldmine for marvel right there and they did nothing for it.

Technically the only money being made from MCU spidey for Marvel is merchandise. but then thats a give and take sort of situation. Disney won't help Sony make money if they don't make money also.

well what I'm saying is that if Marvel/Disney put out spider-man films that resonate the way films like the Amazing spider-man movies couldn't, they kinda control their own destiny as opposed to just collecting checks from stuff sony makes, films with merch that might not offer a big a return as an MCU spidey movie.

Not a huge deal, but its just a business practice probably followed considering the unique terms of the partnership.

I'm still amazed that spider-verse turned out to be what it was, just goes to show that even sony of all studios can put out good stuff if they let the talent do what they do without the interference of corporate clowns

Maybe if merchandise went up enough to warrant it. you know thats why Spider-man changes costumes so much. its likely for toys, and Far From Home seems to have several outfits.

But then Marvel are in that position where they can make merch money with little to no work.

I haven't been thinking about spider-verse merch, kinda using the previous live action spider-man film series as a reference point. Plus the film didn't really do gangbusters at the box office despite its high acclaim, so that could play a role too.

And not to use this as a concrete point or anything, but I work with kids and I see Spider-Man Homecoming merch all the time. Have yet to see anything spider-verse yet, but that could just be that the film only recently came out.

My main point was just that the MCU is kind of a cultural staple in our society at this point, and regardless of what you think of the movies, him having a piece in that pie is probably better for the character at this point as opposed to probably what would have been the continuation of the garfield movies.

But then obviously you need to open a slot for a spider-man 4,5 and 6, which then replace Marvel making a movie for a new character that they can start a new trilogy with.

In terms of what would profit them more. thats an interesting question. they can have their cake and eat it, or they can concentrate on a character whose already had 5 appearances, 6 by the time the 3rd movie is out. presumbaly they would squeeze him into another characters movie after that just as an excuse for Marvel to use him and profit on his appearance. that would be 7.

It all depends on how marvel and Sony structure their next deal (assuming there is a next one, fingers crossed)

View attachment 25516 I like how Tom Holland looks even more Peter Parker with the glasses he’s wearing on his press tour in Bali.
That's cool. I HATE to bring up the Uncle Ben thing again hah, but I always thought the best way of honoring him would be to do it like TSSM animated series -- a flashback later on in the series -- and I always thought it'd be cool to see pre-spider-bite Peter/Tom just briefly, the way TSSM did it.

I just really don't think there will be any role for harry. Ned has the best friend role and probably will remain that in the MCU. Ned is the typical MCU comic relief side kick and thats probably more attractive to them.

But then i still do not think we will get more than 3 solo movies either, so switching up the guard probably won't happen.
Harry can also be a different kind of best friend to Peter. He can be the serious one as opposed to Ned the funny one. I just don't believe we'll never get Harry and Norman in this franchise. MCU don't even have much comic relief side kicks. Sam and Bucky (Steve), Rhodey(Tony), Maria(Carol), Loki (not really a side kick) and Wong(Dr Strange) were not that funny. I think because the MCU is always known for their fun characters, people usually forget their side kicks are usually not the comic relief in this franchise.

Well, TSSM is the best. If you're gonna copy something, that's the way to go ;)

Preach. Every iteration of Spidey (with the exception of Spider-man Into The Spider-Verse) pales in comparison to that series. And it still holds up to this day. It's the "Batman The Animated Series" of the Spider-man 'toons. Pretty much the gold standard.

But its like comparing Tony to Uncle Ben. you could possibly do both. it would lessens the impact of one of them if there is 2 of them though. so maybe it might have been easier to have just written the character in the first place rather than fill that gap of best friend or father figure and then attempt a second one too.

But then of course they seem to be doing something with Mysterio like that where him and peter will have this close buddy buddy thing going on. at least till they find out he was a villain all along. but then presumably the buddy buddy thing is more to give them a personal connection when it comes to the change of their relationship at fight time.

Maybe Neds subplot will be jealous of their buddy buddy relationship. you know the way these sorta stories play out.

It's probably not that big of deal but I wonder if we'll ever get a flash back to how Pete and Ned met or their childhood.

I dunno man. I'd say Spider-Man PS4 is up there when it comes to Spidey iterations

No doubt! But I need to see the black costume in action before I can give it any kind of consideration to take the crown from SSM. Black suit Peter vs. the Sinister Six is still one of the best animated fights ever.

Still hurts me to this day that the show got cancelled. And honestly it feels like Marvel and/or Spidey animated series have only gotten worse since then.
