I wouldn't mind however, see her chastise him for not sharing such an important fact with her; and, see his response.

It seems like because of Ininfity war they time jumped a bit and thats stuff was probably done off screen, so now for the sequel they will need to acknowledge her knowing but all that other stuff is in the past now.

And with May knowing now that means they can keep her involved in the stories better since she can show more knowing concern. and with a potential Hogan relationship, it allows her to stay connected to that wider picture.

But hey the whole May finding out thing was played for a laugh anyway in Homecoming.

I do think they have to build on the Aunt May knows angle. To not build off that is a wasted opportunity.

Since the sequel is "away from home", it does limit that opportunity.

Not really. She can easily have a talk with him about wearing the costume before he leaves and develop that plotline further.

I hear you; but, i agree with the Fan...it would be a missed opportunity not to play on that.

But to settle for business as usual with a slight twist and not see the dramatic fallout of that reveal is such a missed opportunity. The weight that had in the JMS/JRJR comics, or the Ultimate comics where she found out are some really strong moments for both Aunt May and Peter. The JMS/JRJR one in particular just hits you with the real emotions and strength Aunt May has to have. It just feels lazy to me to brush that aside and not want to do any of it (maybe they will, I'd like to see some meaty character moments but I really doubt it with these versions honestly).

I think I read that was something Kevin Feige wanted to put on screen for ages, Aunt May finding out. So they got it in there as the final bit in Homecoming. That's great, but it'd suck if they don't deal with the repercussions of that and left it as something that was played for laughs.

The thing is, its been two years since homecoming. We can't see the immediate aftermath of May finding out unless they do a flashback. I think its about showing us this new dynamic between the two with May in the know, and not about how she reacts to finding out.

I'm really wondering what Mysterio's end goals are in the film since I don't exactly see him being a good guy throughout the film.

In his first appearance in the comics, Mysterio pretended to be a superhero and tasked himself with taking down Spider-Man very publicly as that of a conquering hero. So Mysterio pretending to be a good guy and hiding his true motives is actually in line with that.

Seeing a lot of "fans" worried about Mysterio being a hero... huh? He's Mysterio. Tricking people is literally his gimmick.

Not in the ones I read either; neitherless, I'm with you on the payoff...what was the point in the ending of HC & Pete being afraid to let her know, if they just going to wssh over it. That would be a missed opportunity on the writers part & make little sense, imo.

Don't you love when important character development is relegated off-screen.

It would be extremely disappointing if they did just like skip over that big of a thing. Spiderman 2 and 3 they like hinted that may new but Home coming was the first live action spiderman movie where May new for sure and to like just put that in there for a laugh would be pretty darn stupid. Why put that in there if you are going to do nothing with it than? One of the reasons I was looking forward to this movie was to see the dynamic between her and Peter now that she knows has it is something new for a live action spiderman movie. Even just starting the movie with like a flash back of right after she finds out with her and Peter talking about it and Peter like explain why he does it and talking about Uncle ben and what not would be a great way to start the movie. Than you could do like the marvel intro thing and than say 2 years later or what ever.

As someone who didn’t care much for Homecoming I can’t say I’m that stoked for Far From Home given that it’s from the same director and Homecoming failed to make much of an impression on me the first time, but one of the few good things I liked about Homecoming was the ending with Aunt May finding out about her nephew’s alter-ego. So I hope Marvel does do something with that since that’s a totally new angle that’s never been explored before(though if I recall the Riami/Webb movies sort of hinted that May had some inkling that Peter was Spider-Man). Not sure I dig the idea of Aunt May who’s traditionally a bit of a worrywart in the comics being fine with her nephew being a vigilante.

Though of course, in the comics when May found out she was supportive of Peter being Spider-Man largely(from what I remember) because at that point Peter was an adult and he was living on his own. Peter in the MCU is still a kid and frankly I’m not sure if any parent/guardian would be okay about their child putting themselves in danger by fighting crime(even if they have superpowers). I have to wonder if they’re just afraid that May might bog the movie down if she was constantly in opposition to Peter doing what he does to the point that the audience starts to dislike May(kind of like how Skyler from Breaking Bad was such a disliked character because she was so against what her husband’s second career being a drug kingpin). If May is constantly nagging Peter against being Spider-Man that might get grating for some people.

A Russian press site has revealed the Spider-Man: Far From Home synopsis:

“Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and his friends go on summer holidays to Europe,” the synopsis reads.


“However, the friends will hardly be able to rest — Peter will have to agree to help Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) uncover the mystery of creatures that cause natural disasters and destruction throughout the continent.”

The Far From Home trailer — debuted exclusively for attendees at Brazil’s CCXP convention over the weekend — showed the super-spy sedating Ned (Jacob Batalon) and quietly recruiting Parker to help battle “Elementals,” creatures composed of sand, water, and fire.


Parker, who left his Stark-crafted Spider-Man suit at home to enjoy his overseas vacation with his friends, is supplied with a stealth suit and must team with new “superhero” Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) — who is also backed by Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. — to halt the destructive creatures, with Spider-Man and Mysterio emerging as “brothers-in-arms,” according to Holland, who was on-hand for the Far From Home panel Saturday.

“There are these threats to the world, the Elementals, elemental creatures. And Mysterio is someone who knows about them and wants to make sure that the world is safe from them,” Gyllenhaal revealed at CCXP.


“And Nick Fury asks him to come on and help because he’s the only one who really understands them. And then he teams up with the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and unfortunately has to make him become more than a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.”

Descriptions of the trailer reported the element-inspired creatures as homages to famed Spider-Man foes Sandman, Hydro-Man, and Molten Man, but the creatures appear to be the Elementals of the Marvel comic books: a group of mystical ancient beings who resurfaced in modern-day New York City.

Among their members were Hellfire, who possessed mastery over flames, Hydron, who controlled all forms of water, and Magnum, who had power over the entire Earth, endowed with abilities capable of generating humanoid creatures made of the planet’s environment, such as sand and stone.


Marvel fans were left upset over the weekend when Sony Pictures neglected to release the first-look footage online. An unconfirmed online report claimed the trailer will arrive for general consumption on December 18.

“We debuted the new Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer just for you guys exclusively, because sometimes we just want to show our support, and you guys have been so amazing to us ever since I got this job,” Holland said when addressing the crowd at Sony’s Spider-Man presentation.

It's a new way to develop Mysterio for a nice twist in the end where we find out he was the villain the entire time. It works and Marvel has another great villain!

I don't get the point of tying him back to SHIELD. While it was different, Ghost was tied to SHIELD as well. I wish we would move a little bit away from that.

I now don't think Nick Fury is real...think he an illusion by Mysterio, to get Spidey on board, gain his trust, while he set him up. The Steath Suit is a Mysterio ploy to learn, collect data, to later mimic him. Beck is brilliantly evil.

Wasn't there a rumor Chameleon might be in this as well a long time ago? Perhaps they're working together and Chameleon is pretending to be Fury (assuming he is this)?

I would be cool with either of these ideas. Just as long as they don't make it so Chameleon posing as Fury knows Peter's identity out of nowhere.

It could be that. or he is discovered to be a fraud, feels rejected and seeks revenge by the end. rather than being the mastermind behind it all along.

It very much depends how much of the film he is seen as a good guy. if its just the ending then that means most of the films events were all fake just for this ending twist.
