Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

I personally am not a fan of extended cuts that are done just for the sake of doing an Extended Cut. If it's something like the director did not get Final Cut and then the studio lets them put their version of movie out that's one thing, but for cash grabs were just making another version of the movie just to make a couple extra bucks and throw in random footage in the movie, I don't like that very much. I prefer to get the real version of the movie the first time I go see it. Not be denied that when I first watch it.
I hear you. I sorta relate in terms of a completionist and perfectionist outlook haha. The extra footage is going to be ADDED to the movie, not like ENDGAME where it was just AFTER the movie. It's most likely going to be him in the Iron Spider suit taking out the crime family that's shown in the trailer. I'm personally hoping they show the stuff Watts was talking about where Peter is checking off his "to-do list" before his trip. Apparently he sells his STAR WARS toys for money for the trip (which I really like), buys the dual headphone adapter, and takes out the crime family.

Put it in there the first time I say.

^That would be fine

I just don't want this to be the new standard going forward
"Eh grab a deleted scene and slap it in there, we'll squeeze a few million more outta this thing if it kills us"

Yeah...so Hollywood saw what video games have been doing for years with DLC and said, "I gotta get me some of that!"

I may go see it again, simply because I was wanting to anyways, but if Hollywood starts releasing incomplete films the way that video games release incomplete games so they can sell you the rest for a premium later, then it's the beginning of the end.

What really sucks is, they STILL won't release the Snyder Cut. EVER. Because, you know...it doesn't exist...and it probably sucked, too.

Movies have had director’s cuts and extended editions for ages. For fans of a film, that’s usually a nice thing. Sometimes the extra stuff isn’t great, but there are many times where the extended/director’s cut winds up being my preferred version of the movie.

But most of the time people only get to see these alternate cuts on their home “screens”. I find it frustratingly weird that some people are so jaded that they look at something like this as a negative.

I really enjoyed Far From Home, but I did feel that it was missing “something” as I would have liked to see a bit more of “Spider-Man” doing his thing in NYC before he goes to Europe. If this is a NYC Spidey action scene at the beginning of the film, then it may be exactly what I thought the original movie needed in the first place. So I’ll be interested to see this, and on an actual movie screen.

Movies have had director's cut, sure. They don't typically have the cut when said film is still in theaters, and definitely not so soon after they first hit the cinema. Hell, for some, the director's cut is what you get when you purchase the home release, not just a retread in the theaters.

Take Avatar, for example. That re-release came nearly eight months after its theatrical run and when the film was available on home release. Far From Home, by comparison, is a mere two months after its release and when the movie is just barely out of the top 10 films- as of now- for daily gross. Not sure what you find frustrating or weird when between this and Endgame's cash grab of a re-release, it's double dipping just to grab more cash. Not because there's something substantial enough that warrants purchasing another ticket.

Didn't see that coming. This is a Deadline report, so I tend to believe this. I hope it isn't true though. But if this is true, and Holland and Watts are still in place, I want to know what this means for the Spider-Man continuity going forward. In short, if Feige and Marvel Studios are out, can they do reference the events of the last 2 movies?

I'm not even a huge fan of MCU Spider-Man but this blows. I was looking forward to seeing him interact with Captain Marvel and the new heroes.

Thanks Sony. We can always count on you doing the dumbest thing.

Said this on the Marvel board, but this is disappointing. Sony be Sony

Sony still demonstrating that their learning curve with the Spidey franchise is a flat line.

I have a lot of issues with the MCU Spider-Man, but this does kinda suck to a degree. We don't need any more TASM on our hands

I too am disappointed in this news greatly. But, I also want to see Spider-Man movies in the future to be good, so having Holland and Watts still for 2 more movies makes me happy at least. I am curious to see how the effects the next Spider-Man film behind likely lacking references to other Marvel heroes. Like, do Homecoming and Far From Home still count? Will they still build off of how FFH ended and if they do a Sinister Six, will we still get the looks of Keaton coming back?

So many questions. I want to add that if Sony continue this series with Homecoming and FFH still in continuing and they make good sequels, I have no issue keeping them in my head cannon. But, I am with everyone when I say I have less faith in Sony than I did Marvel Studios. This is a big loss, but I do still legitimately hope Sony continue the series with strong movies. What is done is done. Spidey staying or going is beyond our control at this point. So I will just see what happens I guess.

I hate to say it, but I'm sort of apathetic to this news. I mean, I get that it's extremely stupid on Sony's part, but I haven't enjoyed the MCU Spider-man since Civil War.

I enjoyed Homecoming and FFH well enough but I'm surprised how little of a reaction I'm having to this internally. I think part of me was just over seeing toxicity all over the internet regarding discussing Spider-Man movies in not-very-civil fashion. Wonder where this goes next.

After Marvel just helped them earn their highest grossing film of all time.

Comedy.

Disney wanting 50% of the box office is kinda steep. Seems like they were strong arming Sony.

Half of what they made on Homecoming without having any real risk in the venture is better than having 100% of a mediocre profit, and having all the cost on your shoulders.

Agreed. I liked Homecoming to an extent, but overall I just haven't been able to accept the MCU Spider-Man as a whole.

So. Spider-Man Far From Home is the end, huh? No more Spidey in the MCU kills my interest in both, honestly. Just...come on, Sony!!
Ugh.
