Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

I hope Venom won’t make them rethink renewing the deal... I feel like that BO was a fluke.

And Spidey has been too great in the MCU to revert back to Sony only.

I believe most thought venom was in the mcu.

Why in the trailer Fury said “so glad to finally meet you, Spider-Man”

when they were both at Tony Stark funeral just let 30-40m from each other and should have already met? If this movies takes place after EG as they have been saying all along.

As of right now, this is the end of mcu spidey, right? and the film is already done. So what kind of ending so we expect?

I'm thinking peter will continue being spider man but focus on protecting NY. If sony renews a contract then he can return for Avengers 5 and if not then the films just have time to explain where he is and why he isn't around during certain events

I don't think this'll be the end. I feel like I read somewhere that Sony keeps all or most of the profits from the Holland Spider-Man films. Keeping Spider-Man himself in the MCU makes him more profitable and if SONY gets most of the money they'll be happy. And then the Sonyverse is shaping up nice for them in one way or another. Venom was a huge financial success and Spider-Verse made decent money but was a critical success

Did they actually meet? We never saw it on screen and Fury just chilled in the back like a creeper. People might've not actually known where he was there

Preach.
I think the Russos seem to understand his power level than the people behind Homecoming. I mean, in Civil War, he held his own against Cap, he owned Falcon and Bucky at the same time, and he delivered a couple of solid blows to Giant Man. Also, in Infinity War, Cull Obsidian is whooping up on Iron Man, and Peter just CATCHED his big Ax/Hammer thing, and starts a conversation like it's nothing...proving his strength. Also, having him punch Thanos and actually roll him a bit when Tony had to nano-hammer him to get any traction says a lot. Add to that that Peter was never incapacitated for the entire fight, and it lets you know he's no slouch.

Then you have Homecoming. He gets trounced by both Shockers, and I don't think he ONCE hit Vulture that he even felt it. Also, normal thugs taking several hits from him like he's an 8 year old girl. Peter can lift a car, and he had to be distracted or off his game to even BE hit by something with his agility and speed. CW showed this pretty well. Homecoming, he got hit by everything.

Sorry...end of rant.

Agreed. Even though the cap thing still makes no sense to me and never will in the comics either. I mean Spider-Man should be able to tag and avoid him easily. But I don’t want this to turn into a “vs thread” like the old days on the Hype lol.

I enjoyed Homecoming but the power characterization of Spider-Man was so off. It’s upsetting because it seems as if a majority of the fans of the MCU are casuals so they don’t really have any idea what abilities or powers these characters actually have. So the Homecoming version of Spider-Man is what they have and pretty much all they know.

Actually the Spider-Man video game was one of the best portrayed versions of the character. The MCU directors should look at that version for ideas. Those people did their research. His strength speed agility were all on point. His movements in the cutscenes were so graceful and for the most part he was portrayed as someone who is physically far beyond most. I just hope that the movie fans can get exposed to a version of the character that does him justice. He was absolutely pathetic at times in Homecoming.

True. Now, I loved Homecoming, but watching him run right at something and not even attempt to avoid it (Shocker 1 battle) was frustrating. His Spider-Sense really needs to be utilized, for one thing. Also, yeah, he should own Cap. He's faster, stronger, more agile, and can get away in a split second. CW I'll let it slide as it was Peter's first super-fight, and Cap has made a lifetime of doing that...a rematch should have went a little differently.

Yeah, comparing other Spider-Men to Spidey PS4 is like comparing other Spidey animated shows against Spectacular. Those bars are impossibly high! I LOVED you could physically stop a car in that game! I love that you could actually take on 20 thugs with guns, and win, as opposed to the Arkham games where a thug with a sniper rifle in the mix pretty much meant death. Granted, that's the difference between Spidey and Bats, though.

I just hope Peter isn't as reliant on gadgets this time. Look at the Vulture fight. The only truly noteworthy fight in Homecoming....no gadgets. That tells you all you need to know.

Wait you can? Looks like I need to dust off the PS4

And I agree I hope Spidey isn't too reliant on gadgets that Stark made. That's somethign I really don't like about MCU Spidey. If they were gadgets he made that'd be a cool. But I don't like how he kinda feels like Product of Stark Industries

But he's young so they need 12 films before he becomes the Spider-Man you know and love! I mean he's afraid of heights and everything! :o

God spectacular was absolutely amazing. I will never understand why that show was canceled. It was far and away the best Spider-Man series with nothing else even remotely coming close. Hell he was actually allowed to punch and kick people *gasp*.

The suit and gadgets are my main issue with the MCU version. Just give the man some red and blue spandex and stop with the high tech stuff. That’s one of my biggest fears with the new movie. We are going to once again be treated to all this suit nonsense. In some ways I’m hoping for some action scenes with Peter in civilian clothes so we can see what he’s physically capable of since at times it seems as if he can’t do anything with out the suit.

Do not get me started with the “scared of heights” situation....I remember watching that scene with my wife and she has limited knowledge of the character and the first words out her mouth as she looks at me was “ Calm down...breathe” lol....I can’t believe they would include that in the movie .

The product of Stark industries is actually the perfect way of putting it.

Dude dust off the PS4 and play the game. Granted it does have some technical flaws without question but it’s hands down the best Spider-Man game and IMO one of the best interpretations of the character. The characterization was spot on. Truly did him justice.

Dude... I got a PS4 JUST for that game, and I don't feel I wasted a dime!! Here a carjacking scene. You have to tap a button, or you drop it...It's pretty slick.

Yeah, I thought Iron Man's involvement was fine, and having him be Peter's role model was fine, but having him become so reliant on his tech that he never really utilizes his powers just seems weak. I would love if they delve into that in FFH. Maybe show that Peter hasn't unlocked his own potential because he was so worried about unlocking his suit's potential. Man, that actually sounds like a good subplot for the movie...

Yeah, Peter basically doing the right thing, having hard luck, and the Peter/MJ relationship...not to mention the BEST Stan Lee cameo ever....

Damn I hate you. You going to make me dust off the PS4 as well and replay this game again. Peter and MJ steal the show. I’m one of those peter/mj together forever fanboys so that relationship stole the show in this game for me.

The Stan Lee cameo is a tear jerker and worth the price of the game alone.

Having Peter unlock his own potential without the suit would be amazing. God I would love that.

I'm just not a fan of how far they went with him being a kid. Yes, he's 15-16... he's not 12

I only got it for Christmas. I'm on my third play-through. It is still gold for me. I even loved the DLC.

I'm a Peter and MJ fanboy, too. I was so bitter when they sentenced "Renew Your Vows" to die by time-jumping it and getting rid of the creative team that made it great. So heartbreaking...like watching Spider-Girl end all over again.

Their relationship in the game felt genuine, too. I mean, "Did you just leave your clothes on the floor of my kitchen?", and the whole "We're done" text battle...those were so real feeling. You could feel the tension and the love there. It just makes you miss the "old days". The Stan cameo had my kids so excited. Yeah, it's a tearjerker.

Yeah, you should read Amazing Spider-Man, dude. The first issue is a big middle finger to the Brand New Day era.

Spectacular should have been the blueprint for MCU Spidey

I don't see why it would. Venom made alot of money and didn't even need Spider-man, like alot of people claimed did.

Sony pretty much can have their cake and eat it here. and when Marvel is done with spider-man which lets be honest there is only so many more times they can use him. Sony will be able to do whatever they like with Spider-man after that.

Not sure this bodes well for Spidey's future in the MCU.

Was she the one responsible for the deal?

I don't want another Spider-Man reboot and even if you dont like this incarnation you shouldn't too. That'd be 4 reboots over the span of 15 years. The audience loves this current incarnation, rebooting him again would almost certainly kill the franchise.

Well as an actual 17 year old I can tell you I have a lot of classmates that act like him and even I could see myself reflected more than once.

Also, wasn't the fact that he doesn't need the technology the entire point of the third act of the last one?

Come on, we all know Spider-Man, like all of these characters, will be rebooted at some point or another, even if it takes more than 15 years. Tom Holland will not be the last person to play Peter Parker or Spider-Man, whether in the MCU or otherwise.
