The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Man Gets a Set of Parents and Another Villain

I remember reading that sony were blown away by a venom script heavily based on the ulitmate venom story. characters involved in the ultimate venom story

peter - obviously
aunt may - younger version
gwen
EBJ - slim and blond and older than peter
peter's parents
eddie's parents
shocker cameo

hmm...

Van Adder has nothing to do with Baron Zemo then?

WTF is this??? I've never been as confused as now, seriously. My head is spinning.

Khan?? Proto-Goblin?? Van Adder and a wife??? Seriously...WTF!?

They could make great movies with villains such as Mysterio, Shocker, Vulture, Kraven, Scorpion etc. and they pick Proto-****ing-Goblin to be a villain?

Meh, screw this. Could turn out great for all I know but seriously, everything so far seemed so great, this is really drowning most of my excitements and hopes for this movie.

I'd wait for confirmation until getting angry and even if there IS confirm you have no idea how this villian will be used on the big screen.

look at batman begins, the makers had the choice of using;
joker
penguin
riddler
mad hatter
clayface
poison ivy
freeze
bane

but when with carmaine falcony and ras al ghul and look how that turned out.

Yeah I may overreact and the more I think of it, the more I realise that it COULD be cool actually. But I still am quite disappointed that they pick a villain such as Proto-Goblin rather than those I listed before, if all of this turns out to be true. Also, this could very well mean that they'll go the Ultimate route on Green Goblin later, which I'd hate. Anyway...looking forward to Lizard at least, if he's used the right way so to speak.

I am both satisfied and dissapointing with these news. I'm satisfied because I'm glad Marc Webb is using less known Spidey villains, but I'm dissapointed because I just wanted one villain (Lizard) in the reboot, unless Proto Goblin is a minor villain I'm fine with it. Then again neither Sony and Webb have confirmed this so we'll just have to wait and see.

But there's not really many lesser known villains in Spidey's rogue that are cool imo. I think most of Spidey's quality villains are well known. Mr. Negative is a new villain that I think is pretty cool that's not very well known maybe, but that's it I think. So using lesser known villains in a Spider-Man franchise is the wrong way to go I think, when there is such a huge list of quality villains that still haven't gotten the spotlight on the big screen.

I'm very happy with Lizard. I really hope he's true to character and they don't mess him up too much. Proto-Goblin...he could be cool I think. But he should be very minor imo and they shouldn't call him "Proto-Goblin" in the film, just Van Atter.

Agreed, even though I kinda like Puma.

I don't think any superhero movie has pulled off multiple villians including dark knight where two-face was underdeveloped.
Batman Begins has Scarecrow and Ra's Alhul, it pulled it the best
Iron Man 2 sole problem was they made Justin Hammer a little shaked up person, if not for that it could have pulled the multiple villains easily, even if one of them has nothing super

I've never heard of Proto-Goblin, but this news pleases me.

Just look at it from the angle that the story takes precedence over everything else. What would you prefer, to see your fav villains on screen or a compelling story that also establishes the background for further brilliant sequels?

What an odd choice to say the least, and I'm not so sure until official word. For speculation sake, if true, look at Batman Begins: Minor characters throughout building up the main character.

Hopes for some awesome Spidey action out of all of this. Let's not forget about Spidey!

Why are some people pissing themselves because they think Proto-Goblin is going to be in this movie? I seriously doubt they'd choose such a lesser known villain (or ANY goblin) as opposed to say, The Lizard?

No villains have actually been confirmed, right?... good old fan speculation. ¬_¬

Multiple villains didnt kill Spidey 3 - multiple villains handled BADLY did.

It CAN be done.

True.

Batman villains that appeared in Begins:
1. Falcone
2. Zsasz (cameo)
3. Scarecrow
4. Ra's Al Ghul
5. Joe Chill (cameo)

TDK:
1. Maroni
2. Joker
3. Two-Face
4. Scarecrow (cameo)

X2: X-Men United (arguably the best X-Men film)
1. Magneto
2. Mystique
3. William Stryker
4. Lady Deathstrike
5. Mastermind (aka Stryker's son)

Yes, it can be done.

But only a tiny number of those villains were developed. For instance I thought two-faces descent into madness was non sensical. Look how developed doc ock and goblin were because they had plenty of screen time. Will they ever learn? Sony needs to bring it's A-game to the table because the competition in 2012 is fierce.

Norman and Otto had like two scenes each before they became villains. Harvey Dent had the bulk of TDK getting character development before he became a villain.

Norman essentially got a gas that turned him crazy, and Otto had his mind warped by A.I. tentacles. That was the crux of what made them bad. Great villains, but it wasn't anything that took a lot of screen time to show. Harvey's turn to the dark side was based on betrayal, anger, personal loss of a loved one, and his physical deformity.

I don't think Batman Begins is a good example for multiple villains. Falcone and Scarecrow were sacrificed for the story. With less villains they could of been better villains. As for Van Atter, maybe he is not a villain but a bad guy, which could make all the difference.

I'm going to refrain from *****ing until I see who this new villain guy is.
