This is one of the aspect of the film that I appreciate the most; some of the lesser known characters being brought to the stage to be more developed, and increase the lore of Spidey great rogue gallery of characters and villains. A compelling story has always been more important to me than eye-candy
not that I dont one eye-candy and great action and acting; but, I want a compelling story more than anything else. This move is a possible sign of that, hopefully; and my first good feeling about the project.

No doubt he is trying to take a page from Nolans use of characterization and art of building a story. Hopefully he can succeed. What I find so compelling about this character, if everything we have read and speculated, for months up to this point, turns out to be true, this obscure character appear to be the glue that binds the story together
and for me, thats a positive sign of great story telling.

Just look at the possibilities this character may provide. A link to Peters parents history, ties to what Marvel other franchises is establishing, as far as, the development of a Super-Soldier Formula, ties to Stromm and Norman and precursor to Norms GG, and the failed experiment and transformation of Connors into the Lizard.

However, far more than anything is how the Stacys involvement may possibly be portrayed. Which I think, unlike the one-shot comics, George and maybe Arthur, may prove to have future dire consequence to Peters relationship not only with Gwen, but, the entire Stacy clan. See I dont think, we are going to get that family relationship dynamic between Peter and the Connors clan. Instead, I think it will be more between Peter and the Stacy clan
that we will get an opportunity to delve in. And the character, Nels van Adder, appear to be the glue that ties everything together.

Also, keep in mind about multi villain usage between Batman and Spider-Man. Good writing, character usage, acting, and a compelling story, is a must, no doubt; and Spidys villains tell just as much of the story as Battys does. I think what Webb & Co has to guard against is writing to appease the action junkies. In other words, writing scenes for the sake of leading to a huge fight/action scene. Batman traditionally does not grand fight scene; mainly because his villains cause concern and danger to the system, establishment, and other crime organizations. That what put the populous in fear. Batty just goes out and capture the villain. Action derives out of that chaos that the villain pose on the public. Example being what both Ras & the Joker did
create chaos in the streets of the city, threat to public sense of security. No real threat to Bruce/Batman personally.

However, Spideys villain not only is a threat to society, the system, establishment, and organize crime; but to him personally as well
both as Peter and as Spider-Man. And, most are super-powered being in one aspect or another. So its easy for a writer to create a more intrigue, suspenseful, drama led dynamic between the hero and villain; compared to one that offer more SPX and eye-candy
you know what I mean. Why BB and TDK wasnt as action packed as some may have hoped, more mystery thriller full of intrigue; but very well done as far as a very compelling story. I hope Webb & Co understand, with Spidey, its a must he have both.
